The best oven cleaner

Hello, hope this is the right place. Everytime I cook something in our oven it produces billowing smoke from "bits" at the bottom of the oven. Yes I know that's revolting and that's why in time for Christmas I am going to get on my hands and knees and give it a good scrub. The question is apart from elbow grease what is the best cleaning product for ovens? And no I don't mind if it is so toxic it makes baby deer weep as long as it cleans my oven.

You have to CLEAN ovens???!

You do if you've had a spill of food puppymonkey.

Oh and if you like making cakes and soufflés, it helps if the inside of the window is cleaned from time to time so you can see what is going on.

I've literally just finished cleaning ours, with washing up liquid and elbow grease, for the first time in years!

You only need to clean ovens if your microwave breaks

you paint it on, leave for a few hours and wipe off

do use the gloves or it takes you skin off!

highlr recomend OVENCLEAN. You will find no in phone book. Costs a bit of money but well worth it as oven looks like new.

Can't remember the name but it's the one with a bag, you put all the shelves etc in the bag with liquid and spread the rest of the goo over the ove wait for a bit and wipe it off.

Here it is, I got mine from Homebas when I was doing a big 'moving out of flat' clean.

The lakeland one....it's brilliant. Just wipes off!

ovenclean charge 35 pounds but only needed once or twice a year.

tis magic, apply a thick clear non smelly gel. leave it most of the day (my oven always overdue a clean) and simply wipe off with kitchen roll to reveal shiney brand new lookey likey oven. Told you it's magic. involving no mess, smell or elbow grease.

Definately use ovenpride. But just remember to make sure you have removed all the resideu of the rubbish cleaner you used before or otherwise even the cloths disentigrate

best thing i have found is fairy power spray no nasty smells afterwards either and its cheap

I agree, ovenpride is brilliantr although for the glass insert (if your oven has one) use bicarbonate of soda and non abrasive scourer and scrub like mad, i used cilit bang for a time and to my detriment one sunday realised this was highly dangerous!!!! i was stood next to the cooker whilst it had my roast pork in it cooking away and all of a sudden the glass exploded!! EVERYWHERE!!!! the husband wasn't happy his pork was sabotaged and i'm still picking glass out from the vent under the cooker, also found out from the manafacturer that it's cleaning chemicals theat weaken the glass, so be careful with what you use on the glass!!!

I have just discovered Oven Pride after 2 of my friends sang it's praises and it's fantastic! Plus it does all the work for you. I bought it in Asda during the week and it was in offer so even better. I used it on the barbecue yesterday and it looks like new - no joke!

I use stardrops on mine, infact I use it on just about everything now, sides floors cooker cupboards, just remember to only use a little. Star drops and white vinegar are the only cleaning product I am ever going to buy from now on. I was a lifesaver after having a house fire.

Cut down on oven cleaning, use a sheet of tinfoil to cover bottom and throw out when bitty/smelly/smoking. I can't even remember what I used to clean it last time, apart from water, it was so long ago.

Bottom of the oven is clean, sides a little dodgy, but tell me, how do I clean the top of my oven where the grill is attached ? I cant get in between the elements and to my shame it is absolutely disgusting to the extent someone will call the fire brigade one day. Instructions say beware of cleaners on grill elements but do you think Oven Pride would help ?
