Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 27/12/2008 18:43

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

DH has nagged me this morning to get some tidying up done (together) and has said he can only help so much and that I will need to do 'a bit more' during the week

I havnt posted for a week hence why nothing has got done

I feel very tired (slept loads this weekend) and fear I may be slipping back into 'whats the point' mildly depressed state.

pushchair · 11/01/2009 12:59

LonelystRessedandBlue · 11/01/2009 16:25

JustKeepSwimming, the problem is nearly all days are like it. I'm a lone parent, 1 ds, who works (not the only one I know, just giving background), this last month I have been trying to do 3 peoples jobs mostly by myself, which has lead to overtime, which has lead to housework being done even less than normal. Evenings I have no energy (at least whilst the work situation is as it is), so weekends are it, and I just can't seem to get the motivcation. Im sat here trying to persuade myself to go and get the washing out and get the next load in so we will have clothes for school/work this week when all I want to do is curl up in bed and cry.

I know this isnt the thread for this but I just need to say it. I am normally a positive person but I am just feeling so low today and knowing I have stuff I need to do before tomorrow but can get myself motivated enough to do is really not helping

JustKeepSwimming · 11/01/2009 16:29

Oh LRB - some un-MN (((hugs))) for you
don't worry about this not being 'the thread' for it.

Can you break things down into smaller chunks? would one more load of washing do it? can you just get the essentials done?
Housework is greatly over-rated IMO
and a bit of dirt won't hurt...

giraffescantdancethetango · 11/01/2009 16:32

Do whatever you like today to make yourself feel better, when you feel more positive you have more motivation to do crappy things.

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 16:38

awwww LRB

LonelystRessedandBlue · 11/01/2009 16:41

Have sat, have cried, have listened to the song of the day a couple more times (that however is very normal), am going to go and get this washing out and a new load in, then am gonna come back.

Thank you for the comments. Smaller chunks? I break it down as far as I can as it is. I hate housework and put it as detailed as possible so each small thing is a thing done if you see what I mean.

Right, washing....

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 16:43

LRB - that's the way to do it.
