Window cleaning frequency

How often do you get your windows cleaned?

The company I use has stopped trading. I used to just call up only 2x a year and ask them to come over.

Every company I contact now wants a monthly or 8 week subscription. To me this seems like too much?! Yes I want to have clean windows but it's a house not a high street shop 😂😂

Am I just being gross? Does everyone get windows cleaned every 8 weeks?

FYI we have a do sometimes do them ourselves. But we now have skylights and a new baby so this is just one thing I'm not going to be doing myself now! Barely able to wash my hair!

Thanks x

I get mine done once a month, and it's £6 a time for upstairs and downstairs of the outside of a three-bed detached house. I live on a singletrack lane, things get dusty, and I I'd need a ladder. I can't get up a ladder as I live alone and have nobody to hold it. £6 is a bargain as far as I'm concerned.

Pemba · 21/05/2025 17:12

Ours come every month. I would be happy with every 3 or 4 months to be honest, but they don't seem to do that.

Madmother63 · 21/05/2025 17:12

Every 8 weeks for us!

Doggymummar · 21/05/2025 17:12

Ours is every six weeks £23 a time

WonderingWanda · 21/05/2025 17:14

Mine are filthy but I do them once or twice a year myself, mainly because they are dreadful leaded windows and don't look any better when a professional does them.

Kalara · 21/05/2025 17:35

Ours offers monthly or every other month. It's only £12 so I'm happy with every other month.

He might take ad hoc, it's all extra money, but I think he'd charge a lot more for it.

OutandAboutMum1821 · 21/05/2025 17:41

Ours come roughly every 2 months and does the whole lot for £18. This feels about right. I then just do the insides as and when (certain rooms need this more often, eg bathroom).

RedFatball · 21/05/2025 17:41

Every other month for £17

mondaytosunday · 21/05/2025 17:53

Mine gets done about every other month which seems fine. I mean the insides should be done too but I never seem to get to it.

JDM625 · 21/05/2025 17:57

I've never paid someone to clean them, so have no idea. There was a very interesting thread recently about window cleaning and costs. Someone explained the difference between the ones that climb ladder vs using a long pole and water from their truck. 1 person explained how her husband meticulously checked the truck filters, the water, the foam etc etc! I shall link if I can find it.

ohyesherewego · 21/05/2025 20:52

Goodness mine is £35 every 8 weeks . Maybe I need to shop around..

Pemba · 21/05/2025 21:26

Well it might depend on how many windows you have etc? Also on the going rate on your area.

We have a 3 bed semi with 12 windows, a lot of them smallish, plus one set of patio doors. It's £18, they come every month.

SparrowFeet · 21/05/2025 22:17

Yes every month. I think they need it to be honest but I think I might have just got used to it. In our last house the window cleaner just used to show up whenever he needed a bit of spare cash so it was either every 3 months or every week.

Choppedcoriander · 21/05/2025 22:22

I do them myself or DH does once a year. It’s a huge amount of work and we can’t do them properly because we can’t reach, even with tall stepladders. It cost over £50 a time over 25 years ago. Four-bed terrace.

rosemarble · 21/05/2025 22:25

Every 6 weeks, £7 - small mid terrace.

Where do you live? We are in quite a well off area and I stopped having ours done about 15 years ago. It was £23 then, which I thought was a lot, and he insisted n coming every two weeks, and didn't do a great job. Some places have very inflated prices.

user1471505356 · 22/05/2025 07:59

Never.

McCartneyOnTheHeath · 22/05/2025 08:02

Lived in this house for two years, the windows have never been cleaned. We can still see out.

LightCameraBitchSmile · 22/05/2025 08:14

I’ve lived here for 8 years and never had it done!!

What's your environment like?
The dust from harvesting leaves our windows in a bit of a state!
I imagine people near a road would also get dirty windows.

DecayedStrumpet · 22/05/2025 08:24

Uh oh I think I'm winning here... £40 every 6 weeks (there was no other time choice)
SE and we have a conservatory

I'm not the best at housework so it's nice to have something that isn't grubby...gave up trying to find a cleaner as it was too much hassle

daffodilandtulip · 22/05/2025 08:27

Ours wanders in now and again when he feels like it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sesma · 22/05/2025 08:32

DH does ours with poles he bought from Amazon, he did them about a week ago and may do them twice more this year. I go round the downstairs if they look grubby in between. We live on a no through road so not much traffic.

Communitywebbing · 22/05/2025 14:09

35 pounds every 2 months. We have a lot of windows.

Chewbecca · 22/05/2025 14:14

Once a month for us. It's £20 but hasn't risen in 15 years, not quite sure how he manages that! It was expensive when it started but cheap now.
