Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

I have been busy working all week (normal work week). But I do have some ta das.

YesTaDas:
🌻 helped MIL switch out beds (was a big job)
🌻 Swept and mopped their bedroom floor, evicting all the dust bunnies and cat hairballs
🌻 loaded their bed into the pickup, took out to the storage unit
🌻 got the bed they will be using out of the storage unit (was at the very back)
🌻 replaced that need with their old bed
🌻 loaded the other bed into the pickup
🌻 wiped down the bed since it was dirty from the storage unit
🌻 built the bed (4 poster bed)
🌻 helped MIL make the bed
🌻 brought a chest of drawers from storage unit (well, had BIL & his friend pick it up as it was too heavy for us to lift)
🌻 wiped them all down
🌻 wiped down tv etc that was in their room
🌻 got a chest out of the storage unit for me to take home
🌻 went home to take a shower
🌻 treated the chest with wood oil before taking it down to the basement with help from DH (extremely heavy and solid, although in need of some repairs)
🌻 went back to ILs for dinner and games, throwing away a chair on the way there (tried to donate it but they didn't want it - too worn)

Right now we are on our way to see Jeff Dunham (the comedian with puppets) for our family Christmas present 2019. So no flying to be done today!

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/11/2021 18:15

Enjoy hazel
Honey that exactly what is like- crazy preggo lady!!(glad not just me thinks it!)
MC if mctiny was bottle fed

TheHoneyBadger · 07/11/2021 18:20

Could just dilute milk?

HauntingHazel · 07/11/2021 18:27

I forgot to add that I added a tiny bit of juice to water 🤦‍♀️ it wasn't straight juice, just enough to give it flavour, but I also made sure there was no added sugar as well

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/11/2021 19:30

i know people that used to poach fruit (pears etc) in water, give lo the pears to eat but use the poaching water for them to drink.

Super productive weekend here, and now everything hurts so I’m having an early night with a book and tea and catching up with you lovely lot.

Sorry so many of you are struggling physically or mentally at the minute. Hills Hope you get relief from the back pain soon (and glad you got some dancing around the kitchen in before it hit). That hope the illness is short-lived like real manly man flu. Honey that sounds awful but you’re keeping on top of the basics so be proud of yourself Flowers

Love the knitting Zoo. You and Goth are very clever with your creations.

Mc Hope mctiny is on the move. DD was never a fan of water at all but she started to drink more when I went back to work and stopped breastfeeding through the day. Just happened quite naturally really. Always worrying when they are poorly though.

Ah Willow I hate when football dictates roast timing. Ours didn’t happen today Sad. Pumpkin cheesecake sounds delicious.

Dancing glad you had a nice time at the party. I’ll add the paint colour photos and if there’s any you like I’ll check the name for you. Thought I’d take some of the living room and DD’s room but apparently I haven’t so I’ll add those tomorrow. They are all dulux and available in a wipe clean version.

Your in-laws are very lucky to have you Hazel!

Sorry, I know I’ve missed others, hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

Mc- i would look at some advice from kellymom.com.

Ideas-

  1. let him play with a free flowing sippy cup- surestart gave us cups with 2 handles and lids with large holes in the spout.
  1. Spoon water into Mctiny mouth- ( some will dribble out.)
  1. Homemade ice lolly? To lick and learn to suck. Big hugs to Mctiny.

Wellies- hope you lip is ok now?
Hills- spd feelings are horrible- hope it eases soon.
Hazel- thats a list! Have a fab time!!
Sing- hope your ear is gettting better.
Zoo- hope got a bit of a rest this weekend. I agree it should be taught as part of women curriculum- i thought I was going insane with crying and panic attacks.
Honey- this thread is amazing as everyone is supportive here- life throws up shit situations and it messes with mental health and the house suffers. Its all linked.
i understand how you feel. Peri is horrible. Are you on a wonderful facebook page called 'life after teaching.' Its the only place i honestly felt like people had experienced a similar thing to me.

Cherry waves to everyone!

StillUp · 07/11/2021 21:20

Meant on the mend Mc, not move.

Right. Epic, and probably not exhaustive, weekend ta da list (obviously along with DH. I promise I did no heavy lifting)

💪 put all furniture back in the correct room in the correct place (much rearranging has been done)
💪 hoovered/swept and mopped various floors
💪 several pieces of flat pack assembled
💪 organised DD’s room after she helped me with some decluttering of toys/donating to baby. Put new bedding on and some pretty wall stickers, new storage boxes put into use, new light shade up etc. She’s delighted. Just the new curtains to go up when I’ve bought a suitable pole.
💪 re-organised living room incorporating new furniture. It looks sooo much tidier, and a new rug and cushions makes it feel cosy.
💪 reorganised dining room cupboards and under stairs cupboard, including a new craft trolley thing for DD, easier to access toys and carefully put away and organised Christmas/Easter/Halloween decorations etc. Lots of decluttering of crap from said cupboards
💪 hallway/landing put back together, coat hooks and curtain back up, coats and shoes and hats/gloves etc organised.
💪 multiple LOLs
💪 kitchen and dishes done
💪 firework display with DD
💪 reading and maths with DD.
💪 did my BP monitoring and by some miracle it was acceptable Grin

We have clean work and school clothes for tomorrow although some early morning ironing is probably required.

There are still various pictures and curtain poles to go back up, and unfortunately there were issues with the new bedroom furniture so the boudoir is still chaotic. I sorted it with customer services and DH is taking some time off work to sort it once we have replacements.

Remind never ever to decorate so many rooms at once again Grin

StillUp · 07/11/2021 21:23

Oh and don’t ask about the nursery. That is painted but currently resembles a dumping ground Hmm

SingToTheSky · 07/11/2021 21:42

Love the paint up I have no idea how you managed all that so quickly! Just one room felt like a huge undertaking here!

po3.3
❗️Write on weekly planner
❗️Wash bras
❗️Order trackball for PC as the mouse is driving me insane

StillUp · 07/11/2021 21:47

Well, delegating the actual decorating to a professional definitely sped up the process Grin. The stairs and hall etc took him a day and a half (took us over a week when we did it, badly) and he did the bedrooms and sitting room in 3.5 days. All woodwork, doors, ceilings as well. I will never ever attempt it myself again! It helped that he did it while we were at work/school. It’s a much bigger undertaking under the feet of a family of 5.

Mc3209 · 07/11/2021 22:24

Very impressive!
Up that paintwork is fab!
Those I hope your Man flu goes away soon. It's miserable having to look after little ones when under the weather yourself.

Thank you very much for all your advice, everyone. I will be trying it all out.

SingToTheSky · 07/11/2021 22:35

Ah yes I forgot that 😁🤣 still it’s an awful lot of faff just to be ready to decorate isn’t it?! We still have lots of BRCs in the living room. TBF I would’ve tackled more by now if my ears weren’t being stupid (the new drops do seem to be helping a bit though, dare I say!)

po3.4
❗️Quick room rescue living room including taking rest of clean laundry up
❗️Hang out bras once wash is finished
❗️Do a bit more maths then go to sleep at a vaguely reasonable time… honest

Excited about tomorrow but nervous too - hopefully meeting a colleague in person for the first time (as in, I’ve not actually met anyone in person yet, not even my manager!) and I may also be shadowing them on a school visit, but I need to check in the morning.

Best crack on.

SingToTheSky · 08/11/2021 01:01

ta da
🐌LOL into dryer
🐳cancelled some stuff DS isn’t well enough for
🐌ordered meds
🐳bit of work including prepping notes for two things I have to talk about at the next staff meeting eeeek!!!
🐌ordered disabled railcard as I’ll be travelling in peak time for work soon (get paid expenses but still, may as well save the money and with Clubcard vouchers it only cost £2!)
🐳put laundry away
🐌spirit renewal - did some maths which I’ve abandoned lately
🐳reading
🐌bathed Cagletini and put her to bed
🐳made arrangements to see mum
🐌ordered stuff online
🐳washed bras and hung them out
🐌cleaned and wrote on weekly planner
🐳ordered tesco

The going to bed at a decent time worked well clearly 😳🙄
DD1 got very chatty and was actually showing me maths stuff she’s learned (maths is her nemesis so this is not to be sneezed at!). Also feeling pretty smug as she’s acing all the Macbeth stuff at school - we did it while she was still home ed so she knows it pretty well 😁

Right, sleep.

HauntingHazel · 08/11/2021 03:11

Sing I hope DS feels better soon. That's good that DD is doing so well in Maths and able to show what she knows about Macbeth
mc good luck with the water, there's lots of good advice on here.
Most of shifting stuff was done by MIL and myself, I know I'm feeling it in my body today though, I ache all over. It did take about 7 hours to do all of the moving furniture for them 😴

We finally went to a Jeff Dunham - he was worth the wait! DH and I have seen him on tour before and knew he was good. The DC loved it too. I can't wait to see the special on Netflix in a few months, see what pieces he ends up using or dropping from this event.
It'll be a late night for us, probably getting home at 10:30 or so, then all needing to take a shower etc. I work tomorrow. Ugh.
🍒👋 to everyone

Thanks zoo. Much needed this morning. Stupid bloody WillowHound got me up at 12 minutes past six, scratching and whining to go out. He did NOT need a wee. He wanted a romp round the garden, and a yarp, and then to fall asleep on the sofa 🤬.

Anyway.
Ta Da:
❤️ Coffee
🧡 Healthful Breakfast of porridge with grated apple and cherries.

I may also have had a small additional nap on the sofa and now have a crick in my everything!

To do:
🍁 Get DD to volunteering
🍂 Sort out masses of LOLs
🍁 Get DS3 up and to do the dog walk
🍂 Do a brain dump
🍁 Do some writing
🍂 Defrost fish and make fishcakes for dinner
🍁 DW rotation
🍂 Worry about Christmas presents

That hope you are feeling better and Hazel hope you have had a good night out and are not too achey from all your furniture moving!

Up what lovely paint colours! We had that yellow in our bedroom of our first flat, it's so cheerful and brings back so many happy memories. Although I did spend a lot of time thinking I'd left the light on 😁.

🍒👋 and Happy New Week to sing, ED, merryhouse (how was choir practice? And what part do you sing?) Bumble, foxes, Red, Mc, HalfHope, Hills, Goth, Honey (sending best love for this week, hope it's better) Yup and everyone else... There are always two or three people I think of after I post 🤦

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 08/11/2021 07:59

Oh Hills. Hope your back can be fixed soon, or at least you can get some naproxen / physio.

TheHoneyBadger · 08/11/2021 07:59

@Stilllivinginazoo

Thank you. I live there now.

Hills sorry you're in pain - hope you can get some decent relief.

I woke up at 3.30am. Going to be very tired later.

Now time to get the boy to get in the shower and stick another lol on if the last lot is dry. Might go as far as emptying the dw too before work.

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/11/2021 08:27

Naughty corner is a comfy place to be Honey, but if you are doing laundry and DW you are flying. Just remember that the core point of Flylady is tiny little actions each day towards the end goal. Your house might not be perfect, and the laundry basket not empty but you are still doing little bits. be comfy and hope your day isn't too stressful.

Morning Zoo

Sorry Willowhound got you up so early willow

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 08/11/2021 09:16

Hills* hope whatever source of attention your back requires is available and you can be seen today
Willow I am tempted sometimes to wake our felines by running up n downstairs screaming whilst they are sleeping then poke them in the ears.I suspect willowhound would be equally unimpressed should you wake him at ridiculous o'clock screeching...also brekkie sounded delish!
Honey anythings better than nothing.ut all countsWink

TheHoneyBadger · 08/11/2021 09:18

Smile Wish I could take all the naughty corner goodies and my duvet to work with me.

SingToTheSky · 08/11/2021 09:59

Morning folks

Phew, chemistry lesson cancelled for tomorrow which is good as DS is still under the weather. Arranged to hopefully start physics next week too. Hopefully he will be better by then - his cough doesn’t sound deep enough to be a chest infection but I’m not sure if we need to get him to the GP now. It’s not a new cough since he had covid (September) but it’s worse if that makes sense?

po3.1
❗️Look up colleague’s address and figure out travel as we are now meeting there instead of town
❗️Find DS’ chemistry book and do homework with him (totally forgot over the weekend)
❗️Find out if school visit is happening still

Oh bugger I just realised I have no smart shoes 🙈 I bought some for the first interview that were too big (and it ended up having to be on zoom anyway so didn’t need them). My boots will have to do!
