What is your oven cleaning routine?

I'm trying to keep my oven cleaner. It used to be a once a year job with loads of oven pride.

I'm m trying to do it every 8 weeks now as doing TOMM, it still takes forever and without oven pride it isn't properly clean.

I know ideally it should be wiped after each use, but I find that once I've cooked a roast, the door is splattered and won't come off without scrubbing. I'm just not prepared to scrub the oven every single week.

I already use oven liners and gave self cleaning sides. Is there any other way to make it a bit easier?

I chuck some oven cleaner spray on it when it starts to smoke and I regret my life choices.

DH was crouching down and scrubbing the inside of the door with a dishwasher tablet the other day I asked him what he was doing and he said he saw it on tiktok.

It looks exactly the same as before he scrubbed it BTW.

Mine was similar. Think I will clean the oven on Friday, buy oven cleaner and then sit on my arse watching TV.

OP, your misunderstanding TOMM. You’re supposed to do 30 mins or so on deep cleaning your kitchen every 8 weeks. That includes decluttering, cleaning inside cupboards. It doesn’t mean you should clean your oven every 8 weeks but some thing you should do in some of those Friday sessions but not every time it’s Friday focus kitchen.

Um, I get someone in about once every 10 years 😂If I haven't moved house in the meantime that is. So many other more important things to worry about, and it's all been cooked so no germs lurking. I did hoover some crumbs out of it the other day.

Silicon liner on oven floor. Shelves in dishwasher when necessary - probably once a month or when something is spilt on them. Door every few weeks - it's a school holiday job. I make a lot of bread and bake a lot, but I don't cook meat or cook a lot in the oven that makes a mess.

I do have a pizza steel on one shelf that needs a scrape and wipe every few uses.

Im not sure I even understand the concept, although I am aware that many years ago our cleaner used to do it every week!

I clean the oven every Sunday, just a blue cloth and water, sometimes when something has spilt and cooked on I break out the Brillo Pad.

Oven clean man twice a year - well worth the money,

when DH comes in and says hopefully ‘are we having bacon’ and the oven doesn’t have anything in it yet…

I find it interesting those who say we are veggie so it doesn’t get dirty. Roast potatoes are the worst culprit I find!

I know that you don't have to clean it every 8 weeks for TOMM, but it really needs it.

I'm thinking now of getting an oven cleaning man in next time and starting from scratch.

Haven't tried roasting bags, are they just for neat or roast potatoes? I find the roast potatoes make a mess too.

I've only used them for the meat, not sure about roasties. I'm hopeless with them so mostly.just do mash!
