Hi all. Well not a bad day here today. The weather has been dire tho. Managed to walk the dog twice and got soaked, twice! Kids have been good so thats enabled me to clean up after them and get the washing up to date. Just got the ironing to tackle the pile of which grows no matter how much I try to keep it down!

Our electricity bill came thru last week. We pay by D/D. We've paid around the £39 mark for years. They decided we weren't paying enough (we only owed them £63 on the bill that came thru last week) so they put our D/D up to £79! I rang them and told them we couldn't afford that difference every month so they agreed to leave it as it was provided I pay the £63 balance, which I did. Unbelievable. We've not used any more electricity than normal so I've cut out the tumble drier which I know guzzles but its not easy with kids and the amount of washing they produce. I also follow the kids around the house turning lights off, tv off, radios off....I don't know if it makes much difference but it sure bugs me when they leave stuff on!

BiancaCastafiore · 19/04/2008 19:29

Those tunics Ruby recommended are both nice TMH

I have just given in and ordered dd some Mary Jane crocs for her birthday She had some last year and I have to admit they were great. She'll be dead chuffed, and I feel happier now we have got her something to open on her birthday

TheMadHouse · 19/04/2008 19:48

RR I like the first one, but it is quite expensive - I will add to my wish list and chat through it with DH.

Depending on the weather I have an OKish Grey dress - prety boring though, problem is that I wore my smart stuff to the boys christenings.

If it is nice weather I have 2 pairs in flat sandles I could wear one brown with blue and oorange and the other burgandy.

DontDreamItBeIt · 19/04/2008 20:38

How long ago were the boys christened TMH? I wouldn't recognise a friends outfit from six months ago unless it was very unusual. Can you change or accesorise what you already have, maybe?

I like the first of RRs linked ones best, too, but am fairly clueless when imagining what things will look like in rl

I wore some jeans this week that I have had since the dds were tiny, and two people (including dp who never comments on my clothes) told me they looked good, so they will be worn alot this summer I think

I've put my latest cake pic on my profilesmile]

Not done anything else really. All the basic FLYing and a bit of painting.

tortoise · 19/04/2008 21:35

Evening all.

Jas DD1 would love that cake for her Birthday! I made one last year a bit like it. Wasn't anywhere near that good though!

Not much gone on here today. Sorted a few bits in my room. Which reminds me, i have a bed covered in clothes! I had planned to put them away. Don't know what happened.
Oh well, there is always tomorrow!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 19/04/2008 21:47

Cake looks cool Jas

TMH - sorry a bit slow on what;s going on. You need an outfit?

Summarise:
Occasion
Casual/formal
Your Size
Your colouring
Your typical clothes - ie, modern, prints, black, etc.
Needed by when..

I'll pop in the morning if I get the chance and have a look for you. Have to go to a bday party at a soft play area with DD in the afternoon

DontDreamItBeIt · 20/04/2008 08:33

Cut and pasted for FGS.....
By TheMadHouse on Sat 19-Apr-08 17:54:41
Right - we are4 looking for a semi smart outfit for DS1 - something like in the picture I posted the other day.

He does not suit dark colours and I would prefer it not to be too trendy.

Well me - I am a 22 on top 18-20 bottom. Tend to wear trousers and flat shoes. Apple shaped large of breast (at least for now).

Baby Ls christening a week tomorrow - we will already have seen everyone at a party on the friday to which I will be wearing Jeans, green ballet flats and a nice green top.

The boys will be brown trousers and nice stripy bugendy shirts.

Do your best ladies

Morning all.
No plans at all for today, I'll have an easy day I think.

Tort - if you lived nearer me I'd make her one, but I don't think it would survive being posted

EHM · 20/04/2008 08:42

Just a quick hello to all the weather is pants again & I have the period from hell...phones ringing must be my mum.x.x.x.

TheMadHouse · 20/04/2008 08:49

Jas Wow that is so cool. Finlays christening was a year ago, but I also wore the same outfit to my brothers wedding the year before - he he he.

I am not really a smart person - I wore suits for work and hate them. I live in jeans and combats. I will keep looking.

Boys are up and dressed and porridge is cooling
TD is on
DW is emptied
DS1 is on the wii
I am still in Pjs

So will feed them and then get dressed and wake DH

DontDreamItBeIt · 20/04/2008 09:04

Sorry I can't help TMH. I also live in jeans, andcant remember the last time I bought an outfit for an occasionthat wasn't second hand.

How is our back EHM?

Dd1 and ds are eating porridge
w/m is emptied and washing is on airer
No one is dressed

DontDreamItBeIt · 20/04/2008 09:05

Your back

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/04/2008 09:17

TMH -

I cant remember how old your DS is. What about a little suit like this ? It is light, not too trendy. Or I really like this whole outfit

Do you ever wear dresses? A wrap dress would be good for you as you are big up top like me.

This is nice Might be too dark?

This maxi dress is l;ovely and you could wear with a cream cardigan.

I love this skirt. You could put it with this wrap top. It has sleeves so would cover shoulders.

I found these assuming you wanted a change from trousers/flats. If I'm way off the mark then let me know....

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/04/2008 09:20

You'd have totry the dresses on as they only go up to size 18. As you are different on top and bottom you're probably better with a skirt and top. The maxi skirts are really nice, especially if you're used to trousers as they cover your whole legs

BiancaCastafiore · 20/04/2008 09:43

Morning

I love that black and white skirt FGS, hope TMH does too

EHM hello

Jas cool cake I never get to make birthday cakes cos MiL is a prof cake maker so she always does them ( but all at once) dds party is a different day to her birthday this year so I might make one for tea on her birthday....depends how much we have left after the party...

Tort Don't forget to put those clothes away today

Well, dd has already gone out to a soft play place with a friend, and ds and dh are going to a car museum near here where Brum is kept

I'm going to sit and wallow in period hell and perhaps have a potter around tidying up a bit as I go. I also need to sew some name labels into a couple of new bits of school uniform and sort the PE bags etc. Back to school on Tuesday but I'll be working tomorrow so need to get organised.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/04/2008 10:21

Ignore the dresses TMH as they dont go up to size 22. Doh.

Another lovely skirt here.

Not sure if you would wear a top like this but it would look great with the skirt.

This cardigan is ace as it covers up bits but will go with loads of things.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/04/2008 10:21

DH and I are bickering which is I why I'm here

whispywhisp · 20/04/2008 10:52

FGS...what some good choices! I love that red skirt you picked out.

Hope everyone ok this morning. So far I've hoovered up the dog hairs our little dog kindly left in our lounge last night whilst she was chasing with the kids. All well and good having a dog but I wish I'd got one that went with the carpet....burgandy dog? She's white!

I've also cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. DH has taken DD1 swimming. I'm off out soon with DD2 to go and meet them at the sports centre and then walk home. A good 4 mile walk. Do us all good. My ironing pile is still growing so that needs to be tackled this afternoon whilst the casserole is cooking. Fun!?!

DontDreamItBeIt · 20/04/2008 11:24

Well ds is dressed.....and that is it

I like that outfit, FGS I'll have to get you chosing stuff for me when/if I ever go out.
I hope you and dh are happier and that is why you've not posted again for a bit.

TheMadHouse · 20/04/2008 12:57

Thanks FGS - Like the B&W not like me at all to go for monocrome, but v nice indeed.

I also like the red skirt, but swirly top not me.

Cari is noce too.

I think that me, DH and the boys will have to go on an outing next sat.

Worst comes to worst, I have a navy long skirt with some flare and a nice blue stripe tunic thing, that I got in paris or black trousers and black and flowry wrap blouse - see though so need to pop a cami on.

Boys are fed, DS2 is napping and others are watching DVD

grouchyoscar · 20/04/2008 13:23
