Window cleaning frequency

How often do you get your windows cleaned?

The company I use has stopped trading. I used to just call up only 2x a year and ask them to come over.

Every company I contact now wants a monthly or 8 week subscription. To me this seems like too much?! Yes I want to have clean windows but it's a house not a high street shop 😂😂

Am I just being gross? Does everyone get windows cleaned every 8 weeks?

FYI we have a do sometimes do them ourselves. But we now have skylights and a new baby so this is just one thing I'm not going to be doing myself now! Barely able to wash my hair!

Thanks x

Ours is every six weeks £23 a time

Ours is almost exactly this. My husband used to do them himself in other houses but is 78 now and can't do them from inside on the top floors.

£35 every two months. 14 windows, front door, bifold doors and two sets of French doors. South east. We didn't used to get it done and it's lovely now to look through clean windows! They need it by the end of the two months. £210 per year, not cheap really but quite a bit of work. Would take me hours. He's very efficient and a nice man.

£8 a month here for outside, front and back. I would do without but DH wants them done.

Brienneoftarthismyhero · 23/05/2025 06:45

I have windows that you can open for cleaning from the inside. Sadly my window vac won’t fit through it but I just spray some glass cleaner and use a cloth. Not perfect as can’t always reach all areas. Last time I had my windows cleaned was when gutters were done and it left water marks. I love my window vac and so easy to clean the inside windows now

VivIsBlonde · 23/05/2025 07:50

9 windows 2 glass doors, once every 3 months and I pay £20!
This time of year they get covered in cobwebs

Sesma · 23/05/2025 09:31

DH will have to do ours again in the next week after doing them a week ago because there is a effing great warehouse fire a few miles away and lots of black smoke, he is already grumbling about it.

AlleycatMarie · 23/05/2025 10:42

Ours is £27 every month for a three story, 4 bed house. Tbh I would prefer less, but they only offer this and it’s too much faff to organise someone who would agree to come less, so we go with it.

JaneAustensCat · 23/05/2025 11:00

Blimey, amazed at these cheap prices. Zone 2 London is very very different! Several of us in my block of flats had ours done recently.

£50 for a 2 bedroom flat, about 12 windows each. And he probably did at least 6 flats on that one visit!

We usually get them done twice a year.

doodleschnoodle · 23/05/2025 11:04

Ours is every eight weeks or so I think. £15 a time for a four-bed detached.

BarnacleBeasley · 23/05/2025 11:34

Ours is once a month but it depends where you live - we're by the sea and they get all sticky in the salty air. If you're unlucky, you'll get some stormy weather the day after they've been and then they're filthy again.

Maybe the ad hoc nature of the previous company is why they're no longer trading though?

Pessismistic · 23/05/2025 21:50

I’m not surprised they stopped trading how can anyone live off twice a year if everyone did this there would be no point of window cleaners. They need regular work to survive unless it was 50 quid or something most people don’t charge much as it’s not a big job to do and if there using ladders they are taking risks.

I get mine done once a month, and it's £6 a time for upstairs and downstairs of the outside of a three-bed detached house. I live on a singletrack lane, things get dusty, and I I'd need a ladder. I can't get up a ladder as I live alone and have nobody to hold it. £6 is a bargain as far as I'm concerned.

Yes too cheap really

Wouldn't you be better paying a service charge as a building?

Bologneselove · 24/05/2025 14:49

My windows get done fortnightly. Costs £7 every visit to do my 2 bedroomed terrace. Monthly it was £9 so I decided on fortnightly as I live on a main road which causes dust everywhere.

1NeedPampering · 24/05/2025 14:55

I’m in South London. 5 bed house, get windows cleaned every 2 months £26 a time which I think isn’t bad. They also do things like clear gutters

Iloveeverycat · 24/05/2025 15:01

My double glazed windows are blown so you can't really see out of them anyway so you can't tell if they are clean or not.

MixedBananas · 22/05/2025 20:10

Omg that's gross!

Why? They're not gross. There's no germs on the window.
