Is there a scented candle out there that actually smells?

Ok, fed up with paying for scented candle after scented candle only to find they give off no radiating gorgeous aromas at all! I love how a smell can transform a space but I’m yet to find anything worth the bother. Looking for some recommendations please you lovely lot! X

Gold Moss - I’ve spent years trying to find candles that actually smell, these work.

Woodwick candles definitely do give off a good aroma and right down to the bottom of the glass. They are not cheap though, I search for end of range “flavours” with companies like this

Rickling Candle company. Gorgeous smelling.

CalypsoCuthbertson · 24/04/2025 20:56

White Company - I like their Flowers scent (rose, jasmine, neroli type mix) but they have lots of nice ones.

DaisyRae · 24/04/2025 20:56

St Evan Candle company are the best I've found. I love the Tranquility and Sea Salt scents

This Works
Miller Harris
Diptyque

I find all these three brands work. This works is probably the cheapest.

Ddimerq · 24/04/2025 20:58

Penhaligons
or cheaper - some (some!) of the sand and fog ones

TippledPink · 24/04/2025 20:59

Bath and body works smell lovely. Some Yankee candles are good too. I prefer reed diffusers from Next, new York luxe collection have a strong smell!

Mooselooseinmyhoose · 24/04/2025 21:01

I'd really recommend a small business called Wonky Candles. They are hand poured it's a business set up by a family with two adult children with learning disabilities to provide meaningful employment which supports their needs. Their candles smell amazing and last forever! And in buying you do a good thing for a good business! Win win.

Daylesford Bergamot. I’ve had a few Daylesford candles and they all give off a decent amount of scent that lasts but bergamot is my fave. Rose is also nice. Tomato Vine is my least fave!)

LittlePickleHead · 24/04/2025 21:03

I have a friend who makes these candles, DH bought me one for Christmas last year and I can confirm the scent is gorgeous and lasts all the way to the bottom!

Also got a Rose Oliver Bonas candle as a gift which gave off a good amount of scent and lasted a while.
Aldi did a brilliant dupe of the White Company xmas candle a few years ago, their normal candles aren’t particularly good though

Catnuzzle · 24/04/2025 21:09

I came to say Wonky Candles but someone beat me to it. Bought some as Xmas gifts, best candles I ever bought (they were gifts to myself 😅)

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 24/04/2025 21:30

Bath and body works via next is the only one that smells good

Wheech · 24/04/2025 21:35

Lily Flame are great. I'll second the recommendation for White Company too.

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 24/04/2025 21:36

Having loved candles for years, I was recently given a mini rechargeable room diffuser that I add water and oils to. I think it was £50. It so much better than any candle I’ve ever had including Jo Malone etc. It’s very cheap indeed as the oils last months and months and even the ones from white company are only £10. I’ve currently got a rose one on the go, and the diffuser is set at 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. It completely fills a large room.

B and M 😀 have some great 3 wick candles for a fiver, long burning. My Dad thought my vanilla scent was so nice that he bought one (which three years later is still unlit so who knows how he thought it might work for him)

St Eval? I came to say this. Lit the seasalt one only today, it's fab

DappledThings · 24/04/2025 22:35

I've never been able to smell a scented candle ever. I don't think there's a brand that will ever smell to me. I think some of just don't have the right gene for it. I never noticed a heightened sense of smell in pregnancy either so maybe smell just isn't something I'm strong at.

OP you might be the same before you go spending money on expensive candles thst still don't smell!

RaffleQueen · 24/04/2025 22:36

North Muse or Skandinavisk

Pianoaholic · 24/04/2025 22:40

Would also recommend st Eval. The scent really lasts and there is a really good range of scents.

No3392 · 24/04/2025 22:43

Sand and fog available TKMaxx. The best candles I've ever used, and I've tried most!

TheFairyCaravan · 24/04/2025 22:46

https://chapterorganics.com/products/the-tonic-luxury-natural-aromatherapy-candle Chapter Organics ones do. My favourites is the Tonic one.

I also love Daylesford Vine Tomato. It’s really good at getting rid of cooking smells and it reminds me of going into my dad’s greenhouse when I was a little girl.
