Anybody want to join me in some crisis cleaning today?

Last thing I want to be doing on xmas eve, BUT just realised that although we will be at other peoples houses for xmas etc, we are constantly visiting family until the 29th, which is my DDs birthday and we are having guests over!

So, anyway, I am going to try and do some flylady style crisis cleaning - don't get on with the rest of the flylady stuff but this sounds like it might work!

Only have a couple of hours though as I have to go into town to meet DH on his break to get last min xmas stuff.

DD tagging along, although hoping to get bits started now - waashing on etc, easy bits and then do the proper crisis cleaning when she goes for a nap, and then go out when she wakes up.

Also waiting for a delivery before 12pm.

AND still have a few bits of wrapping to do!
ARGH!

Actually, I am not going to eat yet. I am too desperate to get this all done! Will do some lunch when DD wakes up which will save me doing it twice. She will wake up soon anyway.

Right, so off to do 15 mins in the bathroom! Should be an easy one as I clean it most days, just need to give the floor a mop and take DDs toys out that we washed in the bath. Hoping to get it all done in the 15 mins.

Haven't done dd1's smelly bedroom, dd4 asked for lunch so sat down for a quick cuppa..

schneebly · 24/12/2008 12:32

well I only did 9 mins there and didn't clean the bathroom but I did hoover the stairs and upstairs hallway including all the little nooks and crannies on the stairs where the dog hairs (eurgh) gather. I am not going to get DS2 and myself a little bit - DS1 and DH are out shopping. After lunch I will tackle the bathrooma nd the boys bedroom then upstairs is sorted and I am only left with the kitchen and the dowstairs hallway I think...

HSMM · 24/12/2008 12:46

cleared the dining table, then came on here!

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 12:54

Didn't get to finish the bathroom because DD woke up.

Both eating beans on toast now for lunch so having a little break.

Annoying as I do need to stop to go into town. Really in the mood to get it all done. I know I will end up not getting much done when I get back!

Going to put a second wash on before I leave and hang them both up when I get home.

jobs done so far...
living room tidied and hoovered
fire cleaned out
stairs hoovered
upstairs hallway hoovered
rubbish taken out
washing hung up and more washing put on
fridge cleared of waste
lunch made and eaten
washing up done

still to do...
clean kithen worktops and floor
clean cooker top
sweep and mop hallway floor
tidy and hoover kids bedroom
once over bathroom
hoover dining room

I think that's it My list seems to have grown from when I started!

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 16:31

Just got back from town, DD is asleep.

I am really tired, but still have loads to do. Can't decide if I should do another round of Cleaning or just relax for an hour before DD wakes up!

Argh, got loads to do but so tired! I am pregnant and baby seems to be sitting on a nerve or something today and it is so painful! Struggled to walk home!

I had a mad frenzy cleaning today - I got some of those micro fibre cloths (3 for a pound in Poundland!) and they're brilliant! So good, I couldn't stop cleaning - which is very unusual

LoveMyGirls · 24/12/2008 19:01

I finished about 4.30 then my bf came round for a cuppa then dp made the dd's tea while I had a soak in the bath, I feel like a new woman! House is immaculately clean and clutter free so nice to have my home back for one week just for me and my family (am a cm like you CMJ and it takes over so its nice to have a break from it)

chloemegjess · 24/12/2008 19:56

I am annoyed now. My bathroom was spotless. Thought me and DD could have a bath together before she goes to bed as I haven't had much time to play properly with her today. DH rang my mobile said he was locked out, so had to get me and DD out the bath we had planned to stay in for as long as possible, go open the door, then he didn't take his shoes off, and came in the bathroom which was wet where we had rushed out and now the floor is filthy where water and shoes do not mix!

And have done so much washing that I still need to hang up, which is going to be everywhere but I don't mind too much as we will be out all day.

Also, cooked dinner and DH didn't think to tell me that work gave them party food before he left!

I am still desperate to get it done!

I am going to do some cleaning in the kitchen now while DH has a shower. I was doing so well earlier.

Ok. I need to do this today. Anyone want to join me?

We had s lovely, relaxed day yesterday and got up this morning to find our flat is like a bomb's hit it. We have family arriving tomorrow so need to do everything!

Outside

  • sweep up (uneaten) reindeer food

Stairs and hallway

  • general declutter and hoover

Kitchen

  • dishes
  • worktops
  • floor

Bathroon

  • general clean

Living Rooms

  • hoover/ sweep
  • tidy away Christmas presents
  • hang up Christmas cards
  • declutter

DD's room

  • hoover
  • make bed

And finally, we have to make our bedroom, where we generally dump everything that doesn't belong anywhere else, habitable for my parents who will be sleeping in there!

I've never done this before but from reading this thread, do I just do 15 minute stints and concentrate on one area at a time?

Ok, I'm off to make a start on the kitchen...

cikecaka · 26/12/2008 09:52

Will have to join you in 15min stints. house like a bomb hit it after Santa and very generous relatives visiting my 4 dc. Had 11 for dinner yesterday.

Starting on dining room. Talk back at 10.05

Laugs · 26/12/2008 10:13

Right, just done about 15 minutes. Started on kitchen - washed one load of dishes and wiped down worktops. Got slightly distracted by putting a load of leftovers on to make soup, but I didn't want to leave it until later and make the kitchen a mess again.

Off for another 15 to finish off the kitchen.

cikecaka · 26/12/2008 10:16

Back again! Table cleaned, put wine stained table cloth in wash, brushed floor and stacked extra chairs. . Next the kitchen, going to take a lot longer than 15mins!!!

cikecaka · 26/12/2008 10:37

Managed to get all glasses washed and dried, spent a couple of mins trying to convince my 22 mth old dd to take her antibiotic (unsuccessfully, i must add). Right back to the kitchen!

cikecaka · 26/12/2008 11:03

rest of dishes done, cleaned worktops, sorted out next load of washing. Warmed up some soup for sick dd but she didnt feel like it then. Continue sweeping the kitchen floor. Back in 15mins

Laugs · 26/12/2008 11:16

God, can't believe that has taken me an hour!

Cleaned whole kitchen, swept kitchen and bathroom floors. Load of washing on.

Off to have a shower and clean bathroom while I'm there, then mop kitchen and bathroom floors.

slayerette · 26/12/2008 11:26

Can I add my list of what needs to be done before we go to FIL for New Year?

It's so therapeutic making lists and get sit all straight in my head!

Put away Xmas pressies
Dusting and polishing
Clean bathrooms
Change beds and towels
Hoover throughout
Empty airing cupboard
Odd bits of ironing left over from mad pre-Christmas ironing frenzy
Eat up leftover food
Xmas pressies for in-laws (exchange gifts at New Year)

Help!

cikecaka · 26/12/2008 11:44

Finished Kitchen, put kettle on, cleaned and swept the front hall, put new wash on and had cup of tea and slice of homemade pavlova. Need to start on sitting room, if you dont hear from me before tomorrow I am lost beneath the paper and cardboard!

chloemegjess · 26/12/2008 23:29

ARGH, got so much to do! Were out all day and evening yesterday and then the same today. I have just got back from my mums with my whole (7 seater) car FULL of presents, and still got to go to FILS on 28th and the on the 29th it is DDs birthday!! SO much stuff and so little space!

Visiting family again tomorrow but really need to get some stuff done. Tired and going to bed soon but going to quickly get at least 1-2 15min goes first while waiting for DH to finish up what he has been doing.

So annoying as we really want to have people round on 29th for DDs 1st birthday but the house is too much of a mess and we are with family every day until then! .

What we might have to do is use the spare room (which was overtaken by Xmas gifts) to just dump everything in untill after her birthday. And also probably need to use a lot of upstairs actually, but nobody needs to go up there as our bathroom is down stairs. and we have a door at the bottom of the stairs.

Anyway, off to do 15 mins in the back room, will hopefully be back on to report, depends on when DH decides he wants to go to bed.
