Have been asked to buy a “cool kettle and toaster” for a 20-something. Help

First home. Offered to buy something useful. Was asked for cool toaster and kettle. I am paralysed - I think I remember having views on these sorts of things in my 20s (nobody wanted an eternal beau granny kettle did they) but I’m not up with trends in kettle design now. Have looked and there is a vast range. Please post links of suggestions - assume money no object - obv it is but I’m just interested in aesthetics at the moment. Ta very much!

Def Dualit. We've had a toaster for about 25 years and recently one of its elements went. We were able to send it back to get it fixed. Young people love that kind of eco, non throwaway vibe

It's such a personal taste thing isn't it. Several people have suggested rose gold, but the youngsters in our family like either something long lasting like dualit, or a scandi minimalist design, and wouldn't have rose gold anything.

Our Dualit toaster was bought in 1988, and still going strong, although I have replaced all the elements twice. We have had multiple kettles over the same period.

Before we had a boiling water tap, we had a kitchenaid kettle, it was attractive in as much as a kettle can be. We have a smeg toaster, but it lives in a cupboard. Do people like matchy appliances nowadays? Seems old fashioned.

I agree, more than £25 on a kettle or a toaster? Even if someone could afford it, I'd think it was a waste. I'd wish they'd given me a gift card so I could buy so much more with the money!

This would be my choice and I'm 23. Its the Margate Poodle & Blonde range from Haden, It's gorgeous .. (BUT I Currently have the ASDA scandi range and it's very good quality and looks lovely)

Me too. Crazy prices for a simple appliance. I like the Morrisons toaster. Very nice.

My late 20's DIL picked this as their flat very stark and white and she likes colours. Has a matching kettle.

I think you need to know at the very least what colour she wants, I have a pistachio KitchenAid kettle but that colour wouldn't be everyones taste

The dualit toaster will last forever - they are built to last and you can buy spares for it. That makes it good value for money really. Buying something branded for the sake of the name? I agree, bonkers. But then my dad would turn a carrier bag inside out as he said he 'wasn't doing free advertising for anyone'

The £220 one? Mine was £15 and I've had it six years, no signs that it will break anytime soon. For £220 I'd want free repairs for my lifetime!

dualit are a great brand. Have just bought a kitchen aid retro kettle which is a bit gorgeous too.

Maybe I was unlucky, but my Smeg kettle broke after around 15 months. It was the most expensive kettle I have ever bought too.

While I love Italian style, their build quality is mostly garbage.

Something about the name 'Smeg' gives me the ick, if that makes sense. Puts me right off, especially round food...
