Window cleaning frequency

How often do you get your windows cleaned?

The company I use has stopped trading. I used to just call up only 2x a year and ask them to come over.

Every company I contact now wants a monthly or 8 week subscription. To me this seems like too much?! Yes I want to have clean windows but it's a house not a high street shop 😂😂

Am I just being gross? Does everyone get windows cleaned every 8 weeks?

FYI we have a do sometimes do them ourselves. But we now have skylights and a new baby so this is just one thing I'm not going to be doing myself now! Barely able to wash my hair!

Thanks x

I get mine done once a month, and it's £6 a time for upstairs and downstairs of the outside of a three-bed detached house. I live on a singletrack lane, things get dusty, and I I'd need a ladder. I can't get up a ladder as I live alone and have nobody to hold it. £6 is a bargain as far as I'm concerned.

Wow that is cheap. Mines £9.50 a month for semi detached....he can't do upstairs side window either due to being too near sloped garden. X 😊

cacboi · 22/05/2025 17:48

It was really hard to find a window cleaner who would take on our house with 22 wooden framed Georgian windows (every window has 15 or 16 individual panes of glass) and we have a conservatory too. They come every 4 weeks (no other options available) and we have to pay £30 each time!

DefeatCareerRule · 22/05/2025 17:54

£25 every 12 weeks so about 3 months, outside of London

Worndownbyit · 22/05/2025 17:59

I live in a 4 bed semi in a very rural area so a bit dusty but not traffic/pollution dirty. I get ours done every 3 months and it's £35. I wouldn't have it done more often but if people are coming over I'll give the sills and outer door a wipe myself.

GiveDogBone · 22/05/2025 18:10

Mine get “cleaned” when it rains. Never had them done in 10 years.

PLHJ84 · 22/05/2025 18:14

Once a month (i feel it’s too much but some of the companies wanted every 2 weeks!) doesn’t need them doing that much especially now so it was that or buy a pole and have streaky windows. He is £10 but only collects every 3 months which is fine

croydon15 · 22/05/2025 18:17

Every 6 weeks £18

Picklechicken · 22/05/2025 18:20

Maybe once every few years. Really can’t be bothered with it. I do the downstairs ones myself from time to time if I notice they need it but the weather is so wet most of the time it seems a waste of money to have someone clean them just for them to look all crap again.

Fleur405 · 22/05/2025 18:21

Our window cleaner just randomly appears from time to time and we give him £20. He’s lovely but not sure what his system is!

Cakeandcheeseforever · 22/05/2025 18:27

I do mine myself with a kit from Amazon, a few times a year when I think they need it. Local companies were quoting £50 for something I can do myself

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 22/05/2025 18:37

Wow, saved myself a fortune. Dusty farm lane and I clean when they need doing, so varies from once a month to weekly. It's a bungalow and I have the proper wash liquid, and squeegee, so takes about 45 minutes to whizz around. I use Pink Stuff on the pvc.

£6!! God that's cheap. I restarted having a window cleaner last year- using my water. We agreed 3 monthly. £15. 1st time he wanted more as they hadn't been done. Fine. No issue with that. But he's so unreliable. I'd stopped having window cleaners back in 2018 when the cost had gone up to £30 every 2 months.

pilates · 22/05/2025 18:42

Every 6 weeks £28

Frequency · 22/05/2025 18:47

The outside of mine get cleaned when it rains. The insides get cleaned when the dog's nose art gets so bad that I don't have a clear view of him in the garden, and therefore am forced to stand outside in the rain to supervise him.

onedogatoddlerandababy · 22/05/2025 18:50

Mine comes every 10 weeks. £22 for all windows and doors. Wiltshire. I know pricing varies massively countrywide 😂

HorsesAreRunningOn3LegsTonight · 22/05/2025 19:10

Every 2 months , 4 bed detached , £15 .West Mids, Also done the old fashioned ladder and bucket way !

exaltedwombat · 22/05/2025 19:19

I’ve never had a window cleaner. Strangely enough, they DON’T get impossibly dirty, just a few water marks. Normally grubby suburban London street.

feelingbleh · 22/05/2025 19:24

I have mine done twice a year £50 inside and out and that's doors, sills, frames

JustMeAndTheFish · 22/05/2025 19:34

Mine are done every six weeks ish. It’s £16 for a three story Victorian end terrace.

MadeInYorkshire69 · 22/05/2025 19:38

I feel like I’m being ripped off now. Had a guy who gave up, he did the house for a tenner ( took about 15 mins ) asked for a quote from someone who came to the neighbour - he just said £35!! So I said no thanks. There’s no ladder involved even.

anon666 · 22/05/2025 19:42

I've actually never had them done. 😳 I figured it rains so much in the UK that nature cleans them.

It’s not changed in about eight years. Plus he’s a fire fighter doing it on his days off #eyecandy.

MixedBananas · 22/05/2025 20:09

My place is £8 for the entire house outside so we do it once a month. My parents is £28 for their house we live very different parts if the country so they have theirs done the least amount which is every 12 weeks with the company.
If it was £15 or less they would have it done monthly. But £28 is way too much especiaply as the Job only takes them 7-10mins max and I timed them.

Ours is every 6 weeks - £30
