and just because you buy the stuff for spag bol doesn't mean that you have to have it on the Tuesday

cod right re extracurricular

have to have something nice in for Brownies night so that after the kids have had their baked beans at 6.30 and pissed off to bed I can eat something that isn't made of toast

Cappuccino · 23/04/2008 12:57

I could afford M&S ready meals for two nights

lentls and air the other 5

Nosnik · 23/04/2008 12:57

I menu plan just because if I don't I spend about 50 quid more!! I do rough plan on Saturday for following week, just of 6 main meals. Doesn't matter which day we have them on!! I'm not that rigid

Tutter · 23/04/2008 12:58

i just keep my eyes closed at checkout

and make a "blbllllbbbbblllllbblllll" noise when the cashier says the total

DrNortherner · 23/04/2008 12:58

Well yes I have lots of mince, and chick breasts and hundreds of tins of chopped toms and packets of basmati rice.

Then I run out of some random ingredient, like, eggs. Luckily I have a convenience store at the end of my street.

Nosnik · 23/04/2008 12:59

(one dinner is always a roast! )

Cappuccino · 23/04/2008 13:00

but I don't want to eat the same things every week I want to try new stuff; I don't want to make 7 meals out of tinned tomatoes and basmati rice

mil does this:

goes to shop to buy same stuff she gets every week 52 weeks a year

gets home

opens cookery books to plan exciting dinner for that evening

has none of ingredients

[stupid mil emoticon]

Twiglett · 23/04/2008 13:02

ponders dishes that can be made out of basmati rice and tomatoes

thinks of a chicken and chorizo style all in one .. yum

don't have chorizo .. sigh .. bog roll and dried chillis will do though

artichokes · 23/04/2008 13:03

How weird.
50% of our meals are based on basmati rice and tomatoes.
thought i was weird.

Cappuccino · 23/04/2008 13:03

I have chorizo

I have to

otherwise there would be divorce proceedings brought

DrNortherner · 23/04/2008 13:03

I need to overhaul my cooking repotoire

I need help.

Nosnik · 23/04/2008 13:03

The trick is to look at cookery book then meal plan!! Then write list!

Twiglett · 23/04/2008 13:04

for lunch I looked in fridge and we had a mixed salad with olives, capers, mozarella, bit of leftover chicken, honey and mustard dressing, new potatoes and green beans

Twiglett · 23/04/2008 13:05

I don't actually have basmati rice in house though (just american long grain with wild rice or wholemeal) ..need to go rice shopping methinks .. oh and noodle shopping

Cappuccino · 23/04/2008 13:06

yes nosnik

that is point of thread

Tutter · 23/04/2008 13:06

chorizo wonderful

i like it hot -- goes all oily and rich and oozy

good with pasta and pesto, black olives and feta

Monkeytrousers · 23/04/2008 13:06

dp is a fuckwit who fucks up plans for fun

Cappuccino · 23/04/2008 13:07

dh dare not make food

I come down and go 'the mushrooms were for the risotto'

Cappuccino · 23/04/2008 13:07

oiFoiF · 23/04/2008 13:10

Twiglett · 23/04/2008 13:10

capp, i have discovered a downside of my diet healthy eating plan

cmotdibbler · 23/04/2008 13:16

Recipe books on a weekday ? Now I remember why I'm a domestic slattern. We have about 20 different things that are the normal weekday cookery to be shoehorned in. Any adventurous cookery has to be done at the weekends.

Rice noodles are the staple of the slummy cook as only take 3 mins in boiling water. We always have a stockpile of those.

Cappuccino · 23/04/2008 13:17

tutter what is downside?

is it being STARVING?
