littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 08:59

Hello. Can I join?
Me, my dp and our 2 ds's (21 months and 15 weeks) live in a 2 bedroom first floor flat, it's not huge, but big enough for the 4 of us. I try to do at least 1 hours housework a day, but sometimes get a bit lost in what needs doing and how often iyswim. For example, I'm pretty sure I changed our bedsheets twice last week . I used to be really good and have my own little cleaning rota and routine, but since the arrival of ds2, it seems to all be slowly slipping away from me!!!
I have seen this thread on here for ages, and always meant to have a little look to see what it was all about.
I checked out the links on the first post, so thought maybe it was a good idea to make a start on the babysteps.
I'm also hoping all you lovely ladies will be able to keep me motivated to stay on top of everything.
So, if someone has the time, can you quickly run through what the deal is? I see on today's mission is to dust the doorframes and things, so do you do just this? Or do you all have other things you do and have to fit today's mission in?
My aim for today is to get me and ds1 washed and dressed (ds2 done and asleep), go to supermarket, have a look at day1 babysteps, wipe down my kitchen counters, empty the rubbish and empty and soak the smelly nappy wrapper.

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 09:12

Well, I have had a quick look at the first 7 days of babysteps, and it all looks doable! I think I'd better get off MN now and jump in the bath before ds2 wakes and ds1 gets bored of cbeebies.

TheMadHouse · 20/05/2009 09:35

Morning all and welcome LittleBoyBlue

Fly is about creating a routine for yourself that is douable and easy. It is about instilling new habits and slowly getting there. In 15 mins you can achieve anything.

I would start with the babysteps and go from there, if you find a list helps for motivation then post a list.

Right today I have

got up dressed, plus boys dress
ran washer
hung washing outside
breakfast and pots washed

to do

Swimming with DS2
Whats for lunch - jackets cheese and beans
ironing
bedroom clean
hoover upstiairs
bolegnase in slow cooker for dinner
take mum home
find child benefit account details
find NI number

I also want to have an early night and read some of my book.

Later

grouchyoscar · 20/05/2009 11:22

Prof It will grow back you know. Slap on a nice hat

swanriver · 20/05/2009 11:33

Goodness its taken me 30 mins just to read the thread..

welcome lbb (who will wake him? No not I for if I do he's sure to cry..one of my fave songs to sing to kids)

ressurrected old hoover [sigh] by washing filters but still need a new one...
will have to take new one back to dratted ARGOS (do not buy something beginning with m & r)
Listened to the Police and danced
kitchen cleaned
some gardening done
2 loads of laundry
dw unloaded, loaded
A bit of not very satisfactory hoovering

now ironing

Galen, so far I've survived on one flapjack, tangerine and a cuppa. Hoping to get to lunch without anything else sweet.

What's for dinner? couscous with butternut squash, courgette tomato and chicken

Bb after ironing

DH said my hair was grey today!!!I need to avoid the morning sun.

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 11:40

galen I just ignore them! lol (joke!)
Well, I didn't manage a bath in peace, ds2 woke but luckily was kept amused by ds1 throwing all his toy cars in the water with me [eye rolling emoticon]
Just back from tescos. I bought a plastic washing up bowl to put in the cupboard under the sink to keep all that nasty washing up out of sight!
So now going to prepare ds1's lunch and get that bleach soaking in the sink and I suppose I can soak the nappy wrapper while I'm at it. So here we go, step 1 towards the shiny sink!
QUESTION, do you all have 2 drying cloths in your kitchen then? One for drying washing up and one for drying sink after use?

I'm far too lazy to prepare anything exciting or very nutritious for tea, ds1 today will eat at playgroup (3:30-5) and me and dp will have fish and chips I think. He's on nights this week so leaves at 9:30, so by time ds1 is asleep (currently in that joyful seperation anxiety phase), not much time to stuff our faces.
Anyway, can you all already see I am a bit of an old waffler?
BBL

TheMadHouse · 20/05/2009 11:47

Hello all again

Swimming was great - I love it with just one of them, DS1 starts his lessons next week. DS1 went without armbands today

I am having 5 mins with a cuppa

Have got DS1 out of preschool uniform
thinking about lunch

LBB I dont have two drying cloths. I use a microfiber one to dry my sink or (wispers) kitchen towel

Mum has brought beads for the boys to play with

swanriver · 20/05/2009 11:49

hmm that's a good question.
I have several cloths, never thought of having a special sink drying one.
I use a jey cloth on sink and worktops and tea towel on plates, I suppose...
