Decluttering Thread 6 - hit those targets before New Year!

So the last thread got filled up and I think I seem to have taken it on myself to start a new one every time, lol! I hope everyone finds us because I'm too lazy to tag everyone, but here's few who spring to mind. It also doesn't let me add some people, for some reason

Now it's the last push until the holidays to get it all out and done (before new cr*p comes in)

3 children out and struggling with fatigue so I've just done quite a bit of cleaning and tidying so no real outs except rubbish and recycling. washed a few outgrown things to go and got 3 library books ready to go

Thanks for the Toss app recommendation. I think I’m going to join you with that? Is it the same tip for everyone each day? I have spices clear out to do today. I really like this approach of something small each day.

Is the TOMM app similar?

OMG I like the toss app! That’s 4 items from the spices plus 2 plastic Xmas decorations that didn’t owe anything to anyone.

i just wish it would let you record your own things in addition to the challenge so it would do all the counting for me!

I've cleared out under the stairs today, so many bags for life but they do get used and sometimes left places so I've put them away in the conservatory. Good amount of rubbish out but also:

A blender
A steam cleaner I've never used
2 body lotions
3 face care products that don't agree with me
A backpack
An old soap and glory carry case that has gone mouldy

I can now start moving the tools from the garage into their new home under the stairs.

I realise my post sounded like 3 children out gone declutterred lol! 🙊 I just meant out with grandparents so I cleaned lol

Haha @tallsmallmum sometimes I wish I could temporarily declutter my kid!

Two small outs today - sample-sized deodorant used up, and an expired packet of diarrhoea meds (which we luckily never needed)

Total is 2020 for the year.

RealFastFoodie I'm on a clothing no-buy thread in style & beauty. I think there may be others in cost of living, definitely saw a no-buy one for 2023

That’s loads @LivingDeadGirlUK, well done! @tallsmallmum - I’m also totally knackered, to be honest I think finding our house again under the Christmas stuff is just as important as any “outs”.

Today’s TOSS challenge isn’t totally applicable as I think we’ve done it fairly recently, but maybe there’ll be something.

OUT grey cargo trousers that are really cheap quality never worn

• 1 parcel returned and 1 chased up it'll be almost a surprise when it comes

Today I've sold a jumpsuit and unused oil cleanser on Vinted. I've also sorted the medicin draw and chucked out some out of date medicine, old plasters that have come out the packet, and taken an inventory of what we do have.

I've also finally given a Christmas present to a friend which I was meant to send 2 years ago...

Next charity bag started with one outgrown pair of kids trousers, a pair of kids smart shoes unearthed at the back of a wardrobe, one magic set from the same wardrobe and two rather babyish money boxes from the same wardrobe 🤣🤣 I did in fact feel rather like a magician! There are also some books and a DVD or three to add.

10 things out (binned) from my medicines/first aid etc supplies. Not too bad for a day with no spare time and two fussy kids getting over Covid.

I’m currently trying to work out if I could/should resist the sales. Having a smaller stash of kids clothes is good but I do like frugi, jojo and similar and the sales are always good… 🤦‍♀️ I’m not a big shopper at all, and hardly ever go shopping in person thank goodness.

A couple of more things yesterday and today despite feeling pretty sick still :

-2 packets of present chocolates will go with DS to his halls I didn’t like / need
-1 pair DS small sweatpants
-1 pair DD small sweatpants both earmarked to go off circulation
-1 my finished gift books
-1 new board game we tried out that turned out to be too slow and boring to charity
-1 DH stained pyjama top
-1 packet of ready made gingerbread dough from freezer that turned out to be no good when we tried the first packet although my Covid has effected my taste buds I still don’t taste things normally , others say it’s no good
-1 pair of DD worn out small trainers earmarked to go

One more catalogue gone and one tub of face cream finished up (about 35 left!). Total is 1783

Hot chocolate bowl has been thrown away - it has a crack all down it so don’t really fancy using it!

took Christmas recycling to the dump on Thursday

actually twitching to get Christmas tree out of the house…..

also had a good neutral of USB/iPhone cable that actually works so I can use my mobile charger now.
about piggy banks- DSis has her childhood one in her house which looks great to me, think I'll take mine back next time
we didn't grow up in a way that we had multiples of gifts like my children tho so it was easier for my parents

Out today, an oil thingy which was given to me at the start of December. It's kind of ayurvedic medicated beauty oil which I just know I'll never use, so I gave it away before it lingered too long.
Also out a kids' phonics exercise book, filled up and used up.

Total is 2022. Gotta find one more thing tomorrow!!

I've chucked away a load of paper thats not needed anymore along with a maths workbook that has been completed.
