So the last thread got filled up and I think I seem to have taken it on myself to start a new one every time, lol! I hope everyone finds us because I'm too lazy to tag everyone, but here's few who spring to mind. It also doesn't let me add some people, for some reason

Now it's the last push until the holidays to get it all out and done (before new cr*p comes in)

Wow @Pigtailsandall - 1994 really is close. I’m at 1945. I’m going to need to really push to get there I think!

A couple of bigger successes - a nice bookcase and a travel cot both sold! I’m keeping the cash from sales in a separate pot from now on, maybe it’s a holiday fund!!

tantdequestions · 04/12/2023 14:21

So today I've packed 3 packages ready for collection tomorrow (eBay).

Cleared out a kitchen cupboard - tbh feels like I need to do it again.

Listed 2 items on vinted (just realised they've already sold!).

I still have a room where all of this stuff is gathered until it leaves the house. Luckily that room isn't really used for anything other than storage but still bothers me that I have all this "mess" lurking.

My advice for ppl selling stuff on vinted - definitely sell what's "in season". It goes very quickly. I know that might mean hanging on to stuff but it's worth it as you'll get a better price too. I've got a tub of summer stuff now that I'm going to stick in the attic and then whatever doesn't fit next summer can get listed.

To the person who mentioned having no luck on eBay - get to vinted! Im getting better prices too. I used to use auction on all my items on eBay which meant things often went for ridiculously low prices!

My latest conundrum - I have a lot of hangers. I've listed them for free on a group and marketplace. No luck. Charity shop doesn't wAnt them. Apparently I can stick in recycling...It feels wasteful though!

LivingInaBuildingSite · 04/12/2023 15:15

My charity friend is always after hangers for the school uniform second hand shop. Offer up on your local free site on FB?

spare table got collected this morning. Haven’t decide how to best use its now free corner, there is a mirror waiting to be hung and spare bits of dog crate there atm.

have done the obligatory Christmas fluffy pjs shop, I think I could probably go through the DC pjs after Christmas and have a clear out of too small stuff.

And, in big news for me, I have finished my new job portfolio which I have to hand in tomorrow! So that will be out of the house yey.

tallsmallmum · 04/12/2023 18:19

out 2 pointless boxes I found with the Christmas decorations
in 2 big-impact outdoor decorations from Aldi
I don't really like any of the decorations and wish I could get rid of them all except children's favourite baubles and buy new but can't afford that, things weren't put away properly so no plugs etc so it's hard to even use the stuff I like
still waiting for the new olio-er
so we'll say aprox 15 bundles out

Calphurnia · 04/12/2023 18:53

All the 'things to be posted' that were hanging around the Hallway have now gone!
Sold an item on Facebook Marketplace, that's gone too!

radio silence from her 😶

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 04/12/2023 23:09

Guitar sold on marketplace.
4 items sold on eBay
Total 1552.

Was supposed to give away 10 heavy books on freecycle today but they cancelled at the last minute 😒

IndianSummer78 · 05/12/2023 01:06

Two bathroom corner suction cup trays gone into recycling. The metal was rusting, the suction cups were moulding and it blasted thing wouldn't stay on the wall without falling down every month or so. The things that were in them have fitted around the side of the bath until they're used up. Total is 1706

1990s · 05/12/2023 11:05

@tantdequestions you can take hangars to any Tesco that sells clothes now for recycling.

tantdequestions · 05/12/2023 12:46

@1990s isn't that just their hangers though?

tantdequestions · 05/12/2023 12:56

Ok for anyone using vinted - the buyer selects the postage method. If there are certain options that are inconvenient to you, then you can disable them! Profile/settings/postage and you'll find all options. Just realised this so goodbye Evri Parcelshop! I have none in walking distance and none with reliable parking. I'm sure everyone else already knew this....

@1990s isn't that just their hangers though?

That Twitter thread says they'll take any.

1990s · 05/12/2023 13:02

Nope, ignore me, I'm completely wrong!

tantdequestions · 05/12/2023 13:02

@1990s I did click the link and all I can view is the reply from Tesco!

Hi. Yes, stores that sell clothes will take our hangers back for recycling. Liz

I don't have twitter so might be why I can't see full thread.

tantdequestions · 05/12/2023 13:03

@1990s haha no worries I will find a home for my hangers!!!

1990s · 05/12/2023 13:10

I'm SURE I saw one of the supermarkets saying that they accept all hangers, which was why I was convinced it was Tesco.

Olio or Freecycle are quite good as other people usually want hangers.

stealthninjamum · 06/12/2023 08:04

I’m really annoyed with Evri. They were supposed to collect my latest box for webuybooks about two weeks ago and now haven’t turned up to collect it three times. Yet on Saturday I got an email saying they’d collected it. I contacted webuybooks on the app and they said to go back and reorder the collection/ print off a new sheet of paper etc or take it to the pickup point which is annoying as it’s a shop I never go to and no nearby parking.

Outs - I have sold a couple of toys on Facebook and also had about a dozen people say they want them and then ask if I’ll post them. I’m wondering if they’re all scammers, I’ve never had so many people do this before.

I haven’t had much time to do decluttering so hopefully this thread will keep me accountable. Today I’m intending to take a bag to the charity shop and start doing 15 minutes a day doing the hard stuff in the room of (no longer) doom.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 06/12/2023 09:41

Cleared out my coat pockets! Oh the rubbish that was in them...

Also thrown out 2 pairs of too small knickers.

Realfastfoodie · 06/12/2023 12:28

Bag to plastic recycling
Bag to charity shop

thats another 10 for December!

IndianSummer78 · 07/12/2023 00:06

A bobbly jumper and a pyjamas top with uncomfortable sleeves has gone today. Total is 1708

IndianSummer78 · 07/12/2023 20:31

The washing machine ate another jumper so that's gone making the total 1709

stealthninjamum · 07/12/2023 22:00

I did nothing on my list today as I realised I needed to write a few Xmas cards. I tend to keep them with Xmas decorations and they move about so I decided to delclutter the normal cards drawer to move the Xmas cards into it. I have found 13 thank you or birthday cards to go to the charity shop. I also found a bag to be chucked out and 4 very old notepads - one was from 2002. I spent far too long laughing at old to do lists and think I found Xmas present lists from the early 2000s and recipe ideas / meal plans for christmases 30 years ago. I’ve torn all the paper out and I’ll get through 3 of them quite quickly as I still write so many lists. One notepad was a nice one that had never been used so that’s in the charity shop pile.

Pigtailsandall · 08/12/2023 02:47

I found a broken plastic toy and a broken hairclip in my backpack. It all counts at this stage and we have plenty of both. Total is 1996.

pinknsparkly · 08/12/2023 03:24

@stealthninjamum - I'm not saying that none of the people who contacted you on Facebook are scammers, but are the toys you listed particularly unusual/hard to come by? I have genuinely bought a specific item of baby clothing on Facebook twice from different sellers and paid extra to cover the cost of them posting to me.

I've finally got round to listing some items on Vinted today to try it out. I'm very pleasantly surprised to have already sold three items, and I've posted one of them. I'm only counting them as decluttered once actually posted though! I listed them all at a little more than Vinted recommended to allow for reductions and have been surprised at how much they went for (one sold at list price, on the other two I accepted offers that still came to more than the Vinted recommended price). I just can't be bothered packaging up and posting items for £1. I'd rather give them away for free on my local very active Facebook group. I'll list my maternity clothes next.

Running total 208. I'm not sure what my aim for 2023 is, perhaps 223?

BCBird · 08/12/2023 05:28

Got 18m before I want to put house on market. Promise myself faithfully to get rid of 10 items this weekend. Need a kick🙄
