Anybody want to join me in some crisis cleaning today?

Last thing I want to be doing on xmas eve, BUT just realised that although we will be at other peoples houses for xmas etc, we are constantly visiting family until the 29th, which is my DDs birthday and we are having guests over!

So, anyway, I am going to try and do some flylady style crisis cleaning - don't get on with the rest of the flylady stuff but this sounds like it might work!

Only have a couple of hours though as I have to go into town to meet DH on his break to get last min xmas stuff.

DD tagging along, although hoping to get bits started now - waashing on etc, easy bits and then do the proper crisis cleaning when she goes for a nap, and then go out when she wakes up.

Also waiting for a delivery before 12pm.

AND still have a few bits of wrapping to do!
ARGH!

Oh and meant to say, if anybody has done any CC before and want to give me some tips - you would be more than welcome!

CC - stay strong and repeat in your head it's for the best, it's for the best.

I'm supposed to be decluttering and cleaning BUT my head really hurts so I'm going to take some decongestiant stuff and ibprobrufen and hopefully in half an hour I will be ok enough to get on with it!

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 10:56

Well I haven't done anything so far!! Other than put a wash on, and fill the sink for washing up. BUT dd is not making it easy in the slightest. But she should sleep for at least an hour, so that should give me enough time to at least make the house look better. Hoping it won't take toooo long in town but dreading it as its going to be packed!! Then even if I only get
1-2 hours now, and then 1-2 hours later, it should at least help. It is not THAT bad, but don't want to be doing it on my dds birthday !

Mine is quite bad (usually quite spotless and every night just a case of wiping down and hoovering) but I've been ill for ages and it's built up so theres clutter everywhere so not just cleaning but also tidying that needs doing and I won't relax and enjoy my time off unless it's sorted!

Right heres my list to do.......
Declutter (all window sills, work tops, round the pc desk, on top of tumble dryer, sideboard)
Sort under the stairs
Find out what the strange smell upstairs is (smells like food thats been forgotten about but no idea where its coming from!)
Empty bins
Mop the floors
Hoover everywhere
Tidy my room
Sort dd2's room
Once over in bathrooms

Thats about it I think.

LoveMyGirls · 24/12/2008 11:02

Also need to dry and put away washing
Find and iron clothes for all of us to wear tomorrow!

Peckarolloveragain · 24/12/2008 11:04

Im up for that, shall we do it in fifteen minute blocks?

Im going to go and do fifteen minutes in the kitchen

magnolia74 · 24/12/2008 11:07

Have looked at my cooker top this morning and realised I can't possibly cook on it tomorrow But I haven't any cleaning stuff and can't go out so good old elbow grease it is.

I also have to
Hoover whole house
Wash kitchen floor
wipe over sinks and bath
Try to get rid of the awful smell in dd1's room (her radiator leaked badly and the chemicled water inside it stinks)
Disninfect the dogs bit in the garden
Take rubbish to dump as bin is full and no collections for 2 weeks!!!!

magnolia74 · 24/12/2008 11:08

Ok I'm off for 15 minutes

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 11:17

I have the whole house to do, my definition of not THAT bad is that you can move and it is not unhyginic! Yours doesn't sound worse than mine at all! Lol.

DD in bed...off for 15 mins in the kitchen!

Madmentalbint · 24/12/2008 11:28

I'm supposed to be cleaning but I'm on MN instead. Ooops.

I've got to tidy and hoover whole house. Put stacks of clothes away. Tidy DC's bedrooms. Clean kitchen. Clean bathrooms. Walk dog. Wash floors downstairs. Heaps of cooking to do.

I suppose I'd better get cracking. Bye!

magnolia74 · 24/12/2008 11:32

well that was 20 minutes, cleaned cooker, put out recycle tins and grabbed frosties for breakfast

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 11:36

Done 15 mins in kitchen - although more like 20 like magnolia.

Managed to do:
washing up
Put away yesterdays washing up
Started to clear sides
Took rubbush out
New bag in bin.

Now for my 15 mins in the dining room/playroom/junkroom!!

Peckarolloveragain · 24/12/2008 11:37

Mine was more like 30 and I

Put some washing in
Put dishwasher on
Put some rubbish in bin
Wrote out a few gift cards for tomorrow

Next 15 mins carry on in kitchen

schneebly · 24/12/2008 11:38

I don't normally do this but need to today I think! - my list to do is:

tidy kids bedroom
once over bathroom
sweep and mop hallway
finish cleaning kitchen
washing up
hang washing up and put more on
hoover whole house

sounds like a lot - I have been busy at uni them all my xmas shopping got left to last minute so now it is xmas eve and my house still messy

I am the queen on procrastination - right off to do a 15 minute slot and report back.

courvoisierbrandycreamolafoam · 24/12/2008 11:41

here's mine for when i get home from work at 2
clean bathroom( mould growing up side of loo)
get dh to clear all his crap from corner
dust and hoover living room
move table and set for friends tonight
hoover rest of house
put load of tea towels in wash
mop kitchen floor
clean out fire
light fire

magnolia74 · 24/12/2008 11:50

Well ds1 is now in bed so I can't hoover or put clothes away so will have to wipe over bathrooms....

Back in 15

alicecrail · 24/12/2008 11:50

My list is :

Hang out washing,
do washing up and clean kitchen,
hoover entire house,
clean bathroom,
put new sheets on beds,
put more washing on ......and on......and on...etc.
(am very excited about tumble dryer and dishwasher coming after xmas!)
Has anyone actually achieved anything or just going off to make cups of tea?

schneebly · 24/12/2008 11:56

I have in the last 15 mins cleaned out the fireplace for Santa Claus, hoovered the living room and dumped any out of date/yucky stuff from fridge. Am off for another 15 mins...

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 11:57

Done 20 mins in back room and did:

General tidy up
Clear dining room table
Clean table and folded away
Fold dining chairs up and put away.

NOW off to do 15 mins in the living room/hallway!

OP posts:

magnolia74 · 24/12/2008 12:08

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 12:14

OP posts:
schneebly · 24/12/2008 12:16

okay now I have hung up the washing and put more on, I have empried the bins and took the rubbish out and I have found my digital camera which I hadn't seen in a while!

LadyOfWaffle · 24/12/2008 12:20

Made the mistake of 'just sitting down at computer for a min...'

schneebly · 24/12/2008 12:20
