Ooh! I want one!

I've no idea how old ours is, but you can guarantee it was the 2nd cheapest Argos had.
When I start to iron it spills hot water all over the clothes item til there's none in. Not much use, but as I hadn't ironed in about three years before last week, I can't quite justify a new one this month.

I have now completed the frikkin playmobil castle . It hasn't got enough connectors (ebay) and it has fallen to bits once already. Have hidden it in wardrobe for DS to have tomorrow. He is going to the park after school then to a friends so will be too late to give it to him tonight. He will LOVE it though.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 02/03/2010 13:44

Ali if you are feeling broody and unslatternlike. Please send your vibes this way especially to DD as she hasn't gone to sleep yet and the house is a tip. Ta.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/03/2010 13:57

to HMHB's DD.

Have you got a sling you can put her in while you get things done? She might drop off?

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 02/03/2010 14:20

Given up on sleep. Fed her. Changed her. She is now having a flap on the floor and I might be able to get a few things done before setting off for DS.
My back is killing me today though. It hurts when I am up and about. Think I need to get me to an osteopath. Might have some pain killers in the meantime.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 02/03/2010 14:24

Osteopath appointment not til week after next - arrgh

JustKeepSwimming · 02/03/2010 14:42

HMHB - we only started on Playmobil at Christmas when DS1 was given some and they are soooo fiddly. but cool too.
Hope the painkillers kick in.

Ali - you are doing well!!! and at someone else's house too, lol!

Am feeling very virtuous as I bought some extra stuff at the shops for the homeless centre (tins, tea & biscuits, etc.) as i have a boot full of old blankets & duvets to take round there. May try and go round tomorrow.

Afternoon.

TAF, how does the nice ironing make the ironing quicker?

Ali, please send Peroni vibes this way.
of new baby cuddles.

HMHB, that's a bit rubbish about the appointment. Hope the painkillers work.

Playmobil looks fun.

ToccataAndFudge · 02/03/2010 15:49

how does it make it quicker? The pressure of the steam that this thing generates means you literally go over the thing once, and you don't even have to do both sides (if you're anal like XH is). Seriously with the "normal" iron of XH's that lot would easily have taken me getting close to 2hr.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/03/2010 15:50

Hi all, not done much today, did the basics this morning then friend and her dc came for coffee and stayed for lunch-only left a short time ago

Freezer surprise again for dinner Am hoping it's stew to have with jacket potatoes. It looks stew-esque anyway.

Put the easel and paintpots out in garden when friends left to stop my dc having a "my friends have gone" tantrum, god I hate doing stuff like that-end up with paint everywhere.

TAF link for iron please-I'm not sure I know what you mean

PlumBumMum · 02/03/2010 15:57

Oh TAF I have one of those definitely quicker although I let mine pile up it still takes a day
Agre you only need to do one side of the clothes

I have rang about fireplace
he's coming this week sometime
have looked for ds's Judo license can't find it, he has an exam tomorrow not sure what that means

Have been trawling internet for holidays, have seen 1 or 2 now its just deciding do I want to book on line or go into travel agents I'm so wary of these things now

Oh God I'm really today

ToccataAndFudge · 02/03/2010 16:02

lol Plum - I hadn't done any ironing for about 2 weeks (although had taken stuff out of the pile to wear - so there was quite a lot of it).

Best £90 bit of money I've spent in recent years (oh along side my Brabantia bin which was a similar price 2yrs ago )

FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/03/2010 16:03

Ah ok I've googled, my gran has one.

PBM it only takes all day because you iron sheets and towels n stuff

ToccataAndFudge · 02/03/2010 16:04

oh fark - that was supposed to be crossed out LOL

cikecaka · 02/03/2010 16:16

TAF, twice today I passed a shop with a steam iron in it, considered putting a deposit on it, if the urge is still there on thurs I will! What make is yours? This one was a tefal and was close to ?100?

Got loads done this morning as was up since 6.30 with DD3, but still was late dropping her school

Now I need to wash dishes
Clear over Kitchen
Sweep Floor
Tidy sitting room
Put clean sheets on our bed

ToccataAndFudge · 02/03/2010 16:17

mine is a Philips - tbh I wasn't really too fussy about the brand, so long as it had a nice big water tank and a ceramic soleplate (not sure why I wanted a ceramic soleplate but I did LOL).

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/03/2010 16:34

Ahem ladies - all this talk of irons and ironing is not very Slatternly!

I on the other hand have been asleep, courtesy of the Peroni

FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/03/2010 16:35

TAF I remember your bin thread and in fact I remembered it when I was moving out and bought myself a new bin I got the argos own one though not the brabantia

JustKeepSwimming · 02/03/2010 18:06

I was quite of the Peroni too!!

Dithering about whether to go to my AN/PN meetup in London tomorrow, lots of effort required and i'm not sure i have the energy...

PlumBumMum · 02/03/2010 18:19

ahem
MIL bought me mine but I really don't think she paid that much for it
hope not
I told her to look out in Sainsbos for an iron in their half price sale(tbh anything was better than mine which tripped the electricty everytime it got to certain temperature and full of water)
