Morning all

DS2 has woke me and I can not get back off, so have come for some hot milk and thought I would start the thread.

Hope everyone had a good Friday night.

LBB Balance is hard to find in life I think. I seem to be pulled in so many ways that something tends to have to give. I try to make that not the children, but it doesnt always work. I have found recovering from my operation really hard and is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I get tired much quicker than I used to so many of the energetic activities I used to do with the boys such as football and going to the beach have had to give. Makes them more grumpy, but it is only for the short term so it will be fine.

You just need to find what is important to you and work from there/

Next doors kids are having a wonderful time with Ed's old house. It makes me .

Just wondering if any of you can help me with this please

Tortoise · 24/05/2009 16:22

Kids have been playing outside. Lots of water stuff! Water bombs, squirters and a small pool. They have had a great time.
Floor is wet and covered in bits of grass!

Have made some fairy cakes. And i did tidy up this morning! Doesn't look like it now.

Trying to decide what to do tomorrow. Please help me decide.
Plan was to go [[http://www.tauntontowncentre.co.uk/National_Family_Week_Giant_Picnic_Taunton.htm here]
BUT forecast is thunderstorms and rain. To we risk it and go or give it a miss? Won't be much fun picnicing in the rain but the forecast may be wrong and it might stay mainly dry......... WWYD?

grouchyoscar · 24/05/2009 16:24

Oh and bargain boys' shoes here! £14, total bargain so I've also got the next size up They look fab

I could spend the savings on new white shirts

Tortoise · 24/05/2009 16:25

Poo link failed.
try here

gibbberish · 24/05/2009 16:56

at you all sunning yourselves today! Was lovely here this morning (while I was deep in the cupboard under the stairs ) then turned cold and cloudy this afternoon!

lbl the younger 3 girls all do dancing. dd2 was in the opening of two schools, yesterday and today. Was doing cheerleading displays. She loves it!

Not cooking tonight as is just me, dd1 and dd2 here. Going to cheat and get a takeaway or something.

swanriver · 24/05/2009 17:29

Tortoise, I don't know how far you are away, but I would go, because it will be fun even if it rains, just bring baked pots in foil! Or hot choc in a thermos!

Anyway we are back at the swimming pool. I am losing my fear of cold water, and have done 12 lengths today. And ds1 (rather slowly)has done 14!

Today I've

Been to church with all three(deeply mortified by their behaviour as usual but I think it is a question of just sticking with it. This time heard NOT a word of sermon or readings )
Took kids the long way home
Had delicious pasta for lunch
Cleaned kitchen again (is there something wrong with my kitchen I wonder?)
Supervised some serious violin practise
wandered around hopelessly in garden not knowing what to do first, moved some veg into sun
gave up and took 2 dcs swimming

Now home for more telly and no idea what's for tea except some ricepudding I made earlier. Think lentil soup and toasted cheese if I get time.

Hope you get through day TMH
Playhouse sounds a lovely way for Ed to play with his next door friends Grouchy
Galen, hope ds1 is now up on his survival skills and can find food in the wilderness, make his own shelter.
Starbear, hope that the pumpkin obliges.

swanriver · 24/05/2009 17:32

Happy anniversary Galen, I think like me you were a 1997 bride. I remember there was general election on day when we announced, and Labour won, landslide.

Tortoise · 24/05/2009 18:01

Thanks Swan. It is 20 mins by train so not too far.
Fask of hot choc is a good idea. Thats if the flask holds enough for my lot.

swanriver · 24/05/2009 18:43

Oh Gibbberish, another thing
Do not declutter your Hornby train, if you or your dh is at all interested in that sort of thing.
My BIL regrets selling his to buy pop records aged 18
When you have grandchildren, they will enjoy it.
Dh still has his old German set - we are just waiting for ds2 to build a model village for it. Perhaps in 10 years.

Starbear · 24/05/2009 20:58

Tortoise Go for the picnic. We have organised a Bat & Ball picnic and come hell or high water our friend better be there. Not sure what food to take. Will have to get up early to make a Tortilla and drumsticks.
Mad Hope your day turned out okay.
swan I agree keep the Hornby set.
grouchyoscar Love your son. It's it lovely to give something away and know they love it.

littleboyblue · 24/05/2009 21:07

grouchy Ahh @ Ed putting a satelite dish on the play house. Sweet.
galen Glad you had a good day. Happy Aniversary, hope you and dh have a wonderful evening.
grouchy Don't know about the stains I'm afraid. I'd agree with the suggestions already, see what the sun does, hope it helped.
Tortoise I'd still go I think. If it rains it rains. You could always just leave. What if you didn't go and it was a lovely day? You'd be angry you didn't just go. Better to leave and do something else last minute than not go at all iykwim.

Had a great day at the park, then went to my friends house and she got the paddling pool out for our ds's.
I am a bit sore and burnt now.
House front, I have done enough to keep me happy, but still can't face the ironing lol. I'll do it tomorrow when dp is here, I can shut myself in bedroom and he can play with ds's.
I am feeling like I'm getting back to the top of my game iyswim. This system cleaning has given me a bit of control back and I find I feel less guilty doing little often rather than all of it in one hit. Why didn't I do this years ago?

Tortoise · 24/05/2009 21:39

Thanks Star and LBB. We will go and hope the rain stays away at least while we eat. Don't fancy soggy sarnies.
Forecast looks like the worst of the rain won't hit Taunton until about 2-3 o'clock. Train home is about 3pm.
Must pack some food! Meant to do it all earlier.
I did get the flask out of the back of the cupboard and stick it in the DW ready to do hot choc in the morning.

TheMadHouse · 24/05/2009 22:16

DH tidied all away whilst I had a bath nad took mum home.
