Where do you keep laundry baskets?

Random one, but where does everyone keep their laundry baskets (the ones for dirty washing)
We all have one in our bedrooms at the moment, but thinking about it I've never seen them in anyone else's homes.
Is there a hack I'm missing?!

I don’t have one! Everything gets out straight into washing machine then I wash when it’s nearly full!

pimlicoanna · 25/11/2022 18:43

One in each bedroom. As a kid it was always in the bathroom

leafblowaway · 25/11/2022 18:45

We used to have what @VerveClique had in our Pax wardrobes but now have the single wardrobes in the spare room, inside we have shelves and the blue Ikea laundry baskets. We have 5 of them so everything is pre-sorted into whites, blacks/reds/jeans, darks and lights plus a cleaning cloths one. Everyone puts their clothes into that. Each basket gets full enough to wash once a week except the cleaning cloths which I do when it is full.

The basket is great for transporting it down and then taking clean clothes back upstairs. I wipe it out when the clothes are emptied into the washing machine.

One in each bedroom and one narrow one that fits under the sink in the bathroom.
When we had a larger hall, we had an ottoman in the hall where everyone could put their washing. It also doubled as a seat for taking off shoes, etc.

We have one in the bathroom and one in the utility room. They have lids on so can’t see the endless piles 🤭

Topbird29 · 25/11/2022 18:58

Have 1 in each bedroom behind the door - got slimline ones from amazon.

user374698 · 25/11/2022 19:00

In the utility room, there are only two of us though so don't really need one upstairs as well

HeddaGarbled · 25/11/2022 19:03

Big nice-looking one with a lid on the landing. Ugly plastic carry basket hidden in the airing cupboard for carrying a single load downstairs, then up again once washed.

Adeleskirts · 25/11/2022 19:07

In the bedrooms as that’s where we tak our clothes off. I don’t go into th4 bathroom at night to get undressed, and i don’t do my husband or daughters laundry, they do their own when they have a full load, as do I. Can’t perceive a situation where I’d be skivvying around washing their undies. They are adults. They can do it themselves

No499 · 25/11/2022 19:21

In our laundry room. We keep a small basket in our closet which I transfer when it gets full.

VerbenaGirl · 25/11/2022 19:22

On the landing, so I can get a wash on if others are still asleep.

BooksAndHooks · 25/11/2022 19:22

Outside the bathroom door.

howhardisittogettyres · 25/11/2022 19:23

Well I'm amazed, I assumed everyone kept them in the bathroom.

You learn something new every day.

Utility room next to the machine. It has a lid on it.

Me too.

Our bathroom isn't big enough.

I find this attitude of do your own washing odd. We are a family, when there is a load to do someone (not just me) puts it on.

So do I. It's terribly ineffiecient. I wash all towels and bedding in Bio powder at a higher temperature than I do jeans for example, which I don't wash in bio powder. When DD is at home the washer would go on twice as often if we all did our own washing. It is expensive, less energy efficient and bad for the planet.

Our house isn't a student house share.

Utility room next to the machine. It has a lid on it.

Actually I have a second one there too, for tea towels and dishcloths.

Robin233 · 25/11/2022 20:56

Family bathroom

healthadvice123 · 25/11/2022 23:44

Bathroom or landing

CrappyUsername · 26/11/2022 00:11

Ours are hidden, we have a wide landing with a sideboard. The sideboard cupboards hide the 3 canvas baskets.

My friend has a window seat on her landing with 2 drawers under the seat for washing baskets.

In my old house we just used to keep the baskets on the landing.

Orangebadger · 26/11/2022 00:14

We have one in the utility room. It's a foldable one made by Outwell, so I guess intended for camping. It's fab, you can easily hide it away when not full of clothes!

I’m sure when your DD was a child you did her washing. I’m also rather certain at some points some of you have undressed in a bathroom and taken a bath or shower before bed, no?

DipmeinChoc · 26/11/2022 08:36

On the landing, everyone passes it on their way to the bathroom at night so easy to keep bedroom floors clean. If we have visitors, I throw it in our bedroom. I want a nice new one with a lid.

AnotherCountryMummy · 26/11/2022 08:40

Ours in our bathroom but the kids have theirs in the bedrooms.
