Took a carrier bag of unsold vinted bits to the charity shop on the way home- I don’t have the space to store it & it just sits in a bag for life on the bedroom floor annoying me. Listed 2 more coats on there )maybe only because a new puffer one I ordered for this year was delivered 🤣 I have way too many coats & reusable water bottles) & sold a small bag this evening so will post that tomorrow.
Found a dog walking bag which I no longer use so will wash that & list once it looks decent again.
found a brand new pair of the boys swim shorts that he clearly doesn’t like as they’ve never been worn. They are starting the new charity bag. I’d like to go through his winter hats etc so maybe at the weekend. Also going to go through the board games when I get a chance.
wrapped up all Xmas pressies bought so far & had to get rid of some old blankets/towels to hide them on top of the wardrobe. They will be going down to the vets to use as bedding.

Ordered 3 Christmas tops but I am still buying as a bigger person & they will drown me so I need to advertise them. Only Temu which won’t make a lot but hopefully someone will buy them.

This has reminded me to list my Xmas stuff too - soon it'll be to late...

My local charity shop won't take Shein (cause it doesn't sell) or Temu (the chemicals) but their racks are almost empty. I do wonder if charity shops are a dying breed. Hope not cause no idea where I'd take my stuff then!

I've been slowly decluttering a book a day. Started with the really thick textbooks so even though it's only 5 days so far, there's a small gap forming.

My local charity shop isn’t great to be honest. There’s a few about a mile away that I can drop stuff to which are a bit more “on it”

sold 3 items on Vinted
gave away a toy and some tattoos for the school Christmas fair lucky dip stall
gave away a pair of trainers

total outs 1141

BunnyLover7 · 06/11/2025 05:28

Sold the Harry Potter socks.

BunnyLover7 · 06/11/2025 05:35

Still some of DD’s stuff on the stairs which I have given up asking her to move! I think at least a quarter of it can be chucked. Might persuade DH to clear the loft. I’ve been meaning to get rid of some Christmas decorations for years but find it impossible as there’s such a strong emotional connection. Of course that’s exactly why decluttering can be so tough. It took me a long time to be able to put old cards, letters etc in the recycling.

IncessantNameChanger · 06/11/2025 10:25

It's definitely hard to do the emotional things. That's why I go for the low hanging fruit first. Then you build up your decluttering "muscle" and then adding in a few high emotion bits doesn't hurt so much.

Dh is off tomorrow to help clear a box room as we are having a bedroom reshuffle.

The school mum friend hasn't read my message on when to collect her bits so it's been a few days I'm going to donate as it's two bags for life. I just want them gone. Not sure where to tackle today

SydneyCarton · 06/11/2025 14:37

Another bag to the school textile bin today, this time a bunch of outgrown shoes and boots. I need to ask DD1 to finish going through the two shoe racks to see if there's any more which don't fit or she doesn't want - DD2 is reluctant to take any hand-me-downs Hmm. Also posted a Vinted parcel and gave some outgrown boys pants to the reception teachers for any accidents!

@BunnyLover7 I know what you mean about magazines - I had a Good Housekeeping subscription offer of 5 issues for £5 but I never got round to reading them and they just add to the clutter. I can access it digitally via my library app and it's much easier to pick up and put down the iPad or the phone and read a few pages at a time but there's something nice about sitting down with the print version (if you have the time!). It was the same when I subscribed to Private Eye, and that came every two weeks, I was swamped!

IndianSummer78 · 07/11/2025 17:54

Caught up on all the laundry today and was ruthless when putting it away.

Peg (broken)
Lipstick (broken)
2 x belts (broken)
4 x dresses (not my style)
2 x t-shirt (dunno 🤔 maybe not mine)
Blouse (unflattering)
3 x jumpers (1 too small, 2 too big)
Jeans (too small)
2 x cardigan (wrong colour)
Underwear (worn out)
Shorts (not my style)
Hoodie (not sure 🤔 but it was in the bag so 🤷)
Baby summer dress
Baby vest to go underneath

Total is 4113

IncessantNameChanger · 07/11/2025 19:15

Had a good bash at the box room today so lots yet to count but they will be going to the charity shop tomorrow.

I have a pile to sell on Vinted that are quite Christmasy. After that I don't think I have much left that is really worth trying to sell. I don't buy nice brands for dd any more. I don't buy her things in the sale to grow into either so no more nicer brands still new with tags on hanging around any more.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 07/11/2025 20:43

Today blitzed my conservatory. Got rid of 6 out of date doses of flea treatment for cat, two empty cat food boxes, empty box that had bulbs in, small jar, pair of very old jogging pants, teeshirt ditto, old ironing board cover. I make that 13, so 99 in total.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 07/11/2025 20:44

Ooh, have also asked the National Trust to send me digital versions of their handbook and magazines in future, so I'm making the handbook no. 100!

LR47 · 07/11/2025 20:57

sold a jumper which I’ll post tomorrow
cleared out and binned some broken toys

total outs 1143

Realfastfoodie · 07/11/2025 22:25

Well done everyone. Lots of good progress.

BunnyLover7 · 07/11/2025 23:28

I bought some bits today (a paperback & a cute Beefeater soft toy from the Hospice shop & The Snowman 30th Anniversary DVD from a lady who sells stuff online for a local MS centre) so I need to get rid of more!

BunnyLover7 · 08/11/2025 07:31

Popped an orange jumper that I’m very fond of in the charity bag as sadly it shrank in the tumble dryer.

Pigtailsandall · 08/11/2025 14:49

I'm on day 310 now (I think) and have a pile of textbooks ready to go to Ziffit. Some are fairly obscure but sometimes that's a good thing as they are hard to source. Tomorrow im stating on cookbooks/other non-fiction, though that's mainly DH's domain

CheesePlantFeet · 08/11/2025 18:03

Have brought some of my christmas stuff out of the loft. I'm trying to sort through it to see what I want to keep

Charity shop: candle holder, christmas decoration, candle
Bin / recycling: suction hook, lots of old garland and fake christmas greenery
Vinted: 2 wreaths

Total 1800

IndianSummer78 · 08/11/2025 18:28

Coat storage today.

3 x blazers
3 x jackets
1 x duster coat

Total is 4120

Can’t sleep so I’m mentally going through the house to see what else can go! The garage desperately needs clearing out. I keep toying with the idea of selling my bike as I never ride it but then I think I might one day. Not sure how much it would make but it’s in very good condition. We will see! Then there’s the hallway. I did have a big shoe blitz not so long ago but there are still several pairs, mainly mine & DD16’s, which are gradually covering the whole floor plus spilling out of the big wicker basket. Some of DD’s soft toys sent by her birth Mum are currently shoved down the side of one of our settees (not sure why!). Will probably put them in the loft, There’s also a heap of postage bags which I will put in DH’s office. Oh & we need to clear the side table in the lounge - always do it for the Christmas tree to sit on anyway so might as well get it done sooner. It mostly holds DH’s stuff so I’ll rope him in.
I have a silver heart shaped locket with what I think is a ruby on it. Pretty but I never wear it so that can be cleaned & put on FB Marketplace. I also have a lovely Past Times bracelet given to me when I left one of my jobs. That also needs a clean then can be advertised. Still in the original box.

BunnyLover7 · 09/11/2025 04:46

Also found an extremely tarnished amethyst ring & a small amber ring so I’ll clean them too.

IncessantNameChanger · 09/11/2025 12:32

I was super productive yesterday and sorted lots and it's gone to charity. Listed a few bits on Vinted and sold a few more too. I have a Little White company dress new with tags up for ages so resisted for £6 and it went straight away. I'm going to list Christmas clothes and donate the rest. I have a lovely new with tags dress from Geogre I can even sell for £2. Not sure if I want to keep dds summer bits to sell next summer? I don't think I do want to store it really just for £10 max.

I tried to be good and take the kids clothes to a kids charity shop that specialises in kids clothes. But they had shut a hour early so it went where they sell all kids clothes for 20-50p. In future I'm going to just continue to give it all to either Anglo doorstep collection or my FB town clothes bank ( they hand it by sizes for free)

Got some more bits to list on Vinted, to donate and some rags to sort as well. I won't hit my 2025 item out target this year it seems.

8th 19 charity (dd & ds clothes)
11 to rags (dd & ds clothes)
21 to rags - more sorted
24 to charity - more sorted
2 dd dresses sold on Vinted

Hello, I'd like to join you all please!
In desperate need of decluttering here, I have made attempts in the past but work and things always got in the way so never managed to do more than a few bags here and there to the charity shop.
I'm currently recovering from cancer treatment and have got a lot of time on my hands, some days I'm not very active or have energy and other days I have much more energy and am able to do a few bits to keep on top of things.
I live in a very average sized standard 3 bed terrace, but luckily/unluckily we have got at least 4 huge storage cupboards-im talking floor to ceiling-all filled to overflowing with stuff as well as usual storage in each room again filled with crap.
Every single room is messy and cluttered, every drawer, cupboard, unit is full. It's affecting my mental health hugely, and if anyone comes over I throw everything into my bedroom to make downstairs look presentable but I just want to live in a clutter free tidy, organised and manageable house for my own sanity!
Today I've done 3x loads of washing, and I'm going to declutter the fridge and if I still have energy after that I'm going to make a start on my pantry cupboard.
I think Ive got loads I could sell as well, so I'm going to keep anything I find along the way in the conservatory and start to list on Vinted or marketplace when I have a few things.
Any suggestions and help along the way would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome @Sundrops. Hoping you are recovering well & good luck on your decluttering journey! I find it very therapeutic. One tip is to do a little bit at a time & try have an aim for each day. Even in a smallish home, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed & distracted. I find this thread very helpful. And the more you do, the more you want to do. I just have to stop buying more stuff!! 😂

Sorry to derail but may I see the rings? 🤗
