Where do you keep laundry baskets?

Random one, but where does everyone keep their laundry baskets (the ones for dirty washing)
We all have one in our bedrooms at the moment, but thinking about it I've never seen them in anyone else's homes.
Is there a hack I'm missing?!

We have a small basket (open) just outside our bedroom on the landing - the idea is it is a temporary holding place until someone goes downstairs.
DS has a larger one in his bedroom.
Both of these are then emptied into four large mash laundry bags - whites, darks, lights, brights which are hung (when too full to hang this is a sign a load needs to go on) in the under-stairs cupboard (also have a wall basket for cleaning cloths/tea towels in the utility room - no room for the other ones there).

Just one and it’s on the upstairs landing. I find that it keeps us honest by having to do the washing regularly because the laundry basket isn’t very big for the whole family.

Goldfishmountainclimber · 26/11/2022 20:31

Does anyone have suggestions of a good looking laundry basket? Because it is on the landing, I often think we could upgrade to something more stylish.

Crazymadchickenlady · 26/11/2022 20:37

We just have a natural wicker one with a lid.

Passthecake30 · 26/11/2022 20:40

On the landing. It stopped being in my bedroom after one of the dc put some pooey undies in it😷

AtomicRitual · 26/11/2022 20:45

Ours is in the bedroom but about a year after we moved in I realised that the recess under the sink in the en suite must have been designed to house a washing basket!

Ours didn't fit though so it now holds a basket of cleaning products instead.

Ragwort · 26/11/2022 20:47

One on the landing, my personal one in my en suite (which DH doesn't use Grin) & when he's home DS just leaves his laundry all over his bedroom floor .... Angry.

Lozza70 · 26/11/2022 20:51

On the landing and we use one of these.

HowCanIPayItForward · 26/11/2022 21:25

Corner of landing. All in one place and stops it piling up too much.

RoseMartha · 26/11/2022 21:39

Main one in the bathroom but in an effort to combat mess in my teenagers room, they now have one in there too. It has helped with the mess issue in their room.

TrashPanda · 26/11/2022 21:46

We have 3 of the Skubb ones from IKEA in the cupboard off the kitchen for family washing and a Fyllen one in our bedroom for DPs work stuff which gets washed separately to other clothes. We're in a flat so no upstairs or landing.

DeeofDenmark · 25/11/2022 16:56

We have them on the landing so everyone can throw stuff in and I can do a wash without going into each bedroom.

Same!

janglealltheway · 26/11/2022 21:50

In the airing cupboard. One for darks, one for lights.

howmanybicycles · 26/11/2022 22:32

In the bedrooms. Neither the bathroom nor the landing are big enough to have one in/ on.

Palmface · 26/11/2022 22:47

We have one in our bedroom, and one in the family bathroom for the kids. I would prefer ours to be in the ensuite as that's where I need it, but dh constantly moves it back into the bedroom (then complains that my dirty clothes pile up in the bathroom..)

Margo34 · 26/11/2022 22:50

In the utility which is upstairs next to the bathroom and is essentially a broom cupboard. It was in the bathroom until we needed to put nappy change stuff there so the laundry got relocated.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 26/11/2022 22:54

On the landing.

Germolenequeen · 26/11/2022 23:21

Bathroom... don't like the idea of dirty washing in the bedroom but I have OCD so 🤦‍♀️

Spectre8 · 26/11/2022 23:29

In my dressing room

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 27/11/2022 03:32

In the airing cupboard

Bad idea, you'll get warm pongy air in there which then makes the items airing in there less than fresh, too.

lovelilies · 27/11/2022 03:47

One on the landing and one in a cupboard next to washing machine. All gets taken down regularly then sorted into lights/darks at the downstairs basket

I have the Joseph Joseph tota laundry basket in my hallway, very stylish and practical. It changed my life. Quite pricey but I saved up for it

We have one in the utility room. It's a foldable one made by Outwell, so I guess intended for camping. It's fab, you can easily hide it away when not full of clothes!

I like the idea of a laundry basket that you can hide away but ours is only empty for about 5 seconds a week, so there wouldn't be a lot of point!

Blankscreen · 05/12/2022 20:01

In the utility room.

Take the dirty clothes down as I go.

Much easier to sort through right next to the washing machine.

4yearsandwaiting · 05/12/2022 20:22

One on the landing for dc, more likely to use when it's in plain site (that's my hope anyway) and one in ensuite.
