Where do you keep laundry baskets?

Random one, but where does everyone keep their laundry baskets (the ones for dirty washing)
We all have one in our bedrooms at the moment, but thinking about it I've never seen them in anyone else's homes.
Is there a hack I'm missing?!

In our en suite for me and DH washing and in the nursery for baby boy.

EmpressaurusOfWitchesBackFromTheDead · 25/11/2022 17:24

Utility cupboard next to the washing machine.
Along with mop, broom, hoover, cat litter….

Crazymadchickenlady · 25/11/2022 17:27

On the landing upstairs. Tallish basket one with a lid on

We have them on the landing so everyone can throw stuff in and I can do a wash without going into each bedroom.

Same

TheSausageKingofChicago · 25/11/2022 17:35

Next to the washing machine with a lid on. I keep meaning to move it to the landing but I’m lazy

cptartapp · 25/11/2022 17:37

In a corner of our bedroom behind the en suite door.

QuietYou · 25/11/2022 17:39

@stuntbubbles or should I say Mariah, your post made me laugh, thanks 😊

We have one in each bedroom although mine and DH's lives in the en suite. Works well as older DC generally wash their own clothes and I tend to wash everyone else's separately.
I'm considering a bathroom basket for towels though as they take up a lot of space.

AlwaysLatte · 25/11/2022 17:40

We have one in our en-suite, one on the children's landing and one in the family bathroom. Every morning I empty them into a sorter trolley in the laundry room. It's a game changer as it means when each section is full it's a full wash and no overflowing laundry in the house (Laundry room in an outhouse).

Do you go into other peoples bedrooms often?

We have a tall laundry cupboard from Ikea. Two bins, one for whites, one for darks. Two holes in the door through which to post the laundry. It stands in the corner of the landing near the bathroom.

The Nysjön laundry cabinet! It's fab. I first spotted it in Ikea Oslo, long before they started selling it in the UK, but sadly have nowhere I could put one.

Namechanger1002 · 25/11/2022 17:43

In our downstairs toilet we have 3. Think they are actually recycling bins but they work well for us and are stackable.

superdupernova · 25/11/2022 17:47

We don't have space for one in the bathroom. We keep ours in the bathroom in a corner beside a wide set of drawers. A visitor wouldn't see them unless they were stood in the room on the window side of the bed.

We've had ours for years, I love it!

wonkylegs · 25/11/2022 17:54

We have 2 next to each other (whites / colours) in our bedroom
And a beautiful Lloyd loom one on the landing outside the bathrooms in a little niche that was almost made for it.

HouseInChaos · 25/11/2022 17:54

In the bedroom. That's where I take my clothes off, and I'm far too lazy to go anywhere else with them so they'd just end up on the floordrobe if it were anywhere else.

Freshmind001 · 25/11/2022 17:57

I have a small apartment so we keep one big basket in the bathtub

RampantIvy · 25/11/2022 18:01

In our bedroom. It's the only place where there is enough space.

Gronkle · 25/11/2022 18:05

I had a laundry shoot out in, there's a little door in the wall on my landing and clothes drip into a laundry basket in my utility room. Best thing I ever did. I don't even have a big house.

Gronkle · 25/11/2022 18:06

Put and Drop, stupid fat fingers!

IToldYouAmillionTimesAlready · 25/11/2022 18:07

Just one tall one, in the bathroom.

Tiggy321 · 25/11/2022 18:07

Have a laundry chute from bathroom down to basement where washing machine is! Sounds great but in reality the rest of my family can't seem to open the cupboard door to put it down the chute 🤷‍♀️ so they just pile it up outside the cupboard door !!

Yup us too.
plain view.anyone would see it.
usually the stuff is chucked on top and it’s a hold out to see who will crack first😉
then it’s all together and chucked over the banister at wash time.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 25/11/2022 18:26

In the spare room so clothes don’t clutter up the bedrooms.

NCFT0922 · 25/11/2022 18:28

In their bathrooms.

WashAsDelicates · 25/11/2022 18:29

Upstairs landing. It's L-shaped, with the stairs going up the inside of the L. The baskets are along the base of the L. Very convenient for the bedrooms, but not in anyone's way.
