Morning all

I thought I would start by posting my morning routine:

Up and dressed
S&S
Make Beds
Empty Dishwasher
Breakfast
Wash Breakfast Pots
Hang Out washing/washing in dryer
Sort out lunchtime meal

All done, apart from the lunchtime meal, we are going to a party at noon, so no need!!!

I really need to get the ironing completed today, as we go away tomorrow.

We have guests staying last night and tonight (God daughter and BF) in seperate rooms - they are only 18.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning Guys

I seriously need to get back on track so I'm going to get into my routines again. I know it is Saturday and we arent meant to do housework but I'm starting the week early.

Morning routine

  1. Make bed - DONE
  2. Swish & Swipe en suite bathroom
  3. Put a wash load in - DONE
  4. Empty dishwasher - DONE
  5. Feed cat & fish - DONE
  6. Check calendar - DONE
  7. DRINK SOME WATER
  8. Clear away breakfast things - DONE
  9. Think about what you want for dinner - DONE
10. 2 minute hotspot - DONE (by the computer) 11. 5 minute room rescue - DONE (picked up all toys in living room and playroom

I cant be bothered to go back upstairs and do the bathroom so I'll do the downstairs loo instead, and then I'll get a drink of water and a cup of tea.

Alambil · 29/12/2007 11:00

Hello everyone

Am new here - got told to come and meet you all cos I need serious help!

I have got up and done half the washing up (you will appreciate how much that was if I tell you I had NO clean plates/bowls/pans/dishes - anything....)

Half is done, the other half will be done later.

Dad is coming back to finish the DIY for me so once that is done I'm out to town for the market.

Will come back later and sort bathroom out (put stuff in cabinet that is now on the wall) and will also finish sorting the lounge (clean clothes away, stuff away in general).

Then will put rest of shopping away and sort washing in the machine on to airer.

What a busy day! I really hope I'll get all of it done, but if not - there's always tomorrow (see - that is why I need help!)

gibberish · 29/12/2007 11:24

Hi lewis You sound like you are pretty much on top of things anyway.

Have you had a look at the FLYlady site? Great tips - it really works.

Right, have tidied downstairs, cleared out the recycling cupboard (and sent dh down to the recycling plant with about 500 lager cans and 300 wine bottles ), swept the back garden patio, steps and paths, put a washing on, loaded the dishwasher and tidied up the books in the dining room (fil will be sleeping in there). Off to hoover, clean the kitchen and wash the floor, and swish and swipe the downstairs bathroom. Be back in a bit!

gibberish · 29/12/2007 11:26

oh also lewis, it's pretty quiet here at the moment. Think a lot of the ladies are away so don't think you are being ignored! If you need any tips/advice feel free to ask

I am GOING now!

Alambil · 29/12/2007 11:33

Thanks gibberish, I figured most people were away cleaning or other stuff!

I am grabbing a few mins on here whilst dad goes to B&Q lol.

Will look at the site later tonight and make notes lol lol.

I am finally feeling like I CAN be in control - my mum helped me blitz the place from a "how clean is your house" hell hole (seriously) to a habitable space with no flies (puke).

I just need to tighten my ship a bit more and then it will be fine. I have no excuse - I don't work and won't be at uni til September so am at home enough to do housework; I just can't bear it. The depression doesn't help either but I think they go hand-in-hand so if I just bite the bullet and get on with it, my depression will get a bit better because the house will be a home.

I am going to get paint samples this afternoon too to start decorating the bathroom as soon as I can afford to buy the paint. I am sick of living in a half-done house.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 29/12/2007 11:39

Hi Lewis - welcome.

Here are some links which may be of use :

gibberish · 29/12/2007 12:19

Well I know all about the half-done house But at least once it is all de-cluttered and clean, it will be easy to finish it!

Hoovered and dusted downstairs. Put on second load of washing. Off to finish kitchen and clean the floor!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 29/12/2007 13:07

Hi Gibberish

Ok, so I didnt drink any water this morning but I did everything else which I think is pretty good.

Afternoon routine

  1. Clear away lunch things - DONE
  2. Empty/reload dishwasher - DONE
  3. Hang out/collect washing - DONE
  4. Swish & swipe downstairs loo - DONE
  5. 15 minutes
  6. DRINK SOME WATER
  7. Kelly?s Mission - N/A

I feel very smug. Just 15 mins to do which I'll do later.

I'm going to be staring work on Mondays and Fridays in a few weeks. I cant decide if being out of the house will keep it cleaner or if it will just make me behind with everything...

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 29/12/2007 13:17

Hi all.

I am feeling a bit poorly. Full of cold and headache but i have managed to tidy round the front room a bit.
We didn't get to the cinema in the end. There wasn't enough money in the bank. DD's had a magazine and cake from bakery instead and seem happy enough playing here.

I am going to just sit here for a bit. Tablets have worn off and can't take anymore for an hour.

Grouchyoscar · 29/12/2007 15:19

Afternoon ALL and a big hello to Lewis

Very little sleep last night DH was snoring for the country again so I went downstairs to watch TV (The Salvager on Discovery. Amazing what he can do with rubbish) I also had to tidy round so I could lie down somewhere {shock]

I've just stopped for the 1st time since 8:30 Today I have

Up
Put away bed
Take Ed downstairs (he's better now, just a snot monster)
Clean out the cat litter
Slosh trays
Empty dehumidifyer
Put spent litter in the outside bin
Empty household bins to rubbish and recycling
Empty DW
Put away
Write Ed's thank you cards
Take wet washing up 2 floors to hang on clothes horse
Bring down dryer washing
Load and run TD
Steam clean the sofa and cushions (Ed had a milk spillage)
Change Ed's toys in front room and his bedroom
Sweep downstairs
Change vac bag
Vac downstairs
Vac staircase and landing
Vac Ed's room
Vac bathroom
Clean out the Rayburn fireplace (DH likes a log fire but never cleans it out
Mop kitchen
Mop front room
Mop bathroom

I now have nothing left to do, oh sort some paperwork out for work.

Ed bless him wants to write a thankyou card to Santa Can you do that? Does anyone know where to write?

Hope you're all having good days. It's dark and dismal here (and raining)

JingleyJen · 29/12/2007 15:21

Oh Tort hope you feel better soon!

This morning
Up with boys
make beds
SS bathroom sink
make breakfast
unload and reload dishwasher
unload and reload washing machine

However haven't done anything else as I had another bath in my new eczema stuff and lathered on new cream whilst DS1 went out on his bike with Dh and DS2 had a nap.

Since then we have been out to the new development round the corner trying to get ideas for out new bathrooms, then we went for a pub lunch.

DS2 now asleep again and DS1 watching incredibles.

GOT to clean sitting room this afternoon! & do the ironing

Lewis - don't try to do to much in the first few days or you will stop because it will drive you mad. If you have a timer on your cooker set it for 15 minutes - DO NOT do any more than that in each room. You will get there (Each time I think my house is bad I think of Mr Trebus on Life of Grime Documentary)

Hope you are all thinking of New Years resolutions

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 29/12/2007 15:23

Thanks Jen. Tablets don't seem to be making much difference.
GO You have been busy as usual.

JingleyJen · 29/12/2007 15:25

GO you could always send it to me and I will write a letter back if you like??

Grouchyoscar · 29/12/2007 15:42

Oh how sweet of you Jen I'll wait and see if he mentions it again.

Last year he sent a letter (of wants) to an address I found on here. I could search previous convos I suppose

Grouchyoscar · 29/12/2007 15:44

Oh Tort [Grouchy make a hot honey and lemon drink] Have you been Wii 10 pin bowling yet?

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 29/12/2007 15:45

Thanks Go
Yes have wii bowled and boxed and golfed and baseballed! lol! Arms were very sore yesterday. Still need to get a 2nd remote though.

Grouchyoscar · 29/12/2007 15:49

Ed's getting a bit too Wii obsessed at time but he loves making the Miis and trys to make them look like everyone he knows

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 29/12/2007 15:54

Ah yes the mii's! DS2 was making a load of them yesterday. All of us plus some of all of their friends. I have no idea why though.
Must get a few more games soon too.

Alambil · 29/12/2007 16:00

Thanks everyone for the welcome - I feel so at home!

Dad has done the DIY and to be honest, the improvement to the lounge is amazing - all he did was put a plug in the cupboard so the extension lead can go in and the door can close (as opposed to being kept open by wires poking out); result is a much smarter looking cupboard

Just got the rest of the washing up left and put away food shopping (only 1 carrier worth)

This cleaning lark is never-ending it seems! I think I'm going to actually have to read the links you so kindly gave otherwise I'll burn out and not have any idea where to go or what to do!

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the welcome
