Glad you had a good time swimming, it is special with one isn't it..so much less chasing and wrestling involved.

Dd has just become interested in hama beads! Which are very fiddly. I don't even let the boys near them I'm afraid.
Ds2 likes making trains out of finished strings though!

swanriver · 20/05/2009 11:55

strings of normal beads I mean.
BB after IRONING.

gibbberish · 20/05/2009 12:08

lbb I use kitchen towel to dry and polish my sink - use window polish to really get it to gleam

Am finished house. Is all beautiful and clean again. Feel I have definitely accomplished something to have driven to Edinburgh (45mins from here) up to Crieff (45 mins from Edinburgh) and back to here (35 mins) then do the entire house, all by 12.00!

Going to have lunch then finish the rest this afternoon at my leisure

Tidy all rooms
Clean kitchen
Shine sink
Hoover
Dust
Wash floors
Swish and swipe bathroom
Water plants

Upstairs

Tidy my room and little ones' room
Swish and swipe bathroom
Emptied and cleaned bathroom bin
Cleaned shower curtain (how does it get so manky)
Hoover upstairs
Dust upstairs
Put away clothes

gibberish Wow. Great day for you then. Better get the Pims out
Well, the bleach is in now, so that's step one.
Is normal windowlene ok? I have been using baby lotion to shine all my stainless steal.
Ds2 is asleep, ds1 is eating luch, so better put the kettle on and throw a sandwich together

MaggieTulliver · 20/05/2009 12:13

Hi everyone,

welcome littleboyblue. I use a tea towel every 3rd day to dry my sink. I have a dishwasher so it doesnt get too mucky.

I've hoovered downstairs and picked everything off the floor. Thats It

gibbberish · 20/05/2009 12:15

Windowlene works for me. Much less messy than baby oil I find (too many sticky hands around here who keep making prints...)

And keep that Pims away from me!!! Have promised to not have any alcohol for 30 days Day 5 (or is it 6? They are all merging into one big sober blurr) and going strong(ish).

OP posts:
littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 12:17

Oh. Sorry! Good for you. All the more for me then

swanriver · 20/05/2009 12:39

Ironing done.

gibbberish · 20/05/2009 12:42

lol shine your sink BEFORE the pims mind, or you may end up drinking the windowlene and polishing with Pims!

Have come to a grinding halt. Had lunch and can't be bothered to do anything except mn.

Need to make about a thousand phone calls this afternoon and log onto my work laptop to check the network connection to my computer at work is working ok.

But can't really be arsed.

BBL ladies

galen · 20/05/2009 13:37

Oh forgot...I need to find our swimming bag that has all our swimming stuff in.It used to live on top of my wardrobe, but was evicted during the last bedroom zone clean....but I cant remember where it was rehomed.I'm fearful it may be somewhere in the black hole of despair...also known as our garage....which will mean a full scale recue expedition needs to be mounted....Bum!
Maybe we'll do something else instead of swimming tomorrow LOL....

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 13:45

galen Yes, do something else

My new favourite place is my kitchen sink! It looks lovely
I think I probabl should have done the washing up first

TheMadHouse · 20/05/2009 13:53

Afternoon all

Swan beads are obviously the thing at the momnet. My DS1 loves threading and making grovy neclaces for everyone and my mum bought some from the charity shop on her way to collect DS1 from school and he is sat doing that whilst I MN and DS2 is asleep on the sofa

Mum has done the ironing

I have:
Fed everyone
Washed swimming kit and hung out
Washed up and put away
Shinned my sink
Cleaned the cooker
wiped all the kitchen tops
wiped all stainless steel
Polished the bedroom
cleaned the mirror wardrobe doors
cleaned the inside of the bedroom windows
hoovered upstairs
Cleaned the patio doors

To Do

Ironing away
go to sainsburys with mum - she wants to look at the clothes 25% off

gibbberish · 20/05/2009 14:19

With my magic flywand galen

lbl the honourable flylady recommends you take a photo of your shiny sink and stick it somewhere so it can encourage you if and things start to get behind. I never did it mind you but it might work for some!

Have dropped dd2 and sis house as she is babysitting tonight. Have used a fortune in petrol today Will have to refill after driving dd3 and dd4 back and forth then back and forth again to dancing

Off to make curry for dinner. Ironing can wait until tonight. Got to tackle my bedroom tomorrow. Needs MAJOR clearing out including my wardrobe and under the bed. NOT looking forward to it but really, really needs done.

OP posts:
galen · 20/05/2009 14:37

gib LOL think I need one of those!
I have however done my wardrobe and under bed...(virtuous emoticon!) but the ensuite is still a disater zone!

Afternoon ladies.

I joined the slatterns thread but it turns out that I'm too much of a slattern to even keep up with the list making . I've tried FLYing before but only in a half hearted way. I want to learn routines and get organised. I'm feeling the CHAOS most of the time. But despite my Waynetta Slob ways, I just know there's an Anthea in me waiting to be discovered...

Do you use a control journal, have you built routines etc?

Desperately seeking sanity - Dil.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 20/05/2009 15:55

afternoon all,
have given up on couscous for dinner, the boys are having fish fingers and peas.

Dil, I really would recommend doing the baby steps, DON@T try to get all your house sorted at once, really do 10 mins at a time, 10 minutes is loads of time if you are focussed on getting a pile of paper put away from the table or shoes put away or emptying the washing machine.

I did make a control journal, mainly so I could recognise all the things I have to do in the week, it was also good to set aside paperwork to one day and not worry about it any other day.

I also find that by having things like clean the car - on a friday it nudges me to do it, even if I don't do it every week.

Having a set day for menu planning and grocery shopping has - I have found - saved me time and money, supermarket trips are either online or much faster as I knowexactly what I need.

Sorry I have waffled on. I am liking the idea of DesperatelyseekingSanity as a new MN name

scattyspice · 20/05/2009 16:20

Back again.

Hi Dil. I agree with Greyskull. Do the babysteps first. The key thing is the morn and eve routines and to get into the habbit of clearing up as you go. I've been flying for about 1yr and have only just started to attempt missions.

Done:
walked home from school (with dd on my shoulders ).
laundry reboot.
fil cards made

To do:
clear up glitter and glue!
make ds bed
dust (maybe)
packing list
mission

swanriver · 20/05/2009 16:24

Greyskull - it will only be me and dh eating the interesting part of the couscous if I know my dcs they like the plain stuff tho'
I can see now that it is lucky I do not have a garage.

Hello Dilettante. Still struggling with routines here but at least I know what I should be doing now.
Most helpful things for me have been timer,
meal planning, and thinking positively about what I HAVE done each day, rather than long lists of what I haven't done.

grouchyoscar · 20/05/2009 16:43

Swan Can I have a rundown of your couscous and butternut squash dish please. I've cooked the butter beans to mush

gibbberish · 20/05/2009 17:12

Hi dil and welcome

I do have a control journal and try to stick to it. Is much along the lines of the missions (i.e. follow the 'zones') but includes a bit more in the way of detailed cleaning. What I mean is it is more specific to my house. It helps me keep on top of each room and know that it is having a really good clear out and clean every once to two months. Although have slipped a bit and my bedroom and under the stairs probably have things living in them by now

As the others have said, it is definitely worth starting with the baby steps and building up to the missions and a control journal if you want to.

Dinner done and dusted and kitchen cleaned. Last washing on. One dd at dancing. Just to drop the other, bring the first back the collect the second later. Feel like I have been driving all day Am going to advertise as a taxi service if this goes on!
