It's raining here in not so sunny Spain too.

Amapoleon · 19/01/2009 08:44

Doesn't having dh and kids around mean a lot more work on Monday mornings. I'm really enjoying flying and feeling quite houseproud, I can't believe it!

Does anyone have any recipes for mince, not spag bol, chilli, cottage pie etc? Thanks

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 19/01/2009 09:00

Morning all

Amapoleon - how about home made meatballs and or burgers?

TMH - thanks for thread - you'll never get my ruby slippers there's no place like home... there's no place like home - there's no place like home.

Scatty - Sit ups on top of housework - very energetic!

EHM - Hope DD has fun at pre-school

No much of the zone to do for me this week as we blitzed the bedroom last week as it was driving me mad. Do need to sort out a few draws though.

So
Done
Beds made
bathrooms ss'd
dishwasher unloaded and reloaded
washing machine unloaded and reloaded
packed lunch
DS1 to school

to do

swanriver · 19/01/2009 09:18

Greyskull - Make tree? 3-D?

Good morning also raining here.
Dd has gone to school despite saying she wanted to stay at home so feel like I've gained some time.
DONE
Everyone in good mood - bkfsted and to school
Made a temporary raft for ds2 out of corks and wool for some project which he only mentioned am.

TO DO
control diary says: (and if I hadn't looked in it I would not have realised these were priorities - everything seems different in morning v. evening)

morning routines - beds dw etc
dump garden rubbish
start assembling passport application info. (we all need Irish passports and they've changed the RULES)
put loose wool in a large red carpetbag last seen in my cupboard

Did you have a nice day off Scatty?
EHM hope man helps with kit.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 19/01/2009 09:22

Yup we are having a green week so I am doing a giant tree brown base with big white cloud round the top for the children to fill with green paint hand prints for leaves.
should be quite fun

swanriver · 19/01/2009 09:23

Re: Mince. Stuffed cabbage, lasagne made with pork mince in little balls, Indian version of shepherds pie with peas. Can't do links. Pancake stuffed with ragu sauce (Delia W Coll.) Moussaka with aubergine, potato, and cheese soufleey sauce on top.

TheMadHouse · 19/01/2009 09:25

Sounds fab Greyskull Swan are you all Irish in London then?

We are off to messy toddlers in 10 mins then back to collect DS1 from preschool

OP posts:
swanriver · 19/01/2009 09:30

Feels like it round here, a home from home. Esp in rain. I've always lived in London, tho parents in Eire now.

intravenouscoffee · 19/01/2009 09:39

Morning all. Horrible day here too - maybe there's just a big cloud over the whole of Europe?

We've had a manic few days as DH has been off and we've done lots of house stuff and family stuff which has been great but think DD needs a quiet 'at home' day today. By tea time last night she was a nightmare because she was so tired. Think a morning clearing out cupboards and finding stuff for her dressing up box might be the way to go!

Amapoleon I've used this chilli recipe a few times which makes loads and loads so I can freeze a couple of batches for another time. I sometimes bulk buy mince from our butcher and turn it into lots of freezer meals which is a God send on evenings when I'm too lazy busy to cook from scratch.

Countingthegreyhairs · 19/01/2009 10:02

Morning all

Posting from work so must rush but just wanted to say finding the welcome/encouragement on this thread really helpful

Left house this morning with shined sink, beds made, floors clear and clean, and morning and evening routines coming together. Even have tonight's dinner ready and waiting in the fridge. Still loads to declutter upstairs but at least now I can actually see a path to the mess and things are running sufficiently well that I can get to the point of tackling it iyswim. So thanks everyone. Your lists have really kicked me in to action!

I'm on 19th baby-step - haven't managed to stick to set bed time yet (17th baby-step) - but know it will make a huge difference if I can ...does everyone else manage this?

swanriver · 19/01/2009 10:19

COUNTING, Yes that's a tricky one, and I find myself dithering more and more as deadline approaches (meant to be 10.30 to 11.00pm) putting away one more thing, chatting. I'm like a baby whose bedtime routine takes 2 hours. I have used reverse pyschology for now. Don't shine sink, don't tidy up much don't obsessively get everything ready. Do obvious things, leftovers away in fridge, dw on, everything washed up, school clothes checked but the most important thing ws to start changing my bedtime pattern because being tired (from late night)next day meant got off to a bad start with everything else, thus negating all advantages of tidying up last thing ifyswim.
Anyway, that is just me.

Dd has returned from school. I think she needs another sofa day with her earache.

Wolfcub · 19/01/2009 10:47

morning all

just a quicky as am at work, will be back at lunch to catch up on thread

done
bed made
bit of tidying in living room and kitchen
bathroom bin emptied and out
bathroom S & S
ds taken to granny's

intravenouscoffee · 19/01/2009 10:52

Have just done mission and discovered that we have 3 empty drawers under our bed! Had assumed they were full of junk that I'd shoved in there after the move but no, they are totally empty. Am disproportionately excited but thought you flyladies might share my joy

Back later after a trip to the charity shops.

galen · 19/01/2009 11:00

Morning al!
mad thanks for thread and yay for your BP
swan sorry about your DD
everyoneelse hi!
Also pouring here... again
Checking in a bit late today! But wanted to make the most of the fact that DS2 went down for nap straight after school run ( then again being up half the night does make you tired LOL!)and so have blitzed through house blessing

Done:
Morning routine
Potatoes and veg prepared for dinner ( roast chicken we didn't have yesterday!)
General tidy and taken down remaining part decs
Home blessing: dusted up and down
cleaned all inside windows
wiped down doors and frames
emptied bins
swept floors
still need to :Hoover (when DS wakes)
Mop floors (later!)
Also to do:
sort and put away clean washing, get nappies on to dry, more washing in WM
chicken in oven later
Lots of new jigsaws with DD4!

hoping to maybe do mission, and start on one or two of zone cleaning tasks - luckily did the ensuite last week (finally!) so that is a good start!

well must go - dd4 needs jigsaw help BBL!

swanriver · 19/01/2009 11:02

icoffee. And what will you now fill them with?

DONE
kitchen
catfood area

cheekychickenknickers · 19/01/2009 11:22

I share your Joy IV I have some bits you can put in there if you need some help filling them

TheMadHouse · 19/01/2009 11:28

Hello all

Back from collecting DS1 from Preschool in the nasty cold rain.

I have lunch on

Then DS2 will nap and I hope to start on my bedroom, whilst DS1 maybe helps.

I also have the home blessing to to, but we are out from 1.30 to 3pm.

Dinner is steak and chips tonight.

OP posts:
swanriver · 19/01/2009 11:45

Made beds upstairs
Flashed everything in bathrooms and left to soak
Started on hoovering

Hoover blocked, unblocked with piece of hosepipe(aha) and thought I would look up home blessing as assumed it meant a spiritual moment. to my chagrin see it is MORE CLEANING. really thought it meant going from room to room visualizing sea, mountains, grass, cosy suppers.

Oh well, I suppose I was doing it anyway.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 19/01/2009 11:47

off to messy play - not alot achieved this mornign
have tidied toys but DS2 has messed them up again
have done the tree for messyplay
have dones some banking I forgot about
have replied to a party invitation

back later.

intravenouscoffee · 19/01/2009 12:00

Thank you for the many kind offers but I have PLENTY of things to put in the drawers

Swan I love the idea of home blessing being a relaxing meditation in each room of the house. So disappointing that it has to be dusting, vacuuming and emptying the bin!

Right, just having lunch with DD and then will start some house blessing which may involve the visualisation of montains, seas and cosy suppers
