/surveys tip of a house.

Have got tomorrow morning free to get the place looking more reasonable. I fear I maybe be severely lacking motivation. Anyone want to join me for a mutually supportive cleaning session tomorrow am?

Sweep living room floor

LucyJones · 22/06/2008 20:57

JARM - why not get dh/dp to do washing up now while you dry up
Get him to take rubbish out while you stick a load of washing on?!

micci25 · 22/06/2008 20:58

tonight; bleach at least one hopefully all kitchen cuboards, iron lots!!

tommorrow; carpet clean living room, loads of washing, hoover utility room, organise shoes at bottom of stairs, attempt to start organising main bedroom, shred at least half of the junk mail, iron more!!!

Collision · 22/06/2008 20:59

ooh ooh we did ours today!!!!!

DH and I put the timer on for 30 mins and blitzed the house! The boys 'did' their room (sort of) and DH vacuumed throughout.

Everywhere smells lovely and is tidy!

because we are both knackered!

Have been sorting the garden out ALL day today, digging, weeding and planting. As well as cutting the grass front and back.....and are really looking forward to settling down to Big Brother and a cuppa!

ready4anothercoffee · 22/06/2008 21:01

Me too!!!

Have decided to abandon toddlers to attemt the same, but need serious backside kicking or nowt gets done!

To do:

Wash nappies
Washing up
Scrub bathroom
Sweep & scrub floors downstairs
Take massive bag to the sally army bin
Put rubbish out
Clean kitchen counters properly [once I find them under all the crap]

Will add to the list as I find tasks!

LazyLinePainterJane · 22/06/2008 21:01

I did 80% of mine today (mother coming this week) and have the mess of a utility room to finish tomorrow. Am very pleased with myself, I even organised and cleaned the kitchen cupboards.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/06/2008 21:03

Goodness JARM and micci. You are making me feel exhausted before we start!

My list feels a bit minor in comparison.
Tidy
Hoover
Clean kitchen
Clean fish tank
Change bedding
2 lots of washing
Water baskets and sweetcorn.
Water neighbours several pots.
Rediscover dining table
contact drug awareness team about dumped sharps at local park at weekend.
shredding is good idea too - but not so much effort really - can shred and mn at same time

Well done collision and llpj -very impressive. If you've time you can be our motivational gurus!

Dior and ready4 - nice to have you on board

Ideally I would cut hedge and lawn too but I think that might be a tad unrealistic!!!

DanJARMouse · 22/06/2008 21:06

i need to have the house spotless by the weekend - MIL visit with SIL and neices.

It is DS's christening on sunday and everyone is coming back to ours for the party!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/06/2008 21:15

EEk.
Ok you def need a plan for the week then - have you one?

OP posts:
DanJARMouse · 22/06/2008 21:18

erm..... no!

Just do a big clean tomorrow and try and keep on top of it, but with 2 toddlers and a baby, i can see me doing another big clean on friday!

Collision · 22/06/2008 21:19

I need to have the house spotless again by next wednesday as my parents are coming for dinner.

eeeeeeeek!

My Mum never notices what is done, but always goes for the

'ooh your grass needs cutting'

'the kitchen floor needs a sweep'

'the fish tank needs cleaning'

and it makes me bluddy furious so this time DH and I are going to do our damnedest to make sure nothing is criticised! Tis a daft goal for us really. She will probably just criticise how we treat the children!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/06/2008 21:27

jarm - I found trick is to think about the bits toddlers can't reach and clean those first. Then work my way down to floor level!

Collision - can you respond with 'oh Mum you are a star for offering to help - when can you come round to give me a hand?'
or would that drive you batty?

Did it yesterday with a rather critical lady who was unhappy that we hadn't finished organising the tombola when our park coffee morning was due to start. Roped her into help, thanked her a couple of times while she was doing it and she actually turned out to be lovely!

Bot the same when its your parents though.

Thankfully, Dh did the lawn and tidies the garden this morning. I spent hours on the kitchen and find myself hovering over it like a hawk daring anyone to make a mess in it

I still have to clean and tidy the dump utility room, have one last vacuum and dust round, polish the patio doors and await the online delivery of food. Then find I have finished too early and sit like a lemon doing nothing.

micci25 · 22/06/2008 23:15

lol collision your mum sounds like mine
me "look at how clean i have got the oven mum"
her "your floor needs doing though doesnt it are you going to do that next?"

all my cuboards are done now but havent even started the ironing yet! think i may just do dp's work things and do the rest tomorrow!

im shocked at how much cleaning produce i own considering that i only ever actually use furniture polish, bleach and stardrops!!!

loveverona · 22/06/2008 23:36

WIth you all on this. Collision, my mum does this and it drives me INSANE! But she'll also say, "promise me (if you get that piece of work) that you'll get a cleaner", implying quite blatantly that I need one. Arrrgggh!!

micci25 · 23/06/2008 09:06

well so far i have only managed to hoover tghe living room (dd1 is being difficult again) and dd2 has thrown cereal all over it anyway! and i have found new things that i need to add to my list!!! so my new list is...
hoover again
clean living room carpet
clean yard
bake dps birthday cake
get recipe book back off mum
cook dp curry
organise shoes at bottom of stairs
clean woodwork etc on stairs
hoover stairs
quick tidy of bathroom (already been done just needs a wipe down)
start organising main bedroom
washing and ironing
shred junk mail.

not neccessarily in that order though!! right am off to make and drink more coffee get washing in!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/06/2008 09:13

micci! - when do you fit in your nervous breakdown?!

Ok - am having a coffee to collect myself. dd is safely at school having done her violin practice and played with her guinea pigs.

Have two loads of washing out on the line. Bedding is in the washing machine.
Have fed neighbours cat - twice! She is old and confused so she gets indulged.
Watered neighbours pots. But can't figure out their complex bird feeding system. They did tell me but I've forgotten.
Put dishes away.

10 mins MN now will shred at same time!

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/06/2008 09:29

Have till 12pm then and old school friend is coming round and I want to knock her off her feet with my amazingly well kept house and beautiful little dd. Have made lovely squash soup and put away all the washing so far.

Still need to:

mop floors
hang out washing
put the 'piles' of debris that have built up over wkend away
empty nappy bin. yuck. will do that first.

micci25 · 23/06/2008 09:42

lol bad kitten i go through phases of manic cleaning where everything seems dirty and germ ridden!! just about to go and do yard (esaiest job on the list)!! got washing in and put towels away! just need to find my mp3 player now, i cant clean without it!!!

oh and have been to shop for things for dps cake, waiting for him to go to work before i bake it!!

VictorianSqualor · 23/06/2008 09:52

I did my kitchen cupboards saturday and gutted the bathroom and am defrosting the freezer/washing the fridge today.
Plus have to do the usual washing/dusting/hoovering.
I just have to move the sleeping baby from my lap first
