Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/10/2021 12:13

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

Well that is true Hills!

Glad you caught up with your friend Red.

GoingGoingGoth · 23/11/2021 19:00

Ta-dahs

2 lots of laundry
Weekly bleugh
Sunday dinner, 2 days late
Bread loaf made.
Washing up
Sorted out a bag of crochet to sell in local craft shop. Everything labelled & priced.

About to settle down and crochet some more

HalfHope · 23/11/2021 19:14

Well done Goth. I just have to Hoover the main bedroom and then must tidy the office which is catastrophic. Enjoying a peaceful cuppa first.

SingToTheSky · 23/11/2021 19:49

Evening lovelies. I am sooo behind on the thread.

Today was fantastic - work event was really productive and I know my manager a lot better which is lovely.

Am now absolutely exhausted though and full of aches, so I’m glad tomorrow isn’t too busy.

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 23/11/2021 20:53

Evening all! I have survived the day.

Ta da:
❤️ collected bit of lavatory from Screwfix
🧡 Walked to town for apples and some quiet planning in a coffee shop
💛 Planning curtailed after 10 mins after phone call from school asking me to rescue DD
💚 Trotted home. Rescued DD
💙 Went to next town over for apples and boughten lunch of lovely baguettes
💜 Quick nap
❤️ Spoke to new client
🧡 Did first half of Home Bleugh - beds were done at the weekend, today I did hoovering, dusting and polishing
💛 Tidied kitchen

No writing done. FIL is now shouting at DH that he is making things up to tell the Memory Clinic.

I am going to watch Who Do You Think You Are and mend some trousers (all the hems have come down simultaneously).

HalfHope · 23/11/2021 21:26

I have two pairs of trousers to take up woolly - now on the long list!

Sing glad today was productive.

I have tidied house so it is presentable but dusty.

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/11/2021 21:52

new windows fitted
aired through more than 6hrs after they left and 2 don't shut.
Nothing was said about not opening, only that they needed to be left several hours before we put curtains back etc.
Going to be honest i am not impressed with the quality either.
Hmm

Round 2 tomo.

HazelNuttyElf · 23/11/2021 21:59

hope yes, I am making the pumpkin pie, along with a keto friendly creamy pecan pie (my own recipe), rolls, turkey, ham, Brussels sprouts with bacon, jalapeño poppers and ranch dressing. So just a little bit to make 😆 ILs will be bringing more food also and DD is making candied yams, deviled eggs and mashed potatoes. DS will help us both.
We won't go hungry!

HazelNuttyElf · 23/11/2021 22:26

Oh hills that's awful
woolly sorry to hear FIL is being difficult
Sing Hopefully you can get some rest tomorrow, a busy day can be good, but tiring.

Ta Das so far:
🍁 bedding and mattress protector washed, dried and put back on the bed
🍁 dog taken to get anal glands expressed, they were full again!
🍁 gave dog a bath
🍁 called dentist to reschedule appts
🍁 call optician to fix DS glasses
🍁 cleaned bathrooms
🍁 made hair appt for DS
🍁 rotated DW
🍁 cleared countertops of piled up stuff, put everything away
🍁 donated tree
🍁 took DS to opticians
🍁 3 other LOLs

It's now snowing outside! But I do have more to do, mostly laundry.

brambleon · 23/11/2021 23:34

Your tree is so lovely hazel!
zoo DD is Eleanor but almost always goes by Nell/Nellie.
up great news that baby stuff is in good condition😊. We need to get a new Moses basket/co sleeper. I need to get a move on tbh.
wooly I love your Christmas bedding😍
red glad you had a lovely day with your friend❤️
hazel enjoy the show!!
Sorry if I missed anything important I’m exhausted😴.
Not done any flying really. Had a nightmare at nursery this morning. DD is at a nursery that’s like 20 mins away in the car and 30 mins on the bike. It’s a really good nursery and the only one of the kind near us so we wanted to her to go but the nursery is very conscious about being eco friendly (one of the reasons I like it) and encourages people to walk/cycle rather than drive. Which I usually do but obviously am not doing as much lately because I’m heavily pregnant. Anyway I drove today and another few mums there were being very openly judgey and one even told me it was bad that I drove and if I want to drive I should find a new nursery. It’s so annoying because the person who runs the nursery has no issue with me driving. I know I should just ignore it but I just feel a bit rubbish about it all. DD’s only been there since September and we love it but the mums there are so judgmental🙄.

HalfHope · 24/11/2021 00:14

Brambleon that's way too judgy of those Mums. I'd be furious.
Hills - sorry windows are causing issues. Hope can be rectified tomorrow

HazelNuttyElf · 24/11/2021 01:30

bramble I'm assuming it's very clear that you are heavily pregnant?! I would be telling them that I'd rather not start labour early and maybe ask if they have any midwifery experience! I'm so mad for you 🤬 will they also be expecting you to use the bike for a newborn as well?!

Anyway, not done much more other than laundry. I did put more stuff away that had gathered and rotated the DW again. I will wash the handwash dishes in a little bit, but first we're going out for dinner 😋

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/11/2021 07:06

Chaos continues to threaten chez zoo
Still worried about Nelly
Kids dad's unravelling faster than cossie cat in my wool bag
Various zoolet issues
I swear peri hates me as exhaustion, palpitations, insomnia, breathlessness and joint pain and stiffness

HalfHope · 24/11/2021 07:56

@stilllivinginazoo 🌷. I'm sorry Nelly is still not right. I'd think stress is probably causing your peri issues to get worse.

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/11/2021 09:22

Zoo could you please stop putting your symptoms down as nothing. Breathlessness, joint pain and stiffness can be pretty darn serious. You are so used to putting yourself last and making excuses for the way you are feeling that you are not looking after yourself the way you would look after someone else. Pretty please at least consider getting checked out?

I am leaving the house. Apparently we don't know how to close a window funny that when we managed to close all the other windows Hmm

Solvent headache and fibro flare so totally done and leaving the people to sort their own problems out.

OP posts:
StillUp · 24/11/2021 09:32

Aww sorry to hear Nelly still isn’t herseld Zoo, and that the Zoolet’s Dad is still being himself Hmm. Hope today brings a calmer day for you all.

Can’t believe those Mums were complaining about you driving when you are heavily pregnant and live such a distance away Bramble. Crazy.

Last night’s menu sounds delicious Red.

When we had new windows there was definitely nothing about not opening them Hills. Hope they sort out the issues pronto.

Has DD gone into school ok today after yesterday Willow? Hope you get a quiet moment for your planning today.

Sounds like the new job is going really well Sing!

Good to have you back with us Goth. Star for home bleurgh (I can’t remember the last time I completed it Blush).

YesTaDas:

Flying:
🦅 morning routine in full
🦅 swept kitchen and dining room floors
🦅 2 minute tidy of downstairs
🦅 10 minutes decluttering/organising in dining room (that was our dumping ground during the decorating and still hasn’t returned to its usual state)
🦅 10 minutes decluttering/organising in boudoir
🦅 halved ironing pile
🦅 put away DD’s clean clothes and did 5 minutes tidying in her room

Baby:
👶 ordered replacement part for pram
👶 collected together some random baby items from DD’s wardrobe
👶 spent 5 minutes sorting baby’s room (basically moving stuff about; not very successful!)

Christmas:
🎅 ordered DH’s present
🎅 checked budget and made a comprehensive list of what I need to buy

All interspersed with lots of Netflix/mumsnet, feet up and snacks Smile

TaDas this morning:
✅ Most of morning routine except s&s
✅ School run, and remembered to take some rubbish that DD has been collecting for the craft table (sorry other parents, she insisted)

Plan for today:
House: clean hob, clean bathroom, another 10
minutes each in bedroom and dining room
Baby: wash car seat covers, have another blast in baby’s room, midwife appointment
Christmas: browse online for gift I’m stuck on, deliver gifts I picked up on behalf of DGM to her.

Will also try and catch up on the Nigel
Slater Christmas book.

HalfHope · 24/11/2021 15:24

For various reasons we've decided to have a Thanksgiving dinner ourselves on Thursday so Turkey breast has been purchased. Could do with a pick-me-up this time of year.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/11/2021 19:34

I have anti procrastinated on Delilah's baby blankie and made headway on the edging(before she starts school.lol)

HalfHope · 24/11/2021 20:12

Morning all (just about)

Still overwhelmed here with general life, need a gallon of power of three today as I’ve achieved nothing so far except some maths and physics with DS. And DH and I wrote down what we’ve bought for Christmas so far to combine notes.

po3.1
❗️Mark physics work
❗️Use some Clubcard vouchers as they’re about to expire. Thinking cinema tickets
❗️Check UC website as I have a message apparently

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/11/2021 12:07

Afternoon(missed morning,ooops)
Today was all about getting dd2 to school despite having terrific period pain(off yesterday) and accompanying bowel disturbance(has anxiety IBS anyway) as they are off for a long weekend/teacher training Fri/Mon
School have agreed to put lil zoo in for ASD/ADHD testing(camhs assessment over year ago flag it,ED team said no as makes eye contact and quashed it)

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/11/2021 12:08

SingToTheSky · 25/11/2021 12:33

po3.2
