tort is the stuff for the dump completely knackered? if not have you tried freecycl?
its hard when you dont drive, if ilived closer i'd dump it for you, i know how hard it is i only learnt to drive a couple of years ago, before that my neghbour was a bin man so use dto get his colleagues to vanish my stuff for me! was a big help

tortoise · 03/06/2008 14:23

Not sure what i have yet. Need to sort everywhere out to see what i can chuck etc. Have used freecycle before.

Need to go and pick DD'2 up now then DD1.
DS's at their Dads tonight.

intravenouscoffee · 03/06/2008 14:31

Okay, so decluttering not a great help. Don't panic about the 'don't know where to start' thing. Go back to babysteps and start with the kitchen. Just do a tiny bit every day and DON'T think 'it won't make a difference' or 'this isn't getting me anywhere'. The thing I really loved about fly when I first started was giving myself pemission to only do a little bit and then stop. I used to think that unless I could do the whole job then there wasn't any point starting so I hardly did anything and felt constantly miserable. When I started fly I would only do the step I was meant to be doing and then make myself feel proud of having done SOMETHING and it really did start to make a difference. Took ages but things have improved and I feel better. If you try to do it all at once you'll not manage it and then feel even worse.

Sorry, am rambling on.

Jas · 03/06/2008 14:38

Ah, but ic it is sensible rambling

Listen to her tort- she is right.Every bit will help.

Could you implement a "one in one out" rule, so something has to go to make space for new things, then at least it won't get worse.

Our bin collections go weekly in the summer due to maggot problems, so I take advantage to declutter then and put extra stuff in the wheely bin.

I'm hoping to do a car boot soon, and anything that doesn't sell is going straight to the charity shop! (No use for non car drivers, but I'm hoping it will help here. DP has promised to get rid of some of his tools.

I've done the coat rack and a tidy up in here.
The fish tank and compter table both urgetly need sorting out. If I mention it here, I'm hoping it will shame me into doing them tonight.

mummymusings · 03/06/2008 14:43

ive not fed my fish for 2 days and their tank is now magically clean! apparently good for when water is cloudy even after youve changed water and cleaned filter!

little by little is so right! when theres loads to do and its overwhelming i definitely feel like i cant face starting and i find even if i just clean the fire and put the dishes away my house looks cleaner and i feel better about doing more!

dont talk to me about chucking things away, i love it, chuck it chuck it is my motto, though must admit oh has rightly calmed me down and now i hide lots in the attic unless its knackered.

IVC The concentration store is just a box with things in to improve his concentration (slidy puzzles, bbagatelle, card games) It does have a positive effect.

Today we made a 'feelings' fridge magnet. 5 faces with an arrow to point to how he feels (sad, happy, confused, upset, ok

Ed seems a bit poorly He's tired, hot and has gone to bed (well our bed to watch over the hedge) So free time I suppose Hope it goes quick as he's appearing in a school assembly tomorrow.
