Morning folks

I cannot believe its the weekend already! Doesn't seem like a day or so since Easter weekend does it!

LynetteScavo · 29/03/2008 08:07

Please, what is FLY ?

kittywise · 29/03/2008 08:08

I've skulked round these threads for a long time. How do I keep a neat house with 6 young children?

Ludaloo · 29/03/2008 08:25

Look Here

FLY is a method of housework.
Its an American based site, that we all kind of follow on the FLY threads here.

Most of us don't follow it to the letter as it is a bit OTT for some of us.
It is all about breaking the mammoth task of keeping the house tidy into manageable chunks.

This thread is for encouragement/chat etc. really.
We put up the daily mission...should you choose to do it, and some of us post routines now and then.
Also we sometimes make lists of what needs doing...some find it helpful, some don't.

Come and try it out...you are very welcome

Kittywise you have my upmost respect...6 young children! I have 3 young ones and I certainly couldn't manage with more!

Maybe you could join us....If you check out the FLY site and have a look at Baby Steps...they are a brilliant way to get started and get a routine in place (believe me routines are life savers!)

Morning all. Hello Lynette and kitty. Here's a link to flylady site
Basically Fly is a way of keeping on top of the house work by doing a little bit every day, usually only about 15 mins. You start off doing baby steps for a month and just go from there. I've only been flying for about 6 weeks but it has made a major difference to how much the housework annoys me and posting on the fly thread here keeps me motivated. Everyone's very friendly and welcoming to newbies!
I was sold on the idea when I discovered all I had to do for the first couple of days was clean my kitchen sink and get dressed - even on my worst days I can manage to find time for that

intravenouscoffee · 29/03/2008 08:33

Ah, sorry Luda - X posts. Morning!

Ludaloo · 29/03/2008 08:34

Morning IC

OP posts:
DontDreamItBeIt · 29/03/2008 08:38

Morning

Thanks for the thread Luda, and the excellent explanation

Welcome Lynette and kittywise - FLY has really helped me get the house (sort of ) under control, and this is a great place for a chat
I agree tha routine is the way to go. I suspect that running life wih 6 children you must already have some kind of routine going....

We are off to the farm today to renew our season tickets before the price goes up next week. So far the sun is shining, so we might stay for lunch and make a day of it.
The dds don't care how cold it is...they love it, but I get cold and bored!

DontDreamItBeIt · 29/03/2008 08:39

x- posts IC - good morning

dylsmum1998 · 29/03/2008 08:41

TeaDr1nker · 29/03/2008 08:51

Have read the FLY website - do slippers count as shoes?

Ludaloo · 29/03/2008 08:55

LOL Teadrinker we all have issues with the dressed to shoes bit!

Slippers will do just fine. I'm in fluffy pink socks this morning!

This is what I mean about the FLY site...some of it is a bit OTT. I can see her point about the shoes...it helps with putting bins out etc.etc. but I don't think you need to follow it to the letter. Whatever suits you is the main thing

OP posts:
intravenouscoffee · 29/03/2008 09:00

Ah, but shoes empower your feet. Did laugh when I read that. Like Luda said you can't take it all too seriously, just use the bits that work!
Morning Dream, Dyls and Bianca.

DontDreamItBeIt · 29/03/2008 09:03

My slippers count as shoes....I got some with hard soles for christmas so I can do the bin thing and hang out washing in them
Which museum are you going to dylsmum? I've promised mine we wil go to one, too but i will be next week I think.

Ludaloo · 29/03/2008 09:03

Nooooo does it really say that! I like the bit where she says "Nothing says I love you like a clean toilet bowl"

Bewilderbeast · 29/03/2008 10:15

Congratulations on the sink Tea - you can now put your feet up and feel smug

Morning GO and Ruby. GO - I like the sound of DH's coffee!! Hope you manage to get a rest later.
Ruby Bad habits? Sky diving without a spare parachute? Wrestling wolves? Free climbing? I'm at a loss really....

Have decluttered the recipe books today. For some reason I have 40 even though I'm a fairly rubbish cook and only use about 5 of them so have had a cull while DD is napping. All in a box to go to the charity shop next week.

Other than that just the normal morning routine stuff and aking some Annabel Karmel mush for DD's lunch (sorry Annabel - meant tasty, well balanced vegetable mash)

Ambi · 29/03/2008 11:13

Good Morning flybabies, Morning routine is done, but must finish off baby's bottles. Got some FAB trainers off ebay this week, denim with flames down the side so am dressed to shoes, must admit it's really helped - after years of flying it's the one habit I've avoided.

Have a good weekend.

kittywise · 29/03/2008 12:47

I shall shuffle of and see if I can locate the bottom of the sink....................... I may be some some time..............
