May's Fledgling Flyers: shed that clout May Flyers are out

elliepac · 28/04/2010 21:23

Welcome to the May edition of the fledgling flyers where we are going to merrily fly around the maypole, dusting as we go.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps, which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us, old and new, from May 1st.

3 loads of washing done and put away, all dried on the line too, what lovely weather.

3 hours spent gardening / playing hide and seek with DD.

Trampolining/soft play/coffee for mums - done

Sainsburys top up shop - done

Just got to brace myself and go to the gym later.

ellie - hope you feel better soon

Linzer - I do sometimes criticise poor DH, I really try not to, but if I don't tell him he'll never learn....Also, if I bottle it up, I end up exploding after the umpteenth instance of whatever it was.

DWM - hope Daisy feels better soon too.

Waves at everyone else, night night.

MiniMarmite · 19/05/2010 21:13

Evening Ladies

Not much flying here today or catching up on the thread either - just got back from taking DS to my Mum's for the day so we were out of the way of the builders. I did wash and hang out some washing before leaving and before I go to bed I must:

  • put a load in to go on in the morning
  • pack nursery bag for DS
  • find clothes for DS and me for the morning
  • have another attempy at finding my diary
  • make sure things are vaguely tidy

Have a relaxing evening all.

Nettiespagetti · 19/05/2010 21:59

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 20/05/2010 07:23

Morning all,

DWM - hope you get daisy sorted out. sick cat sounds bad

Linzer helping a friend in need like that is worth 100 mess bombers

No flying here recently - all I did yesterday was unload the dishwasher, throw the washing in the tumble drier and do a stockup shop because I'm convinced I'm going to go into labour soon!

Spent several hours on tuesday night in hospital as I was convinced my waters were leaking (they're apparently not or at most its a little bit of hind waters so its business as usual) but as a result I was knackered all day yesterday!

Feeling a bit better this morning - managed a decent amount of sleep! so I need to catch up:

  • wizz round downstairs tidying up to restore order
  • morning routine
  • friends round for a cuppa then toddler group
  • DS to nursery
  • 15 minutes in bedroom to get really ready for baby
  • mop kitchen floor
  • 15 minutes in DS's room to clear all the clean washing that has piled up there!
  • DS from nursery
  • afternoon routine
  • evening routine
  • early bed again!

Time to get out of bed now!

Loving the multi-lingual thread by the way.

droitwichmummy · 20/05/2010 07:40

Morning!

Thank you for your kind thoughts for Daisy. She is sitting next to me complaining about not being able to go out and I've shut the door to the junk spare room so she can't hide in there!

WM is on and litter tray emptied and refilled but not dressed yet. Have taken some chicken out of the freezer to defrost ready for tea though.

Working from home today so list is
breakfast
dressed
DS to school
find Daisy & take to vet
put washing on line
empty DW and reload
do some work

Back at lunchtime!

Nettiespagetti · 20/05/2010 07:54

Morning

chairmum ooo how exciting! Take it easy too.
dwm does daisy have that real sulky teenage face on? My cat always does the teenage sulky face when she's not getting her own way!

Right list for today

ocado shop -done in bed on phone
morning routine
wm & dw
dc nursery
me work
gym
27 fling in junk area (bit behind)
junk cosmetic that I never use
that'll do nicely for today

hope you all have lovely Thursday

PositiveAttitude · 20/05/2010 08:00

Waves to everyone. Quick post due to lovely new laptop stroking not working and the bloomin thing is faulty. Might lose this post, so very short.

Dubray Ootra is Russian, Linzer.

DD1 arriving today for the weekend. She lives other end of the country and we only see her a couple of times a year, so very exciting!

Dont know about flying but need to do a manic wing flap this morningn to get everyhting in ordrer for her arrival

Hopefully catch up properly later.

Glad Daisy is ok.

All have a good day

DidEinsteinsMum · 20/05/2010 11:16

Morning. I have discovered what i can do left handed, single handed and have managed to strike some taming into the house:
lounge - floor discovered and hoovered
kitchen - floor hoovered and washed, benches cleand and DW on.

Also done a deal re ironing as felt not safe to do left handed when actually right handed.

Hope to get in garden and plant up. Cant sit around for 6 months whilst bloody nerve heals, doing nothing.

swanriver · 20/05/2010 14:07

DWM Daisy sounds a sweetie!
DEM necessity..invention
Linzer I think we have both persuaded ourselves (I mean dh and I)that the other is the messy one
MrsDtrampolining! a great bonding for mums - it's funny isn't all those activities, the unspoken knowledge that it is kids doing trampolining not us maybe you were?
Nettie did I read MIL/boss?
PA how lovely to have a grownup daughter, you must feel you have truly brought someone upand turned them into a responsible grownup.

Yesterday was so busy no time for cmputing, but feel suitably virtuous and slack today

done
worked till 1
surveyed wreckage, ate lunch, now approaching with trepidation
dh was at home yest, and he tidied playroom so that is something SC it worked! 6 days of squalor it took - and he got rid of all the Wii boxes

droitwichmummy · 20/05/2010 18:15

Hello all

DEM you may be operating with one hand but you have acheived more than me!

nettie daisy has this hurt face. My other cat does the scowl! (but she is a tortie so that explains it)

Daisy update - lump was cancer (not unexpected) but they are pretty sure they got it all out and it does not seem to have spread. It may come back; it may not so we just need to get her over this op and keep an eye on her. She no longer has to take the meds that made her sick, just the pills she has been eating off my hand [major relief emoticom] BUT she is now wearing socks! Vet put bandages on her back feet to stop her scratching.

If I find some photos I'll upload them.

Have done some work today but my laptop is via a secure connection and its been really slow today. Might do a bit more tonight.
Washing is out and DW is ready for unloading so the basics are done. Tea almost cooked, just need DS to eat it...

swanriver · 20/05/2010 18:18

Need to do washing up now, and tea, and everything really!
back when done - well some

droitwichmummy · 20/05/2010 18:24

Photo of Katie on my profile - need to get one of Daisy. She's very good at hiding..

You also get a view of my leg!

LinzerTorte · 20/05/2010 19:05

Evening all,

I've been child-free for most of the day thanks to a ballet rehearsal and the DC being at friends' - not that you could tell from the state of the house. How can it be so messy when it's just been me at home? I have had quite a productive day work-wise, but I'm still struggling with my work/fly balance.

DWM I tried to have a look at your leg Katie, but can't see your profile for some reason.

swan DH claims that there is far less mess when he's looking after the DC on his own than when I am. I'm not convinced.

DEM Sorry to hear about your nerve. You've still managed to get far more done than I have, however.

PA Hope you have a lovely time with DD1.

Chairmum V. exciting - when is your due date? I was convinced all my 3 were going to be late but only DD2 was (and only by a day).

ellie Hope you're feeling better today.
And hope your DH is better soon as well, Nettie - men are just the worst patients!

I keep reading status updates on FB about the lovely warm weather you're enjoying in the UK and am very . I've almost been tempted to turn the heating on here the last few days...

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 20/05/2010 19:25

just a quick pop in. Managed to get the basics done and sorted out the baby stuff in my room so there won't be anything to do when the baby comes.

I'm due on 11th June, but the baby is so low down that I'm sure its coming sooner. I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow though, so if I can last out the night I won't have to go straight in if I start getting contractions.

I'm sure I'll post from the hospital when everything kicks off

elliepac · 20/05/2010 20:40

Evening everyone,

Still feeling grotty here. nettie i do sympathise with you because this morning DH got up and proclaimed he had the flu and he might take the day off! I promptly told him it was a cold, to stop being a big girl and packed him off to work . Another busy day at work here so have just managed to pop DW and WM on, quick tidy and cook dinner. If I am perfectly honest, house is in a complete state and my current plan is to try and keep it relatively tidy until half term and then blitz then on the cleaning/declutter front. Have already decided to put DC's in CM's for 2 days to allow me to do this .

Anyway enough about me, what have you lot been up to today?

chairmum I am impossibly excited about a baby on the thread . Well Done on getting everything sorted. Sounds like baby could be imminent. Both of mine were induced though after deciding my womb was far too comfy to leave so I have no idea what spontaneous labour feels like . Take it easy and enjoy the last few weeks before the madness begins .

linzer sometimes work and flying just don't mix do they. I wouldn't worry too much about the weather, this is probably our summertime and heating will be on in July

dwm about cancer but that she will hopefully be alright. I have a tortie that has been stroppy since a kitten, I didn't realise it was a common personality trait, answers many questions!

sr yay for DH getting rid of stuff, squalor is clearly thw way forward in which case I will lead the way .

dem I am the world's least ambidextrous person so I am impressed at your abilities, hope you are doing ok .

pa how wonderful to have DD coming home for the weekend. Hope you are having a wonderful time catching up with your dear daughter. .

mm hope it is going ok with the builders.

Big waves to everyone else mrsd pmpy sc (where are you lady?) and anyone else I have missed.

Today's babystep is another shameless website promotion. . Please ignore/use as you feel necessary.

The mission for today is here.

Happy flying!

MrsDinky · 20/05/2010 20:50

Evening all,

Linzer - it may have been warm, but it has also been cloudy and humid most of the week (in my area anyway), so not as lovely as it could be.

SR - it's the DCs trampolining session, we do assume though don't we? There is a grown up's session afterwards, but we all have our DCs so can't go, will have no excuse once they're at school. Not sure if my pelvic floor is up to it though .

Chairmum - fingers croseed (or legs crossed?) for a quiet night for you tonight.

DWM - poor Daisy, she has had a pretty tough time of it by the sounds of things

PA - hope you have a lovely weekend with DD1.

DEM - my ironing isn't all that safe even with the correct hand I've been known to burn my fingers whilst gazing absently at the telly.

Waves at everyone else.

Today has been quite productive.

morning routine - done
back from school to finish off kitchen and clean floor and put washing on line - done
shopping trip to big town for new clothes for DD - done
DD to preschool, me to help at DS's school - done
DS went to tea at a friend's so DD and I enjoyed a meal of all the things DS hates - sausage, mash and baked beans, before going round to pick DS up and lingering for an hour to chat to the other mum over a cuppa while all the DCs played together.
Bedtime routine for DCs - done

gormers · 20/05/2010 21:06

Oh my goodness - I've not been a good flyer recently!

Life events appear to be taking over....

HUsband had mega job interview, which we found out yesterday he got; packing for moving house in 2 weeks; I've got a stupid exam for work ( day before moving); just done a week of nights; & who knows why, but we're trying for a baby (maybe we could have picked a better time to start trying!).

So, I must shamefacedly admit - I don't think my sink is shiny anymore!!!

Will start baby wings flapping and try to fly again....

gormers · 20/05/2010 21:09

Just had a quick look through some of the recent threads - Chairmum:Good luck! Very exciting!xx

feetheart · 20/05/2010 22:08

MrsD - I think we have the same children (I know they are similar ages but the other way round, DD then DS here) DS's favourite meal when DD is out is sausage chips and beans

I am still here but RL and trying to get organised for our holiday is messing up both Flying and MNing

Glad Daisy is doing well DWM, long may she keep complaining at you, it seems to be what cats do!

Not sure I'll get on again before we go so enjoy the sunshine (sorry Linzer) and the BH w/e.

Flying will resume in the feetheart household during half-term, maybe

feetheart · 20/05/2010 22:12

And Chairmum - good luck if the baby decides to make an early appearance, just don't be too disappointed if it doesn't. DS (2nd baby) engaged at 32 weeks and everyone said I would be lucky to hold on to him till the end. 2 days before his due date he deigned to appear

droitwichmummy · 20/05/2010 22:46

ellie I think the official description of a tortie's personality is 'feisty' and she certainly is

droitwichmummy · 20/05/2010 22:50

linzer you should be able to see her my leg now!

MiniMarmite · 20/05/2010 23:08

Hi Ladies

Just popping in as I must go to bed.

Chairmum you must post from the hospital - a birth thread in a housework thread would surely be a first!

Nettiespagetti · 20/05/2010 23:16

linzer well done for getting loads of work done
dwm have i got you on fb still struggling to tie up real peeps with nicknames. Aw lil daisy Im glad they feel they got it all and hope she recovers fully ad gets her unwrapped paws back soon
