Have Ikea discontinued the Trofast system?

You know, the ubiquitous and frankly genius storage system with the multicoloured boxes.

I have been looking on their website for half an hour and I can't find it!

Please tell me they haven't discontinued the range...

Thanks!

I think it's an error on the website.

Just had a look and I can see the Trofast section on children's Ikea, but get an error message when I try to click the link.

jimblejambles · 30/05/2010 16:31

They were selling it in the Leeds ikea last week.

JamieJay · 30/05/2010 16:36

I was wondering this as couldn't find it the other day but also noticed that there are a couple of other things that are missing on the website so thinking (hoping!!) that they're just doing a website re-design and haven't finished yet.

serenity · 30/05/2010 16:44

It's in the catalogue, so even if it was going to be discontinued (which as far as I know it isn't!) they couldn't/wouldn't do it until August.

I'd check for you but I'm currently in a tent in Norfolk, and won't be back at work for another 2 weeks.

It's probably just our crappy website.

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/05/2010 16:45

I hope so. I have checked the swiss website (I live in CH) and the UK website and they both give an error message.

I hope it's a mistake- going there tomorrow and will report back.

Don't think they'd be so stupid, surely? it's got to be one of their bestselling items, everyone I know has it

Yes, yes they would - wouldn't be the first time. We discontinued the bamboo blinds and the aluminium ones almost two years ago, and people are still asking for them, but there are always factors behind the scenes that make it necessary.

Could be that it's being withdrawn and relaunched in a slightly different style or colour, or under a different name (if it's changed manufacturers for example) Or it's reached saturation point, so many people have it that it needs revamping to increase sales. IDK.

TheMysticMasseuse · 01/06/2010 21:30

Just wanted to let everyone know that Trofast is alive, well, and in stock

I still can't find it anywhere on the website. The error message is still there and even when you look elsewhere in the website, it's not even listed.....

Don't want to make a journey out if they're not there....

serenity · 10/06/2010 12:46

What store? I can look it up when I go to work tonight, and tell you if they still do it.

serenity · 10/06/2010 12:48

'They' as in that particular store, although, as I said, it's a catalogue item so they have to stock it if it's in stock.

dilbertina · 10/06/2010 12:49

It's not on French IKEA site either, at our local store there was none on display anywhere but they did have it in the selfserve stockroom bit - if you didn't mind wandering aimlessly for a bit to find it...

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 10/06/2010 12:53

Oooo Croydon or Southampton. Thanks serenity xx

leeloo1 · 10/06/2010 13:55

Loads of Trofast when I was in store last Friday (tall one is on Family Card-thingy offer for £28ish instead of £39 ). I also couldn't find it on their website when I tried to look it up later, although there's a picture/'link' to it on the front page of their children's section, so it looks like its a website error (it better had be cos I looove Trofast!!).

Genie1984 · 10/06/2010 15:54

I've also been trying to locate on the website with no sucess.

Typing "trofast discontinued" in google came up with this thread and lots of similar threads across the globe. One canadian or US mum reckoned she phones Ikea and they confirms that they are discontinuing the entire Trofast range!?!?!

lol- if it is true it had to be just as I was going to enter the Trofast world as we've a 2nd one on the way and our current stroage system in our 2 bedroom tiny terrace with our collection of dolls houses, role play food/doctors/cooking/shop/costume items, cars, trains, dolls, puzzles, farm animals, flashcards/games etc etc is not coping well

DomesticG0ddess · 10/06/2010 17:37

My friend bought some from Southampton Ikea the other day, with pink boxes, must be the range you are talking about.

DinahRod · 10/06/2010 17:39

No they haven't, it just isn't showing on their website - I emailed them about this very thing last week and they had plenty in store.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 10/06/2010 20:51

Oh good DomesticGOddess - I'll go to Southampton then... mild panic as I'm trying to de-clutter at the moment and was relying on getting some Trofast for the kids' rooms to hide all the kids' shit tidy stuff away

DrivenToDistraction · 10/06/2010 20:55

Surely there must be shed loads of trofast on ebay?

littleducks · 10/06/2010 21:01

Leelou1 which branch was that, not showing as a family offer at ours?

IMoveTheStars · 10/06/2010 21:04

Milton Keynes had loads on Monday.. it's still about, maybe just not on the website.

Hate to say it, why don't you just ring your nearest store

leeloo1 · 10/06/2010 22:24

littleducks it was at Edmonton (North London)....

serenity · 11/06/2010 08:22

Crap. I missed this. I'll check tonight. I work in the Croydon one btw

I'll try and get a definite yes/no on the discontinued question too.

weblette · 11/06/2010 08:27

Loads at Wembley yesterday

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/06/2010 08:28

I thought this. Checked website weeks ago and it had the error messages. So couldnt even check availability in store and when I got there... None in stock. Was not a happy chappy. Does anyone know if Wednesbury or Nottingham have them in stock?

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 11/06/2010 08:45

Weblette - I can get to the Wembley one too, so I might go there if I don't have any joy at Southampton one....

Thanks serenity xx
