Morning Ladies

Hope you don't mind me starting the thread today.

Tuesday Mission

Aptly this is the mission I have decided to do today anyway ;)

OP posts:
mummymusings · 03/06/2008 11:49

im all rather new and shiny, except in rl where my oh would probably say rough around the edges!

Jas · 03/06/2008 11:53

DD2 woke up and appears to have lost her voi, too.

GO - You are a snail expert.....dd2, my neighbours ds and lots of others were collecting snails yesterday. I didn't see them and dd2 says she didn't touch themAssuming she is stretching the truth, could they be the cause of the sickness? (She sucks her thumb, andfriends ds nail bites, and he has also been ill)

Is buttery chicken better than Hobnobs, or are you just teasing Saga? Mummymusings - I've read your profile, and my dp is similar....only notices the things I've missed. I've learnt to ignore (or scream abuse, depending on my mood)

I now have the bedroom curtains in the wash, and floor clear, ready to mop and disinfect.
Then I will need to start on the rest of the house.Itis dd1s birthday on Friday, and she has friends coming after school. I don't think it will be nice enough to put themin the garden so I will need to have this place ready for them.

mummymusings · 03/06/2008 12:05

jas tell me about it! does anyone else get the "so what have you done today" and a roll call of all the jobs youve done is expected? i just say the babys been crying and difficult even when hes as good as gold i had his eldest daughter a coupla weeks ago on her bday while he was at work, entertained all 3 kids, cleaned house top to bottom (admittedly just in case the ex came round!) they spent all day destroying everything and he came home and told me how id done nothing all day, really why bother!? then i cant complain as he took us all to a suitably expensive restaurant that evening!
anyway, my diet starts when my exercise dvd arrives, ive chosen the Ultimate New York diet by David Kirsch, got the book waiting for DVD then ready to go, i need some results quick to get me on the path of righteousness! until then i am naturally clearing the cupboards of all junk by shovelling dowm my face as quick as i can, out of sight out of mind, obviously!

grouchyoscar · 03/06/2008 12:21

Jas I'm no snail expert. I do know if you feed them tomato or carrot when they poo red or orange they are purged and safe to eat . Chances are the lurgis have been caused by the environment and not the molluscs.

My mate told me that cosmetic companies are researching snail slime as an ingredient as it allows the snail to repair it's shell and body.

Hey, snail slime, because you're worth it

mummymusings · 03/06/2008 12:37

the thought of snails makes me want to vomit lots, theyre truly disgusting, my oh loves them, i must admit in this country i buy them frozen from the fishmonger covered in garlic butter, smells nice but eugh! and slugs and anything very small and crawly, get on a treat living in the countryside i do!

NotABanana · 03/06/2008 12:37

I need to be on here!

I can't get anything done.

Someone tell me what to do!!!!

sagacious · 03/06/2008 12:41

mmmm snail slime

EustaciaVye · 03/06/2008 12:42

In that case welcome mummymusings.

GO - LOL at snail make up.

NAB - I'm failing miserabley too. Mission today is to clear hotspots in dining room and hallway. How about a race? Back in 10?

mummymusings · 03/06/2008 12:47

lol snail dribble, love it.
1o'clock is hwork time. will do oven, have done the bathroom, yay!

grouchyoscar · 03/06/2008 12:47

If a snail gets stressed it froths, have you ever noticed that? Are the companies annoying snails to get the slime out?

I'm off to school now. Last time we covered old shoe boxes in wrapping paper to make a 'concentration store*. What will we do today I wonder?

scattyspice · 03/06/2008 12:50

Hi all.

Lots of poorly LOs on here today and lots of extra cleaning to be done .

Hi mummy and babies.

mummy and Jas my dh is the opposite, he doesn't see mess or understand the need for housework. He says 'what are you doing that for?' Which is kinda nice (except he never does any himself ).

This morning I went into school (with 5 other mums) to join in with DS reception class. It was hilarious . Especially PE .

Done:
wash sheets
wash up
BR

To do:
Pay blinds man
clean fridge
laundry
mirrors and doors
mission

intravenouscoffee · 03/06/2008 12:56

Grouchy - what is a concentration store? And will it help me to focus on actually DOING something? Haven't progressed along my list at all, but have had lunch (DD and myself) and had lots of fun playing 'leave the fireplace alone' and 'don't touch the X box' so it's not been a total failure

Welcome mummymusings. I love fly, even when I'm not being particularly good at it. Like the idea of doing 15 mins of work and then having a cup of tea... which is why I need a concentration store I think.

mummymusings · 03/06/2008 13:00

its great! thankyou for your very warm welcome all, i am off to do some housework, i shall let you know how i get on, i may even start on dinner, casserole, lazy ladys way to dinner, hurrah!

TheMadHouse · 03/06/2008 13:00

Afternoon All adn welcome MM

We had a lovley time at Toddlers and then came home and fed the boys, have dropped DS1 at preschool and DS2 is napping.

Need to pop on a wash - but will wait until DS1 back from school
Do Mission
Sort dinner - DH is going to chop all the onions for me - now that is love

I can not complain DH is great, really understanding. All to do with the 8 weeks he had off when DS1 was 5 months old and unwell and again when DS2 was a year old. He will tell anyone he has the easier job and that being a mum is bloody hard work.

GO I could prob harvest enough snails and definatly slugs for any cosmetic company.

Jas · 03/06/2008 13:15

NAB - Have you done anything yet??

I'm going to do hospots in here (dining room) too and report back at half past 1 I think

TMH - DP acknowledges that child care and housework combined is a hard job and admits he couldn't do it, but he doesn't notice the evryday stuff.

When we left him on his own on Thursday he'd decided to clean the kitchen - he'd scrubbbed the tops of all the cupboards and the walls. I admit they were disgusting, but he didn't wash up/sweep the floor, hang out the washing or do the bathroom he was supposed to be fitting and he still expected me to be pleased

I was blaming the day out on Saturday for dd2s illness....she touches everything, constantly, and then sucks her thumb, and we spent the day on underground trains and in the park all day.

EustaciaVye · 03/06/2008 13:16

I did my hallway. And then made a cup of tea

NotABanana · 03/06/2008 13:17

Not since I posted

have done all washing and idshwasher twice though, swept kitchen and tided some toys away.

Need to write some cards now and hubby will be home in 20 minutes so he will go off sick to bed.

DS2 is in bed poorly too.

tortoise · 03/06/2008 13:20

Hello.
Welcome mummymusings Bianca Hope DS is ok soon and you can catch up on some sleep tonight.
JAS Ewww! My worst nightmare! Hope DD1 is better soon. Doubt snail caused it. My DD2 was caught sucking one when she was little! She had yellow all round her mouth!
GO Hope change of med times helps.

I am very today! Man came to do gas service which was fine (except footprints he left on kitchen floor .
THEN another man turned up to do full maintenance check on house so he had to look in EVERY room. Upstairs is really really messy. In fact whole house is sh1t hole.
but i don't know how to sort it. Same old problem. No decent storage for anything, no where to put good storage and no money to buy any. i want to cry!!

dylsmum1998 · 03/06/2008 13:49

bleurgh at torts dd sucking snails - yuck

i've just attacked the shoe/coat cupboard it wasnt as bad as i thought only took 5 mins. i also found 2 empty storage boxes in there so have put all my uni books/folders in those, clearing up the bedroom hotspot
i totally sympathise with you and the no storage/money for storage. its like that here too. i hate anyone coming round.

we're watching beauty and th ebeast for the second time today so far. dd seems perfectly fine aftr this mronings vomit has been picking at food and playing. bit queiter than usual but nothing serious. so hoping it was just one of thosethings.

Tort for you. Know the feeling. Our last house was too small and just felt like I was constantly drowning in stuff. Really gets you down. Have you done a ruthless declutter? DH is still hasn't noticed things I got rid of last year on maternity leave during the 'Great Pre-Baby Purge of 2007'. Helped a bit.

Just having a cuppa (sadly no hobnobs) as have been fairly busy. List now looks like this:

Lunch dishes done
Mop kitchen floor done
Vac lounge done
Washing on done
Clean microwave done
S and S bathroom done
Mission done
Vac rest of downstairs
Dust downstairs done

Mission took ages. Things have been breeding in my hall. Coats mostly. And random toys, a glove and a curtain rail . All tidied, so I feel better. Will vac when DD wakes up again. She's shattered from crawling everwhere and not sleeping much last week.

intravenouscoffee · 03/06/2008 13:57

Ruby - no spare sleep here. In fact I'm in serious sleep debt. Somewhere out there is a student who's getting all of my sleep quota and wasting it away in post exam laziness. (of course I never did such things when I was a student)

And apologies to all working students like dylsmum. I don't mean you, obviously.

dylsmum1998 · 03/06/2008 14:04

lol if only i was resting in post exam laziness of all those that are

someone has made off with my sleep quota! although i am getting more than i've had in 2 years in the last 6 weeks!

mummymusings · 03/06/2008 14:06

so.
Hoover kitchen and living room - done cleaned out fireplace - done
refilled log basket - done
lunch made/washed up - done
thrown toys into one corner - done
washed sterilised all bottles - done
washing in machine - done
bathroom - done (earlier)
clean oven hobs - done
cleaned/changed baby who crapped everywhere - done and now sleeping, hurrah. Theres a certain satisfaction with a really crappy nappy, love it!

to do - negotiate world peace - can wait till later.

tortoise · 03/06/2008 14:11

IVC I try and de-clutter but then things end up in the cupboard for Ebaying. Then there is the problem of getting any other stiff to the dump etc.
And i don't know where to start.
