Bedlinen: if you don't do the ubiquitous crisp white bedding look, what do you do?

Because I'm starting to find it all a bit dull.

Lovely bold Marimekko flower prints - 70s and cheerful.

nkf · 01/09/2008 22:12

It's all pale. Creamy walls, light coloured carpet. White bedlinen. It's inoffensive but I don't like it.

I can't shut out the cats. They spend more time on that bed than we do- an average of 18 hrs a day, lucky b*ggers.

NomDePlume · 01/09/2008 22:12

Walls are a v dark bitter chocolate colour, but room is big so can take it without looking like a dirty protest in a prison cell

Odd how something inoffensive can be unlikeable.

oh no just hang it out well

NomDePlume · 01/09/2008 22:15

Not in my bed. On my bed.

Arses schmarses, if I have to sleep with DH's nekkid ringpiece in it then I cope with that of 2 cats

verylapsedrunner · 01/09/2008 22:18

primrose yellow, never ironed!

expatinscotland · 01/09/2008 22:18

We use whatever castoffs my mother and aunt send us.

They have good taste and get bored quickly.

I have a penchant for Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. My mother's more a Pottery Barn type of person.

But my aunt's right up my street.

malfoy · 01/09/2008 22:29

The cats do NOT put their arses on our pillows but the children do. DH gets v upset when DD wees in our bed.

merrygoround · 01/09/2008 22:30

What about this?. With terracota walls and creamy curtains.

Pannacotta · 01/09/2008 22:38

All white here, only because its the easiest way to match things. Never really looks pristine with two ginger cats and two DSs of 3 and 1 in the house.
Tend to cover it up with silky bedcover which hides multitude of sins....

crokky · 01/09/2008 22:40

You get a duvet cover that is a nice colour (not too light, not too dark). Make sure it is tumble dryable.

Wash, tumble, stick on bed. No messing around, is quick and looks fine.

EyeballsintheSky · 01/09/2008 22:53

Next's best browns and creams here

llareggub · 01/09/2008 22:58

I have cream bedding, a few sets, all identical so I never lose pillow cases. I do have strawberry curtains, so not too dull.

NomDePlume · 01/09/2008 23:04

My curtains are in a bronzy Villa Nova fabric, design looks like peacock feathers (but not in peacock colours, IYSWIM).

Pannacotta · 01/09/2008 23:10

sounds good NDP, do you have details/link?
We have some gorgeous peacock feather wallpaper:

Anything like your fabric?

Blimey, does no-one else on here have periods (or loss after childbirth)? Ours are deep red or navy (as are the towels) so that they can't get stained.

GooseyLoosey · 02/09/2008 10:02

Crip white requires ironing, so out of the question for me. I do rumpled muddy/pale colours with darker sheets. Have a nice pale green duvet with leaves embroidered on it and a pale muddy blue one.

Umlellala · 02/09/2008 10:04

Ours is all different shades of blue and purple (we have bought some/some donated). But all sort of goes together somehow!

thewiltedrose · 02/09/2008 10:05

Black silk everything.
Mmmmm Im a sucker for my bed its may haven.

wontbepreggersagain · 02/09/2008 10:15
