Morning all

DS2 has woke me and I can not get back off, so have come for some hot milk and thought I would start the thread.

Hope everyone had a good Friday night.

LBB Balance is hard to find in life I think. I seem to be pulled in so many ways that something tends to have to give. I try to make that not the children, but it doesnt always work. I have found recovering from my operation really hard and is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I get tired much quicker than I used to so many of the energetic activities I used to do with the boys such as football and going to the beach have had to give. Makes them more grumpy, but it is only for the short term so it will be fine.

You just need to find what is important to you and work from there/

Morning. Thanks TMH We're getting there, slowly but surely. I just can't wait until we can all play together (deluded?) instead of ds1 getting really jealous if I so much as look at ds2. It'll all fall into place one day I imagine.
Going out today so dp can get a good sleep, so again, not sure how much I'll get done round the house. I might have today off!

Hope everyone has a good day, see you later.

BTW, why is it everytime I log onto MN, I can smell baby poo? Are they saving it up?

wendyredkitchenredspots · 23/05/2009 08:38

Morning llb and mad and all who follow. Had a super hectic day yesterday so didn't manage to get on. DS and DD seem to spend their whole time arguing and shouting at each other atm. Due to tiredness but don't know how I can solve it - they sleep 12 hours every night!
llb remember it's only babysteps - sounds like you are doing fabulously to me!
Yoga, a birthday party and a trip up to Durham in store for me this weekend to see a friend and her three children. Plus another friend just had a baby Tuesday so I'll get to see her too yay! Sorry i can't squeeze in a trip to you too mad

grouchyoscar · 23/05/2009 09:20

Mad I woke up at 5:30, needed some cammomile tea and was going to start the thread. You'd still haave beaten me Hello sweetheart, how are you doing?

Hello FLYers. Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, I've been too busy to post . I have noticed a host of new names on the threads so I'll say welcome to you all and hope you stick around, it's lovely here, super suportive, friendly and addictive.

So, what has Grouchy been doing? Well, I've been DH and DS husbandry really, cleaning, washing, tiding and sandwich making, yeah yeah, what else does a wife and mum do? It's just bogged me down really.

We're going to DF's today. It's his birthday, and mine, plus it was his partner's on Thursday too so it's going to be a chaotic afternoon of food and drink

Have a great sunny day and I'll pop back tomorrow.

Wolfcub · 23/05/2009 10:39

morning all

welcome to any new flyers like grouchy I've not been round much, sorry, it's been a very stressful week.

done
attacked hot spot - found tescos vouchers so we can afford to go shopping for food
menu planned for next week and wrote shopping list

we were supposed to be going to inlaws today but ds has about 12 spots, no idea whether they are chicken pox or not but don't want to spread it around so he is in quarantine.

have a lovely day ladies HAPPY BIRTHDAY GROUCHY

gibbberish · 23/05/2009 11:02

Morning

Quick hello before I dash out. dd2 has dancing shows to do all afternoon (3 different shows) so will be busy with that.

Thanks for thread mad!

Have a lovely trip out wendy lbl lol at the buildup of poo

Grouchy enjoy all the food and alcohol

wolf oh dear about spots, eek!

Must run. Speak to you all later. Have a fab day everyone! xx

gibbberish · 23/05/2009 11:03

Oooh where did those extra * come from?

Bye!

grouchyoscar · 23/05/2009 11:06

BF has just called from Oz! That was such a lovely present TBH. Lots of smiles and giggles and tears. I'm so pleased for her, it's going so well for her and DH

TheMadHouse · 23/05/2009 11:21

Groucy Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday dearest fly friend, Happy Birthday to you. MWAH

DH let me have a really long lie in and has teken DS1 ro fottball practice.
He also did all the morning routines, including hanging out the washing and popping another load in.

LBB We have stages when the boys play well together and then like at the moment, times when all they do is fight. I think this is normal and there is only 15 months between my two.

Wendy Dont worry about not finding time to visit me. We will plan a meeting in York at the soft play on Monday!

Wolf I am not sure it can be pox - he has had the stops a while now hasnt he and they take about a week to crust and then he is not contagious. How is work?

I have used all my tesco vouchers last night to, just exchanged them for legoland tickets, warwick castle tickets and then pizza express with the rest. This means the holiday will be more affordable for us and we can at least eat out for one or two nights

Gib All thagt dancing is exhasting me thinking about it - hope you dont feel too much like a taxi and that you had a good meal last night

Plan for today is to go and buy roofbox and then some T-shirts for DS1, bless he has shorts and a couple I bought in the sale last year, but DS2 has all his others now . I am also going to get some aborio rice and try galens slow cooker risotto recipe.

So later lovleys

Everyone's a jumping bean here!
What were the top attractions at ED EHM?
Lots of shouting here too Wendy, have taken them swimming so that the noise is muffled.
Felt v. happy this morning, and now down in dumps with dh again, but have escaped from house and hopefully when I return he will have prepared a lovely BBQ, poor old thing. Although he insisted boringly on going to Morrisons again, despite my efforts yest to meal plan

This morning we have so far
Dcs have watched last bit of Return of Jedi
Blown up paddling pool (which had three holes

Played outside (briefly before shouting set in)
Dcs and I have been swimming (not in paddling pool) for I nearly 2 hours and I DID 10 lengths, so I'm back on my swimming regime or shall I say [grim]
Watered and nurtured my plants first thing.

TheMadHouse · 23/05/2009 13:08

DS1's fav book in the whole wide world at the moment is Alians love underpants and there is a new one out about Aliens in underpants saving the world. I have just ordered it from Redhouse Books for 3.99 free delivery.

It will be great to give him on DS2's birthday

Off out now to buy roofbox

swanriver · 23/05/2009 13:08

All I can say PROF, is that I have never decluttered any homemade gift, (although I have eaten them sometimes I suppose)
Whereas shopbought presents are more likely to be passed on, eventually.

swanriver · 23/05/2009 13:11

There is another book on Pants with a CD in it with Lenny Henry singing a song.. will find it when I get home again and tell you the author. Even ds1 listened to it over and over again
Oh and TMH there's another good book called Who's in Loo? which is very very funny..

EHM · 23/05/2009 13:36

swan we have the 'Who's in the Loo?' on loan from a friend its fab.Must see is the parade a Disney.
prof & galen buy park tickets on line before you go & you will save many £'s. Take lunch bags with cooler packs. Make sandwiches for lunch at breakfast if you are having breakfast at the hotel. By cold drinks at shops in the Train Station & not in park. A must is Mickey's Cafe expensive but worth it. Park opens at 10am arrive just before 10 to avoid the massive ques. Lots more I make a list & then post.
Where are you both staying?
grouchy Happy Birthday.

Right less of the faffing must get on. be back later ladies.

Afternoon

Shows went well and dd was brilliant (if I say so myself ). Got another three performances tomorrow then the same next weekend. Had her pic taken for the local papers.

Weather is pants, cold and wet so dragging the little ones up to their room and we are going to blitz it. Have decided to be ruthless with their toys and have a great sort out. Might make some money on ebay with the unused stuff.

prof I think home made gifts are so much nicer than bought ones and very much more appreciated.

ehm So glad you have had a brilliant break

swan enjoy your bbq. I take it you have sun?

galen Hope party goes swimmingly!

mad How, oh how did you get dh to do the morning routine ???!!!

Right, off to the bedroom for more decluttering! This is going to take a while so might not be back for a few hours...

wendyredkitchenredspots · 23/05/2009 15:02

My two love those Underpants books too.
Prof I heart homemade gifts and have never decluttered any! Very thoughtful of you to make them I think.
I want to go to Disney Paris but don't think it's going to happen! lol. We are going to Rosedale again this year in North Yorks moors. DH is allergic to Abroad. He even says it in capitals. Not xenophobic, just likes to be in control and likes familiarity I think! We have been to France once and to Greece once before children and I booked both hols
Party was ok - a bit overlong with gaps between things happening - food rubbish for us veggies but I had taken fruit so we were ok. It was all beige food as ds calls it - pastry, sandwiches etc and no veg salad etc! DS and DD were asking where the salad was
Right am off to tell the shoe shop off and get a refund - second one in two weeks for DD's shoes!!! I hate shoe shopping with DC!!!

wendyredkitchenredspots · 23/05/2009 15:02

Oops Happy birthday Grouchy!

Tortoise · 23/05/2009 15:08

Hello.
Beautiful day here. Kids are playing outside. I have been out but just popped back in to cool off a bit.
Need to put next wash load on the line.

Happy Birthday GO.

galen · 23/05/2009 17:42

Helooooo I survived the party!!!! All girls seemed to enjoy it. Teddy stuffing and bead jewelery making went down well. Managed pass the parcel, but ran out of tinme for musical statues, just about had time for the B'day cake LOL underestimated how long they would want to spend making jewelery! House a tip....but it will recover relieved its all over though...can chill for the rest of the half term now!

grouchy happy b'day...hope you're enjoying
gib glad show went well
EHM so glad you had a great time.Where did you stay?We are staying at the Adagio City Aparthotel (hotel made up of self catering appartments) It is just outside the park with free shuttle bus. We got a package that included park tickets as it semmed to work out cheaper. Also wanted self catering to avoid the rumoured ridiculously overpriced burger and chips type food Will do a trip to cafe Mickey though probably....
prof we looked at Davy Crocket...but they didnt do a lodge big enough for all of us so would have had to be in 2...more ££ and not so great for me and Dh to relax after littlies in bed....When are you going?
wendy sorry party food wasnt up to much...no one ate the celery , carrot or tomatoes I put out for DD's party or the wholemeal sandwhiches...(white ones all went though LOL)
swan hope youre having anice BBQ!
mad yay for book and free delivery!

right I need to go and finish sorting the kitchen...then am going to chill tonight, sadly didnt get any washing done today...weather was great for drying too...need to catch up tonight but not doing much else...think I may even treat myself to a glass or two of wine (sorry gib! but I dont drink very often!)
Lovely sunny evening here at least...glad for DS1 who is off at "survival camp"! Hope its nice tomorrow and we can all go for picnic...(lots of sandwiches left over LOL

Bye for now

swanriver · 23/05/2009 19:19

I am so glad your party was fun Galen, you must be a party maestro by now! It's lovely when you run out of time lol instead of the other way around, when the visitors are looking blankly at you waiting for something to happen! (this has happened to me...not often but it has..)
My dh is allergic to Abroad too, Wendy, despite being from Abroad. He is also allergic to hotels. As a result my dream is to be in a lovely hotel, and go down to a delightful hotel breakfast where someone else clears away all the crumbs.

Today pm I've
cleared kitchen thoroughly
taken ds1 on a long walk (still full of shouty energy despite his swim
persuaded ds1 to paint a picture instead of nintendoing
hung out two loads of washing
cleaned bath again

dh has cut the other side of hedge and the out of reach bits AND cleared it up and entertained dd in the process. He made a fantastic barbeque feast for us, all beautifully laid out on our return from swimming. I did have half glass of pink fizz so as not to offend him, as he'd bought it especially.

ds2 has shouted a lot but played happily in his room between screams so I forgive him

Scrambled egg for tea (easy), and Robin Hood just finished. Ds2 is watching a bit of Iceage instead.

So it has been a good day, I think they are finally unwinding. Tomorrow we can go on an outing!

Still need to sort out totally choatic fridge - food keeps falling out on me.
Good night ladies!

gibbberish · 23/05/2009 19:40

You can relax for the rest of the weekend now galen

I have FINISHED the girl's room wahooooooo!

Has only taken four hours but is beautiful. Cleared out every single toy box and cupboard (apart from their clothes - that is next) and have filled 10 black bin bags and have loads to sell on ebay!

Really feel have accomplished something today because that was a job long overdue.

Only got to clear under the stairs (how long have I been saying that?), sort out the little ones clothes and reorganise the utility room and that will be the entire house done! So pleased

Am off to relax and chill out with a glass of cola and watch tv. Have a good night all xx

gibbberish · 23/05/2009 19:42

Oops that was girls' room...

not that I am a pedant or anything
