Evening everyone We've been out all day, Music with Mummy and then lunch - and then I fell asleep when we got back! DH was here so I wasn't being a neglectful parent, honestly!

JKS - that does sound upsetting. Is there another class that you could try locally instead that he might get more out of for this term? DS didn't take to signing at all, he prefers something where he can get up and have a dance about to some music and play the drums!
For the Vit E - have you tried the Healthspan website? Very good quality vitamins and supplements and not expensive.

Alice - that sounds fab!

Plum - glad DD is getting better, you have been very calm about it, I would be freaking out about meningitis etc

Jolene - when are you due back at work?

HMHB - I saw you had mentioned work clothes a couple of days ago, are you due back soon?

Freak - wow, I will be opening the champagne the day that my house has no Areas of Doom!

I need to have a bit of a moan about my brother and the stupid wedding stuff again. I e-mailed him asking for the timings for the day etc because we need to sort out what to do with DS. He e-mailed back with a list of nurseries near to the wedding venue and said 'hope these are useful, if you can leave DS at one of these on the day then it would be really nice if you all came to the hotel the night before blah blah'
WTF? They are normal nursries, so Mon-Fri and probably with waiting lists as long as your arm! He has no bloody idea.
So I e-mailed back saying that they were only weekday places, our only option would be a nanny for the day which we aren't prepared to do for a whole variety of reasons. Said that I would probably come on my own so that DH could look after DS, and that I would leave after the meal and not stay for the first dance/evening etc.
I'm awaiting his reply!

So bloody cross, he obviously thinks it's a major concession that they are 'inviting' DS to even come to the hotel. They can fuck off, I'm not letting him play doting uncle when he chooses to while he excludes DS from the actual day which is also effectively excluding DH.

And BREATHE!

Ali - breathe, wedding seem to make people lose their marbles or something. Stay calm, do what you can and one day (maybe) he'll realise how twattish his behaviour was and be really sheepish!!

Well we go to a normal stay & play thing on friday mornings (though he's only been twice since the op) and he enjoyed that so will keep going to that.
Am joining a 'heuristic play' session that starts in a few weeks which i hope he'll enjoy (i know the other mums going so i know i'll be fine, lol).
And the SN centre has signed him up for a physical group called tumbling turtles which sounds kind of cute (though i'm nervous as know no-one).
So will just skip a few S&S for a few weeks and see if he gets more into at home. Thing is he used to sign loads and be really into it but i think i didn't think about how it would feel for me 'going back'...

Hi all. Haven't been able to read through yet but will do in a bit.

A massive PHEW from me. It has been just mad the last few days have hardly had time to think.

DH is away and I've been back to work the last 2 days on Keeping In Touch Days. Hence buying of work clothes Ali!

Granny has been looking after DD and I've been driving back and forth from work to bfeed her.

Also the boiler has packed in (no heating or hot water) and DS is being a nightmare (missing his dad). I have been thinking that I can't cope with much more of this but my mum and I have been having a couple of glasses of wine of an evening and hopefully things are going to calm down now. I won't be going back to work for a while yet and I'm glad because it was just too much. I haven't been having much sleep either. DD has been waking at 3am or 4am and I was up til midnight last night trying to fix the heating.

So I am hoping for a better night sleep tonight. The heating bloke is coming tomorrow morning and I don't have to go to work so should be lots calmer.

DS is bugging me, trying to get my attention and messing about at meal times because he is missing his dad. It is just so waring with him repeating questions endlessly. I should be able to give him more attention tomorrow and hopefully this will chill him out a bit.

Ali - feel for you with the wedding issue with your bro. Same sort of thing happening for us with two weddings this year. The first is this month where neither of our kids are invited. I can't leave DD as am bfeeding so we aren't going. The bride and groom have a baby so should know better.

The second is in May and they will let DD come but not DS as he will take up a space. So annoying as we will have to make all kinds of arrangements for DS and do a lot of travelling to make it to the wedding.

Hope it gets sorted without too much hassle. Sounds more difficult for you as its your bro!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/02/2010 22:52

Blimey HMHB, what an awful week so far for you! Hope it gets better.

It is a total PITA this whole wedding thing, because there is the expectation that I at least am there - DB has actually said to me 'don't you dare tell me that you are not coming'. If it was friends then we could either leave DS with my parents, or say 'thanks but no thanks' - but neither of those options are open to us. SIL and BIL were going to come and look after DS here, but BIL is 99% going to be posted to Afganistan and SIL is really quite disabled so she can't manage DS on her own, not safely.

That is pretty awful about the wedding in May - do you have to go?

JKS - those groups sound good, hopefully in a couple of months he'll be able to start the signing again.

Morning CC

HMHB - hope things calm down for you a bit.

Ali - how old is DS? Can you not say to your bro that you are all coming, fait accompli and all that. At least if you're all at the same place you & DH can take it in turns to entertain DS/take him out if he's restless, etc.
Even if you all go to bed early (is it in a hotel?) or one of you does with DS, that would be better than not going or you going on your own i would think.
Also, really DS will not massively impact on things in a negative way & all the older generation will like seeing him.
Sorry sticking my nose in!

Morning everyone

JKS - we have been through all that and they refuse to make an exception. SIL is a total bridezilla and is determined that her wedding be the social event of the year, the daft cow. Bloody hell HMHB sounds hectic.

for you Ali, how wierd that your brother thinks you can just put ds in nursery for a day! Did you find me on fb btw?

JKS must be so hard, you have been so amazingly strong through the whole thing so don't forget that you are allowed to break down sometimes!

RE the areas of doom, I think I just have low standards . Plus there are loads of things that I would be working on if I owned the house but it being rented means I either can't or just don't want to go through the whole hassle of getting permission from landlord etc. In terms of tidiness/cleanliness/organisation it's currently not too bad though (says I as ds attacks the board games again!)

FreakoidOrganisoid · 03/02/2010 12:01

Oh and I have watched the entire s5 of lost in 2 days

Morning

After my enthusiasm yesterday i was violently sick (some bug) so that put paid to that. Hopefully get some stuff done today.

JKS what does ds like to do? Our childrens centre has a sensational babies group which is lots of twinkly lights, different textures etc. If there is something like that near you they may let you take DS because of the situation.

Ali I can't understand people banning kids from weddings. We got a bouncy castle and made sure there was some childrens food sepecially for them. Where abouts is the wedding? Could you perhaps see if there are any Mnetters about that child mind in the area?

I have put the horses out in the field and been to waitrose. Need to do lunch and pick friend up at 2.30 to come and ride one of the horses. Then sort some clothes out when i get home.

Alicetheinvisible · 03/02/2010 12:09

HI Everyone

HMHB Hope you get your boiler fixed it snowing here so can't imagine having no heatat the minute

JKS you'll have days like that and I think the important thing is to not feel guilty about having a bad day, like you should be over it/used to it, but your coping well think the new groups sound good

Ali Ithink you sould go with JKS suggestion and just book yourselves into the hotel anddh & ds join you after the cermony, is that possible?

It is really anoying we recieved our Invite to BILs wedding,
so dh needs to ring him and let him know that me and the dcs are not going,
I'm still hoping they will reconsider about the other reception but I doubt it, which the bride has already said to me will just be a celebration party with a buffet not a proper dinner service reception.
Actaly the more I think about it the more peeved I get, probably wouldn't be so annoyed if BIL had been so flippant about me being able to miss dd2s birthday for once

Anyway
I'm really struggling to get motivated today, realised I have no dinner planned for today, so will cjeck cupboards before I go do school runs as I need to go to shop anyway

definitely need to do lots of ironing if not finish it all!!!

JustKeepSwimming · 03/02/2010 13:38
