What is your oven cleaning routine?

I'm trying to keep my oven cleaner. It used to be a once a year job with loads of oven pride.

I'm m trying to do it every 8 weeks now as doing TOMM, it still takes forever and without oven pride it isn't properly clean.

I know ideally it should be wiped after each use, but I find that once I've cooked a roast, the door is splattered and won't come off without scrubbing. I'm just not prepared to scrub the oven every single week.

I already use oven liners and gave self cleaning sides. Is there any other way to make it a bit easier?

I would love to say I had one, but the extent of my oven cleaning was to give it a mad scrub when the element went and I needed someone to come and fix it, and was embarrassed by the state of it 😳

Pay professional oven cleaner to do it.

Money well spent.

pilates · 10/03/2023 18:20

Oven Clean once a year.

It comes up brand new.

Babymamamama · 10/03/2023 18:20

Honestly? I pay twice a year ish to have it professionally cleaned. I don’t have a cleaner and do everything else round the house myself (due to circumstances mainly) but having the oven brought back to shiny new by someone else is priceless.

ChilliBandit · 10/03/2023 18:21

Call oven cleaning man, hand over cash, marvel at clean oven.

RedDirtWildChild · 10/03/2023 18:22

My routine is to call the oven cleaning company twice a year to clean them. 😬

WinterMusings · 10/03/2023 18:25

call the nice man with specialty equipment.

pawz · 10/03/2023 18:30

Twice a year professional clean as per PP!

I clean it myself approx once a week (hob gets wiped after every use) but the professional takes the glass apart and gets into all the nooks and crannies so well!

carriedout · 10/03/2023 18:32

Sorry, what?

We are vegetarian and do not cook in the oven that much, my 'routine' is to ignore it and then I use bicarb/vinegar if it needs a spruce up.

No way would I waste my life doing it every 8 weeks!

Charlotte0507 · 10/03/2023 18:33

I use a dishwasher tablet, wet it and use it like you would a sponge.

CorvusPurpureus · 10/03/2023 18:33

I generally just move house 💁‍♀️

BIWI · 10/03/2023 18:37

Yep, I pay for someone to come and clean the ovens once a year. Money very well spent.

I haven't thought about this but what a good idea.

LaMarschallin · 10/03/2023 18:53

How much are these oven cleaning people (hope it's not rude to ask)?
I've looked some up locally and the adverts are very coy about money.

ChilliBandit · 10/03/2023 18:54

@LaMarschallin - mine is £80 for a single oven including grill pan. SE England

fortheloveofflowers · 10/03/2023 18:54

I pay someone. Ends up looking brand new!

ozymandiusking · 10/03/2023 18:54

I have the man from OVENU once a year to clean ours. I have absolutely no intention of cleaning mine. He does an excellent job.

DisforDarkChocolate · 10/03/2023 18:55

Mine is 'husband the oven needs cleaning', I clean the shelves though because it's really satisfying. We do have a liner now, definitely a good idea.

Minieggbrownies · 10/03/2023 19:02

Does the door not get splattered in between if the man comes once a year?

We have a roast every week which inevitably makes a mess. It didn't used to bother me but it does now.

It's such a thankless job because no sooner you clean it it's dirty again but maybe I just need to go back to my old ways.

£40 for a single oven professional clean and worth every penny imo

Babymamamama · 10/03/2023 19:03

For professional cleaning …..It’s gone up massively round my way used to be under fifty quid for a standard oven excluding hob but now I think is £75 ish. But it’s a luxury worth paying IMO.

I do this one the door it takes forever though. The racks don't come up like new without oven pride.

Then as soon as you clean it it's dirty again.

I guess that's just the way it goes.
