Morning all

DS2 has woke me and I can not get back off, so have come for some hot milk and thought I would start the thread.

Hope everyone had a good Friday night.

LBB Balance is hard to find in life I think. I seem to be pulled in so many ways that something tends to have to give. I try to make that not the children, but it doesnt always work. I have found recovering from my operation really hard and is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I get tired much quicker than I used to so many of the energetic activities I used to do with the boys such as football and going to the beach have had to give. Makes them more grumpy, but it is only for the short term so it will be fine.

You just need to find what is important to you and work from there/

I am shattered - but have packed for tomorrow, taken back shoes to shoe shop, been to Grandma's with children ... now need to make the dinner.
May not see you all for a couple of days ... have a good Bank Hol all
galen well done on party - sounds really good!

littleboyblue · 23/05/2009 20:14

wendy sounds like a good weekend. Enjoy
Mad Ds1's fave book is Dinosaurs Love Underpants. I read it so often I can recite it!
Grouchy Not spoken yet, but happy birthday! hope it's a good one.

Not done much today. We went out shopping and didn't get in til 4, so unpacked shopping, fed baby and then had to get dinner on. We had pork chops. I ate mine with my fingers because ds2 wouldn't stop screaming. Damn this teething!
I am doing well though and am sticking to my new morning and evening routines. When I finish with ds2 at bedtime, I do the days washing up, sterilise bottles, wipe counters down, sweep floor and mop. Oh and not forgetting shine the sink
And now that I wash up dinner stuff in the evening (I used to leave it til morning), I now do the bathroom in the morning whilst I get dressed and ready, and over the past 3 days, it's all seemed to fit quite well. I'm quite happy doing the kitchen and bathroom everyday and now have to work in one other job a day, and that's it I think.
IIRC, today's babystep was to wite down everything I'd done. Did you guys actually stick post-it's round the house??

TheMadHouse · 23/05/2009 20:25

Evening all

galen Party sounds fab. Well done you

prof mode made has always stayed in this house too. We also have dinosaws love underpants My two are avid readers - well mummy reads they say again

swan Your day sounds perfect

Tort I am ebvious of the weather - warm here, but massive rain again

Wendy Pants on the food front - I was a veggie for 11 years so feel your pain. DS2 turned me back in to a meat eater (well being pregnant and lacking in iron - all I wanted was red meat)

EHM I agree parade is a must. We thought that some of the food was good, espeically if you avoided the burger and chips places. We ate at the Pirates of the caribean - had to book - very nice seafood. a bit ££, but not in the context - was cheaper than the burgers. We took squash in refillable bottles and all drank that and also took snacks too.

Gib DH is and always has been a real find. He has his own routine - he does the bins, cat litter, turns on the DW and empties it before he goes out to work in the morning. He also never fails to bring me a cup of tea in bed. We are working our way though our recent wobbles and think that I may have more of an issue than him. Infact I see my phyc again starting Thursday next week. I am determined not to be dragged back to fully flegged depression and let this effect us all.

Anyhow - we bought more pink fizz Swan You did well to stop at one glass. we had to as they were offering samples in Marks and it was to nice to leave a bottle. Also got the dine in for a £10 - Steaks were £6.92.

We are having a BBQ with my mum tomorrow evening and off to the oulaws in the morning.

Also for everyone thjat bemoans that boys clothes are all horrid slogans, pirates and character M&S have plain Tshirts in 4 for £9, 2 for £4 and plain sweats too. More sweats for the over 5's, but some for the littles too. I went a bit mad and bought 6 t-shirts for DS1 (grey, purple, yellow, blue, orange, pale blue, red and green), really nice stripy sweat top in green for £9, some PJ's, sweat top for DS1 and socks etc too

x-posts LBB I rememebr finger food too - not teaching you to suck eggs, but have you tried ambesol liquid. unlike bongela it is not a gel so doesnt slip off wet gums. It was a godsend when mine were bad.

OP posts:
littleboyblue · 23/05/2009 20:34

Mad No, never heard of it. Will look out for it though. Do they drink it? What? Any suggestions to ease this stage for all of us are welcome. Ds1 is still teething too. He is currently getting his last few down, so it's pretty constant from both of them
Might try some frozen carrot sticks

Tortoise · 23/05/2009 20:35

TMH Sorry you had rain. Shocked just how warm it felt outside today. Really was a lovely day.
I haven't done much but have all day to do bits tomorrow.
Might be going to a picnic Monday but forecast looks a bit rainy.

TMH Glad you had a successful shopping spree. DD2 could do with some bigger bits for summer but can't really afford much. Hoped her 5-6 sizes would be ok!

TheMadHouse · 23/05/2009 20:41

LBB it is a liquid you rub on, a bit like oil of cloves in the olden days I am still using it on DS2's last 4 molars. I have also used it on ulcers, so is handy to have in. it is actually called anbesol (just checked. You can ge it in boots or any other chemist

OP posts:
Tortoise · 23/05/2009 20:45

LBB I 2nd Anbesol liquid. It is great for teething (and ulcers!)

littleboyblue · 23/05/2009 22:00

Thanks. Will pick some up next time I go into town.

TheMadHouse · 24/05/2009 03:33

I'm wide awake in my kitchen,
It's black and I'm lonely,
Oh, if I could only get some sleep,
Creaky noises make my skin creep,
I need to get some sleep,
I can't get no sleep....

OP posts:
littleboyblue · 24/05/2009 07:14

OIh dear Mad hope you managed to get back to sleep.
Do we keep the same thread all weekend?
I looked a few days ahead on the babysteps. All looks manageable.
Today is nappy wrapper soak day so going to try to do bathroom completely too, walls and shelves (have lots of glass shelves in there so pita), but as both ds's are miserable with teething, I'm taking extra cmfort time with them both so it might not get done, and I still haven't done the ironing I've been banging on about for days
Also hoping to get to the park if they both cheer up a bit.
Have a good day, hope to bbl

swanriver · 24/05/2009 08:43

Hope you get to the Park Lbb.
Sometimes with ironing, I fear I just give up and put it away unironed, - still gets worn!
Today I am up a bit earlier than usual, well I have been (I know now is not very early)
and have

given dcs breakfast in fragmented fashion
to my amazement they have all dressed themselves unprompted, but I'm in my nightie still
read them 2 chapters of Horrid Henry
folded some laundry

now I'm about to take them to church to the early service if I can just get dressed vvvvery quickly, and before dh can start making suggestions...

swanriver · 24/05/2009 08:44

I mean about not taking them to church.

grouchyoscar · 24/05/2009 08:56

Good morning ALL

Had a great time at DF's, The whole family was there and plenty of food was scoffed. I saw DB for the 1st time in a couple of years. Ed behaved beautifully meeting new people in a different environment, I was so proud of him. Best of all, they really loved their presents.

Mad Insomnia is horrendous isn't it? My bout can go on for a while so I really sympathise/empathise. I find cammomile tea really helps.

I will catch up with the thread and get DH some strong coffee

grouchyoscar · 24/05/2009 09:27

Waves to Swan and LBB LBB Yep, we have one thread for the weekend, I suppose it's as Kelly doesn't set a daily mission at the weekend (I think ). I second Mad's approval of Anbesol, it's fab an it works for us too (mouth ulers, wisdom teeth etc) It reminds me I should get some to stuff in the household 1st aid cupboard. Nice to actually 'talk' to you BTW

Aliens Love Underpants is a big hit here too. Ed loves the 'pingy pants elastic' bit and it has to be repeated while his PJ bottoms are 'pinged'

I've discovered a new method to fufil my guilty addiction to getting bargain kids books : Playtrade on Play.com. If you don't mind second hand copies yo can pick up very good copies for less than £3 with free P&P Just picked up the 2 Preston Pig stories Ed didn't have as a well done gift. Plus you can get books that are out of print too.

DH has arisen and gone downstairs and I haven't even put the kettle on (I look a bugger in it anyway, it doesn't really fit) Plus I must catch up with some chores and do the chalk on the floor/roll Ed up in the carpet bit. Thanks for the birthday wishes See you soon

TheMadHouse · 24/05/2009 09:28

Morning again

LBB Yep we keep the same thread all weekend

Swan Hope you managed to get to church

Groucy Thats the thing with insomnia - it comes in waves. I have tried all the ususal suspects. No tea after 4pm, warm milk, camomile tea, warm baths, lavender, doubling sleeping tabs , my lumie light on dim, writing things down and nothing is helping at the moment - I am managing

We are all up and dressed and breakfasted
S&S loo
Cleaned leather furniture - well quick wipe to get off marks
DS1's wet bed in wash
breakfast pots washed

We are off to the oulaws soon

gibbberish · 24/05/2009 09:53

Aw mad. Hope you get a decent night's sleep tonight.

Morning all

I am COVERED in bruises this morning. After the girls went to bed and the lights were put it I decided to carry the hoover downstairs - it is a Henry with a long hose.. Anyway, was coming down the stairs with Henry, in the dark, didn't see the hose had fallen in front of me and stood on it. Rolled right off and landed flat on my back and bum... Very sore! Have huge bruise on both arms, my leg and my backside

That'll teach me to clear up as I go.

dd2 at 3 shows this afternoon so will be running her there. dh is going to take the other 3 up to St Andrews for the day so will have the afternoon to myself. Going to tackle UNDER THE STAIRS then take everything down to the recycling/tip.

galen · 24/05/2009 10:16

Starbear · 24/05/2009 10:18

Good morning,
Mad It's a bugger I've lived with poor sleep for years. Relax and go with the flow today.
gibbberish Multi-tasking was invented by men to make sure women kept the house work going while their at football. One job at a time that why I love this thread. Saying that I have a huge bruise on my right leg from over loading my shopping trolley. I know it makes me look like an old lady but it keep me fit and eco friendly. I dropped the handle and it landed on my leg. No shorts for at the picnic.

Starbear · 24/05/2009 10:28

Right, now for the the list.
make Ds's bed. Mine done.
Put out washing in the lovely sun
Clean out the o/s kitchen drain.
Shower & dress in clean clothes
Walk around the garden with a pen, paper, cup of tea and make a 'TO DO LIST'
MAKE Pumpkin stew before the veg become rotten.
Empty dishwasher.
Lunch for boys
Potter in the garden planting things for the afternoon.
Pumpkin stew for dinner.
have a lovely day everyone

gibbberish · 24/05/2009 11:13

galen sounds like your dh is well trained too! I've definitely gone wrong somewhere

star like that thought process behind multi-tasking. I believe it to be true! Ouch about your bruise.. painful eh? Problem with mine is every time I sit down I feel it

FINISHED UNDER THE STAIRS

Feeling hugely proud of myself. Have worked my backside off this week decluttering. Off to the skip this afternoon and will spend the rest of the day washing down and writing up all the stuff am planning to sell on ebay. Have a lovely old Hornby train set that has sat in the cupboard for 17 years . Needs a good home and someone to appreciate it so that is def going on.

Off to have a cuppa before clearing up and hoovering.

littleboyblue · 24/05/2009 11:38

grouchy I've been meaning to get a first aid box since I was pegnant with ds1. I don't even keep plasters such a bad mummy
Mad Have a good day
gib Poor you with your fall. Hope you're ok. What show's your dd in? I saw you talking about it the other day, but being a newbie to this thread, me know nothing!
galen of your lay in. Have a nice garden day.

I've just arranged to meet a friend at the park, which'll be nice. I must remember to take the baby carrier for my super grumper!
Today, all washed and dressed and had breakfast, toilet, bath, and sink cleaned, mirror polished, bathroom floor mopped and swept, beds made, e-mails checked, bottles sterilised, washing up done, food shop done. Lunch happening now, bag for afternnon done. I must now remind myself what todays babystep is and quickly do that before ds1 finishes lunch
bbl

TheMadHouse · 24/05/2009 13:24

Gib well done on the decluttering. I need to take a leaf out of your book, but can not be arsed at the min

We have been to the outlaws and for some reason I am not in the best of moods - v tired.

I have filled the paddling pool and am going to collect mum for a BBQ

grouchyoscar · 24/05/2009 13:48

Hello again

Been sorting out plants in the garden, having a general tidy round and given Ed's playhouse to next doors twins. Ed was too big for it TBH so, pass it on. They are all playing with it and Ed is currently putting up a satelite dish on it
