Divan beds. To valance or not to valance?

Is there an alternative to valances to cover up the bed base.

Tell me everything you know.

How about making your own with a single pleat at each corner - I think you'd have to have some shape to it, or it'd just look weird.

You can get sheets with inbuilt valences, you still get the frills but at least they get washed every time you wash the sheet. PLus iirc it wasn't frilly, more straight with a bit in the middle that was cleverly folded, didn't look as old fashioned iyswim

You want a box valance. No frills but no hideous divan base fabric.

yes - just get a plain one with corner pleats - most places, eg m&s, next etc do them.

i know this is a sensitive subject but...
i'm not getting a new bed, i luuuuurrve my bed. yes it was MIL's choice (wedding present) but it is amazing.

the base isn't offensively patterned or anything, it's plain white (well maybe not exactly white)

How mean to even consider having a valance.

A valance denies daylight to your dustbunnies and if you can't see 'em you might forget to feed 'em, with horrific results. Reporting you to the RSPCA now.
