How many glasses do you have?

Orcubed · 28/01/2023 08:33

Watched the Nick Knowles programme. They had 544 glasses. We have a LOT of glasses (but not that many!)
Everyday glasses (pint and small)
wine (red and white, big and small) champagne, beer, gin, cocktail, brandy, sherry glasses…
I do really like having the ‘right’ glass 😳

About 30, they all fit in one cupboard

BrieAndChilli · 28/01/2023 14:29

Loads

we have small and big tumblers for everyday then we have more delicate tumblers for Christmas etc, various wine glasses, champagne flutes, cocktail glasses of various shapes, gin goblets, beer classes etc.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/01/2023 14:44

(Family of four)

Recycled green glass tumblers and taller glasses , all the "barrel" shape (four of each)
Shorter clear tumblers (six)
Fancy beer glass types (four)

Random whisky and beer glasses (DH)

My mind boggles at 544 Shock

Technically 8 glasses 😂 if you don’t count the miniature one that came with a mini baileys gift set..

DP’s like to keep novelty mugs so they’re banished to the top shelf and it still makes me sad to see them when I open the cupboard 😂

My mother bought me the Next Amelia glasses for Christmas... 4 each of wine, tumbler, highball and champagne

9yo has decided the wine glasses are great goblets

AliceMcK · 28/01/2023 14:59

6 mismatched pint glasses
2 wine goblets
2 Christmas themed wine glasses
1 random odd glass I brought home drunk from a working mens club
1 Singapore sling glass I bought at The Raffles Hotel years ago
some shot glasses, more novelty don’t think they have ever been used
3 Christmas tumblers

6 Crystal wine glasses given as a wedding present still in the box never been used. I think they are in the attic with a box of champagne flutes someone gave us from a charity shop.
4 crystal whiskey glasses also unboxed in the attic

I bought 6 champagne glasses from Asda and 4 wine glasses this Christmas when we had people over, they have been boxed back up and put outside in a storage cupboard.

I think you DO need them. What else would you use for summer cocktails?

gingergingerginger · 28/01/2023 15:07

Now that my DS has gone to university we have too many glasses to fit in the cupboard. Previously we accounted for the fact that he always had circa half a dozen in his room by simply buying more.

Your glass/ mug cupboard is so organised. All of ours just get thrown in amongst each other and stacked.

I'm off to tidy my cup cupboard😂

Margo34 · 28/01/2023 15:15

3 'every day' wine glasses
6 'nice' wine glasses
2 cheap champagne flutes
4 posh champagne flutes (engagement pressie)
4 copa/gin glasses (wedding gift)
3 freebie Copa/gin glasses
4 coupe cocktail glasses
6 small sherry glasses
4 or 5 beer glasses - random selection, shapes and sizes
5 large IKEA tumblers
1 coca-cola glass
4 plastic pint glasses (from cricket, never returned for the £1 deposit)
3 small plastic fever tree glasses (never returned for the £1 deposit).

Which do we use the most? The plastic ones and the everyday wine glasses 😂

Muddydogpawprints · 28/01/2023 15:18

About 5 everyday glasses, 5 wine glasses (1 got broken!) And 2 champagne flutes. 2 or 3 plastic toddler cups.

AuntieMarys · 28/01/2023 15:23

12 white wine
6 red wine
12 champagne flutes
6 shot glasses
8 gin glasses
About 20 different tumblers

Friendofdennis · 28/01/2023 15:29

5 all mismatched due to breakages

Galadriel90 · 28/01/2023 15:34

Probably about 30.
Champagne flutes x6
Wine glasses x6
Lagerx4
6 beautiful etched liquer glasses I spotted in an antique shop for a fiver.

One long gin glass and one GIN balloon glass from DS2 with a bottle of Gin each time. He works for a pub chain and gets invited to things and sometimes there is a freebie which he kindly gives to his mum!
Best friend bought me some Irish Coffee glass mugs when we went through a stage of having one before parting years ago. I had one on Burn's Night.

Some random one off ones from Hard rock cafes around the world. Mostly DDs and one is mine.

PLUS
My dad's beautiful Edinburgh Crystal glasses. Almost a full set 8 of each - red wine, white wine, sherry, liqueur glasses, port and whisky. DH is not allowed to touch them as he broke one drying it up after I told him not to wash and dry them. One of the rare times he has ever apologised for anything! They live in my glass fronted dresser shelving. They look beautiful when I carefully wash them all and sparkle. My dad travelled them all over the world carefully packing them each time.I was allowed to use one on my 16th birthday. They are worth about £50 each so only I am allowed to use them now. Best friend is allowed but declined last time.

AllLopsided · 28/01/2023 15:56

Too many useless ones and very few that hold enough water to see me through the night!

@MickeyMouseShithouse I like your mugs (the matching ones Grin)

mathanxiety · 28/01/2023 16:04

Six wine glasses with stems.
Four pint glasses.
Four juice / highball glasses
Four 12 Oz glasses
Four 4 Oz glasses
Six 8 Oz glasses/ stemless wine glasses that are stackable
Sundry others - about six.

LynneBenfield · 28/01/2023 16:06

Too many. My husband has a problem Hmm

watchfulwishes · 28/01/2023 16:07

Eight. Four clear and four coloured tumblers.
We went on a minimalism mission about ten years ago, never looked back.

There are more than eight glasses in that picture?

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 28/01/2023 16:08

I've probably got about eight glasses, so not many at all - now mugs - they're a different matter.

Dizzydebbie88 · 28/01/2023 16:10

Two pairs - one for distance, one for reading.

(Misses point of thread) 😃
