Welcome one, welcome All

But this is for the Babysteppers

Have fun everyone.

Thanks for the confidence boost Swan. I have one DS of 18months and have lived in chaos since he arrived! Hoping flylady will help be get more organised.

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 03/01/2009 16:35

Afternoon all

We have had a fantastic day out, lots of walking and I got my laminator

Took back some PJ's for the boys that were the wrong size.

We have given the boys the last of their christmas pressies, so they are now having fun with the playmobil police boat, small pirate ship and take aling dolls house.

It is nice to drag out the giving over the week, as it means that nearly everything gets appreicated.

I have just been shot with a cannonn ball - poor me.

DS1 has a top on today rather than a shirt, which means his collar bone is definatly healing - yippee

galen · 03/01/2009 18:31

Sounds like you have all had great days!
DH took the kids out for some much needed fresh air this afternoon. I stayed to continue my cleaning blitz!
Managed to get quite a bit done without the little darlings trashing it as fast as I clean it!
Have made a few interesting discoveries:

  1. The more I clean, the more filthy I realise the house is. Bit of a downer - but I'm trying to not to be too perfectionist or get bogged down in detail!
  2. I actually quite like cleaning windows - strange but true!
  3. I REALLY need a new mop LOL

So today I have :
Blitzed dining room

Hoovered lounge and stairs

Washed and dried 3 lots of washing ( not yet put away though!)And finally got nappies on to wash.

Cleaned upstairs bathroom

Cleared hall of all junk ( yes again LOL)

swept all floors

Mopped kitchen floor.

Shone sink about 400 times!

Dishwasher on, emptied, reloaded , on again

Dinner cooked and cleared away

3 children in Pjs and tucked up - 3 to go!

Still need to :
Iron school uniform(yes it's been waiting 2 weeks LOL)

Finish thorough clean of lounge.

Then tomorrow I start on the landing and bedrooms - that will take a looong time - sigh.
Still I am getting there.
Day 4 of babysteps too tomorrow. Need to find some sticky notes...
Looking forward to starting some missions on Mon as well....

I am really hoping that this time with FLY I can keep on top of it all and not let it degenerate again.
Right off to spend sme time with 3 older DC's.

Wolfcub · 03/01/2009 18:34

arse just lost another long post

baileys if you are still tumble drier hunting do not buy a Hoover from comet apparently Hoover will not do anything with them if somehing goes wrong bcsuse comet are not buying them from an authorized supplier

Done

Been to bank to change some payments and check for dodgy transactions
Been to order and pay for blind and have spent the rest of the day looking for bargain bedding and the second part of the gentleman bastard sequence, amazon is my next Internet stop after I've posted this

scattyspice · 03/01/2009 18:38

Everyone's been very busy LOL.

Galen you have reminded me that I need to iron school and work uniforms tomorrow (also left it 2 weeks LOL).

Done:
laundry
applied for replacement driving licence
dinner had a cleared away
DC in bath.

To do
patch DS trousers.

Tomorrow:
ironing
thank you cards
DS homework!!

wendythepositivethinker · 03/01/2009 18:39

Hello everyone, I'm back again after a busy few days.

We went to Chester Zoo yesterday, it was fab and we all had fun. I took down the decorations but they have still to be finally all packed away, will do that tonight. Then I need to do some 'declittering' as I think of it now (was that you Rubes) and sort out the house a bit.

Sounds like everyone has been busy. Glad DS collar bone better, Mad and you are feeling better too. Enjoy the laminator!

Hello to all the newbies, looking forward to getting to know you all!

Greyskull well done on chucking in the messy play!

How's everyone doing with their Resolutions? I am going to finalise my list tonight, only a few days late and will post tomorrow!

Curry for tea, hoping for a spicy night

See you tomorrow

wendythepositivethinker · 03/01/2009 18:40

Scatty thanks you just reminded me to put Thank you cards on my list for tomorrow!

Wolfcub · 03/01/2009 18:54

book purchased but have been naughty and have also ordered a new rachel Allen cookbook

Dw loaded and on have put frying pan in it before I get tempted to use it to batter do to death with

wendythepositivethinker · 03/01/2009 19:11

Wolfcub I got that Bake by Rachel Allen for Christmas, it's fab! What did you order?
Galen don't 'crash and burn'!
Really am going now, see you later

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 03/01/2009 19:32

Evening - I have Bake too and love it. Try the st Stephens day muffins if you have any leftover christmas pud, or get some reduced ones now as they are stunningly easy and tastey.

Mini Mads are in bed, after watching that wipeout thing, which they found thoroughly amusing - I am not sure I like laughing at other people falling off things, but DH said its a boy thing.

I am going to do my home blessing tomorrow rather than monday, as we start our new routine on Monday, with DS1 at preschool in morning, then Lunch and then DS2 nap and me and DS1 together time - so I am not sure yet as to where the cleaning will fit in.

I am now looking into the Journal jar things

Wolfcub · 03/01/2009 20:19

I bought the food for home one, I got food for loving for Christmas and bake is next on my list to buy

mad I've been thinking about a journal jar type thing too but as a way of achieving some of my resolutions I'll try to explain what I mean and maybe you could tell me if it sounds like a good plan. I don't actually want to write a journal but what I was thinking of was a jar of positive phrases, little tasks, and thought provoking phrases that I can pull out to use to direct my thoughts towards being more confident, positive, assetive etc

wendythepositivethinker · 03/01/2009 20:55

Hi I'm back. Just watched that Eurovision programme which was amusing. Put the Xmas decorations all away and labelled in their cardboard boxes ready to go in the garage. We have a QUADRUPLE garage in our rented house (we're not that posh really!) and it is like a bomb site, with about a metre of floor space at any one point. Shameful so that is on my list of NYR (New Year Resolutions!)

Mad thanks for the recommendation, the book is fantastic, isn't it. We are veggie, are there any recipes for us in the food for loving one Wolf?

Journal jar is sounding good to me. A friend of mine does one. She has a jar filled with bits of paper which have questions on them, and each week she draws one out, sticks it into a scrap book, adds pictures and photos and writes her entry. She did it every week last year and her scrap book is lovely now, a great keepsake for her children. Is this what you mean? I guess it's just a way of keeping a journal, the jar is for prompting you, as you say Wolfcub

Had our curry but no spice yet

Jas · 03/01/2009 20:57

Hello
Huge thread.

I took the dc out all day, so no FLYing from me, but dp cleaned the kitchen including on top of all the cupboardsand tidied all of downstairs while we were out.

I was hoping ds would be tired out and they would all get to sleep early. Not succeeded so far

Tomorrow's plan is to get up early (school on Monday and they have been waking at 9 this week) tidy bedrooms and put decs in the loft.

wendythepositivethinker · 03/01/2009 21:07

Right i'm done procrastinating. Here's my list of 'Resolutions', they are all designed to make me happier and thus be a better Mummy!

Go to bed early!
Get up early and set my alarm (I got a Mood alarm clock, Mad
on your recommendation!)
*Eat healthily i.e. less sugar, more whole foods, nuts and seeds etc
*Sort out the garage
*Read more and watch more quality TV instead of wasting time doing nothing
*Routines and flying!
*Have more sex
*More Me time and time off from the children
*Have more family get togethers i.e. Sunday lunch with parents/PIL
*Keep up exercise: yoga and running
*Try be happy and not obsess about buying a house!

Think that's it. Good luck to me that's all I can say. Oh no I'm supposed to be thinking positively

Wolfcub · 03/01/2009 21:29

wendy not sure food for living would be worth buying for you but it would probably bs worth borrowing from the library

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 03/01/2009 22:24

Wendy I was veggie for 11 years till I fell pregnant with DS2 and then just had to have meat I have a couple of good veggie books in the guarage - CAT me your address or FB me it and I will post some to you.

Wolf I found a couple of web sites you might like, although I am sure that there is a book somewhere full of inspirational phrases. I want to pick something that I have found joy from or in from each day, so I have bought a chepo cdiary with out dates from tesco. I have also ordered a little box of big thoughts for Winstons wish to do for the boys - I want them to know how much I love them if anything was to ever happen. That is why I did the open letter - I am printing it out and putting it in their keepsake boxes.

I just want to be thankful for more things. I have a good example of everything I dont want to be in my mum - she rang me this evening to tell me she had found her disabled badge. No sorry you did give it back to me or anything, no she berated me for it not being where I told her it was and then said it still was my fault So rather than be a glass half empty, I need to be a glass half full.

I am going to print and laminate my resolutions tomorrow and put them up on the wall.

Catch you all tomorrow

dylsmum1998 · 03/01/2009 22:34

evening all. i really need to get back to flying!!
hope all had a good christmas. i've had a busy but enjoyable christmas- hence no mn for ages.
i took my decs down this evening how is it i'm so excited when i get them out and put them up, yet so releived when i put them away??

i need to organise more storage space for dc, going to start with ds's bedroom as his looks easiest to sort

so need to find somewhere i can get good, yet cheap furniture- think i may be off to ikea next weekend. need to measure up what space he has and see what we can find.
might check out the oxfam shop down the high street as they often have some good bits of furniture.

have made some new years resolutions;
my first one is to find a nice financially stable fella
ok so in reality very unlikely so the more (hopefully) acheivable ones

take more time out for me
more quality time for dc
less tv for all
organise myself so i rush from one thing to the next less, and hopefully as a result i'll acheive more as i get in such a muddle i forget what i'm doing!

AnneOfAvonlea · 04/01/2009 07:35

Morning all.

Decorations coming down today. That always makes me feel like cleaning a bit which is needed.

Mad - you mum is such a negative influence in your life. You could do with some distance from her imo.

swanriver · 04/01/2009 08:39

If someone is nearby it is difficult to have distance. My mum can be quite unbearable to live at close quarters with, and still flares up in classic critical mode when I'm with her for any length of time. But she is a thousand times better than she was. The criticism is a default setting, a way of feeling powerful when you are in a bad mood, upset, bored, frustrated. Once I saw that I didn't feel it was me she was getting at, just everyone in her path. And yes you are right Anne, I tried to keep out of her path; then by good fortune managed to build a different sort of relationship with her, mostly through grandchildren I think. I do think you are heroic to keep dealing with this situation TMH, the only comfort I can give is that your mother is probably showing her love in the only way she knows. Sorry to bang on.

To Do
Go to church (haven't been for two weeks)
clear out my study and turn into dressingroom for husband (NEW PLAN to get rid of his clothes from our bedroom)
hang up pic in kitchen
assemble lasagne
Go for another very long walk pm
Put thank you lettersin envelopes
Find uniform/PE BAGS
Sort out stationery drawer in kitchen PENCILS needed for homework
Read dd's reading book with her

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 04/01/2009 09:16

Morning all

Anne and Swan You are both right in your own way about my mum. When we lived down south it was even worse in some ways as she would visit and stay for 2 weeks, which invarably lead to massive arguements. I do know that she thinks I am the best mum in the world and would do anything for the boys. I want them to have a good relationship with her, as I did my two grandads (both my grans were dead when I was born). I feel a lot better about her now I have had the CBT - I just keep repeating my mantea - I am not responsible for my mothers happiness

We all need some fresh air today - I consolidated the childrens christmas chocolates - they still have loads, but they have been eating some this morning already

I have cleaned the downstairs loo, boys tend to miss and I think it was starting to smell like a mens urinal

I am going to do a toto list as I want to be on top of things before tomorrow

Home blessing
Tesco Order
Polish
Hoover
Tidy
Mop downstairs
Whats for lunch
Washing
Ironing
Outside christmas decs down and into the loft
Sort childrens toys and stoarge boxes
Baths for all
Clothes out for tomorrow
set alarms (DS1's first morning session at Preschool)

galen · 04/01/2009 09:41

Morning all!

wendy - good advice about crashing - I woke up feeling rubbish. Really can't be ill again - have only jut recovered from my 3rd virus of the month. Mind you have been up half the night with the littlest 2.
Think I may have overdone it a bit!
Going to take it easier today.

Need to tidy the bedrooms, and put clothes away. Still haven't ironed uniform so must do that.
Will do day 4 of babysteps, and quick clean and tidy of downstairs, but will lay off heavy cleaning for today - definaately need to pace myself.

Have a great Sunday all.

starbear · 04/01/2009 10:12

Should be making the bed instead of on Mumsnet.
So I'm going to log off as soon as I've done a list.
change sheets on my bed
Put make-up on for afternoon children's party
lay out my clothes.
Tidy Kitchen if I have time.
Go to party
Before returning do Supermarket shop.
Tonight after Ds bed time. make up Monday's 'To Do List' and find Monday's thread to post.

Wolfcub · 04/01/2009 10:20

morning all

We are just getting up it's my last day of holiday todya both do and I are back to work tomorrow there is loads to do bit I doubt that it will all get done to be honest

mad the mum thing is a difficult one I have problems wihh mine and always have she has always been illl and it has had a huge pact on my life it's taken three major bouts of depression and three lots of councelling just to be able to deal with it all on a day to day basis. I love her to bits now but she still has this amazing capacity to totally destroy any feelings of happiness I have. I know by the look on her face at teatime when I pick ds up exactly what mood she's in and I can pretty much guarantee that if it's the bad face I'll be feeling crappy by the time i leave her house. The whole mother daughter thing has given me a real complex about having a daughter of my own as I do not want the cycle to continue as it has done through at least the previous 3 generations of my family

starbear · 04/01/2009 10:22

Wolfcub, My Mum gets on famously with my sister. It's just not everyone can be bestfriends with their Mum. I'm not too bothered as it all my own making.

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 04/01/2009 10:33

Wolf It is also one of the reasons I am so glad to have boys My brother just ignores her, then she gets more angry with me.
