How often do you change your tea towel ?

I change mine every day because I dry the dog bowls with it, then chuck it in the washing machine.

Every other day generally but we also have a separate towel for hand washing so the tea towel doesn’t get much use ( dishwasher does it all ) .

RichardMarxisinnocent · 02/10/2021 21:37

Seems I am very slovenly as only change mine probably every 2 weeks. But I very rarely actually use it. I have a separate hand towel for drying hands, and the vast majority of my washing up drip dries in the drainer. The tea towel only gets used if there is something wet which I need to use again before it dries. That probably happens about 3 times a week, and the items usually aren't sopping wet. There is no point changing my tea towel daily if it only dries 3 slightly wet items a week.

immersivereader · 02/10/2021 21:39

Every other day

Should be daily really

immersivereader · 02/10/2021 21:39

Disclaimer : we never dry up

BertieBotts · 02/10/2021 21:51

Loads, we don't wash up we put everything in the dishwasher, so the tea towels get used as a kind of paper towel equivalent. They get disgusting very fast.

MrsFezziwig · 02/10/2021 21:52

Not very often. I hardly use it though - just about everything either goes in the dishwasher or is air dried, and I have a separate towel to dry my hands, so I’ll just put it in the wash when I’m doing one without it actually being dirty.

I have managed to get to my mid-sixties without ever being poisoned by a tea towel, and am always baffled by the constant need to wash things that posters supposedly have on here.

dementedma · 02/10/2021 21:54

Probably every other day.

Tinpotspectator · 02/10/2021 22:16

Daily, and I don't use them for much. Tea towels harbour germs.

Chatterboxy · 02/10/2021 22:22

Every day.

Theoldwoman · 03/10/2021 14:24

We go through a few in a day. But we use them to wipe benches dry, wipe hands, on our knees when eating in front of the telly.

AuntieMarys · 03/10/2021 14:27

Never use one

waybill · 03/10/2021 14:36

We get through two a day normally, occasionally more.

lilacdinosaur · 03/10/2021 14:37

Probably once to twice a day, as soon as they are damp they go in the wash.

RobinPenguins · 03/10/2021 14:39

Every couple of days, or when they seem a bit rank.

Aquamarine1029 · 03/10/2021 14:40

Twice a day, every day.

ItsSunnyOutside · 03/10/2021 14:41

A new one everyday. Ours always ends up on the floor at some point or our little one likes to use it to help clean the floor if she spills her water on it!

vajingleberry · 03/10/2021 14:42

@Workinghardeveryday

This is mn so I am going to say every hour on the hour. They are put on a 90 wash for 2 hours on their own 😂
That's grim.

I have an alarm on my phone so that they get changed every 7 minutes.

I also have a seperate washing machine that is only used for tea towels.

KittyBurrito · 03/10/2021 14:44

Weekly - not used much as leave dishes to drip dry

SylvanasWindrunner · 03/10/2021 14:44

You're all disgusting. I buy new tea towels every day. Can't be too careful.

Doomscrolling · 03/10/2021 14:46

I use several a day, and a couple of cheap IKEA facecloths for cleaning stuff as well. After use they go in a bucket by the washing machine, and get washed when it’s full. I have around 20 tea towels and 15 small cloths.

Very rarely use sponges or paper towels, it’s pretty much all fabric.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 03/10/2021 14:47

Everytime there is a Royal Wedding or we visit a Cathedral.

huuskymam · 03/10/2021 14:47

Usually twice a day, but I've got kids that will wipe any little spillage with the tea towel, sauces, tea, juice, one even used it to wipe a chunk of spaghetti bolognese.

Pascha · 03/10/2021 14:58

I probably average one a day but sometimes it slips to a second day. They get used for loads here though. Drying hands, drying hand washed stuff, mopping spills etc. Often I have two or three on the go in varying states of cleanliness to rag.

BTW, I have a dishwasher but still end up washing bits and bobs as I need them. I've never gathered enough cutlery and crockery to go long enough to get a full. Load with needing them again.

Roselilly36 · 05/10/2021 07:29

2-3 times a day, I have a lot of tea towels!

HarebrightCedarmoon · 05/10/2021 07:31

Once a week. I only use them for drying clean pots though.
