Help, tell me to start de-cluttering. I have black bags, I have a cloth skip

I can't face it. I've been watching videos about hoarders all morning and I need to tackle this. The floor all around my wardrobe is just covered up with boxes and bags and other things that won't fit in the wardrobe. I'm a single parent, work ft, I would like to have this tackled before I go back to work or it will hang over me for another year getting worse.

My kitchen is tidy. But for some reason my room is a mess. Part of the problem is that there's not enough space for my things. But then, some people would manage to fit a man and his stuff in to a room this big Confused and have it be tidy??!!!!
It's such a big job. I don't dislike any of my clothes. I do have more than I need though. I feel a bit cross that my house is so small and I'm forced in to the position of having to throw out things that other people with a bigger house and bedroom could keep.
My friend told me to do 90 minutes everyday for 3 days, starting today, and then when I go in to tackle it on 3rd Jan, it'll be a less daunting task.
I'm sorry if it seems like this is a pointless thread. I just have tried all my usual methods of motivation and I'm still in bed thinking about it.
Right, I need to get dressed so that I can run in and out to the skip.

Ok, under the stairs is done. In one way, im done, with what id planned to do but i want to keep going and do a few drawer/cupboard in the kitchen tomorrow.

Low carbing out the window. Off to buy wine now! Actually, perhaps prosecco?!

My son was inspired yesterday. 16 days after I started, he tidied his room!

He wouldnt let me throw his old monitor 8n the skip. Its in the attic 🙈
Ill skip it next time!!

Thank you to everybody who posted here. In 30th December 2021 i had such a gargantuan task ahead of me. 17 days later it's done. Still going, but, tomorrow!

@FormerlyAHoarder I'm doing a happy dance for you! I'm hoping you feel really proud.

You definitely deserve Prosecco! Please don't give yourself a hard time about not low carbing whilst you've been doing this!

Me again! It's really interesting that your son tidied his room- I guess it is true that our DC do notice what we are doing and learn from it!

I'm really pleased for you

NoSquirrels · 15/01/2022 18:10

Wow! You’ve done absolutely brilliantly. Love your after pics, great job.

Enjoy the 🍾

Well done that is amazing. How do you feel?

I've been decluttering heading for minimalism for 10 months now. And my stumbling block is DH and the DC. All my stuff is done.

But we are now moving overseas for 3 years so Im ramping up the decluttering. We already have some half empty shelves Grin but I really only want to keep what we use and like.

Im so impressed that you did under the stairs so well, because it sounded like that was the bit you were really dreading. So glad you found your deeds.

I'm doing some clearing out of my Mum's flat for her move. My house is full of her stuff... but at least I have done some sorting of my own. It makes a difference.
