Pumpkin spice and ghost abound, fledglings flying through the crazy

Right for this seasonal thread of the Fledgings, I invite you to pull up a comfy chair around the fire pit and pour yourself a mug of something that you fancy.

We loosely follow the flylady system and her babysteps. But we have our own spin, our own abbreviations and have been around for far longer than some of us would like to admit. If you are new to these parts welcome in, we'll get you up to speed in no time. But we have rules, yes rules!

Rule 1: No fledgling left behind.
life happens. If you fall off the thread, jump back when you are ready.

Rule 2: If you wouldn't say it to someone else, don't say it to yourself
Be kind to yourself, the world is still crazy, and life happens. Just do what you can, when you can.

Right that's the rules now for the fun part. Acronyms and autocorrects!
Amongst others (and there are others but we'll have to explain as we go along)
It's all gone a bit ponty pridd - tits up, pete tong, wrong etc etc we get to thank auto correct for this
WOW wash out Wednesday - humps days often don't go to plan and get washed out
LOL round these parts it is load of laundry

Urm... Yeah about that fire pit and comfy chair... Dibs on the big floofy one with fluffy blankies... Last one in brings the marshmallows!

“Finished sewing bats onto a full moon” wasn’t what I was expecting to read 😂

Up I think a deep clean is a brilliant idea and definitely the oven. My son those Ovenu people when he bought the house as it was filthy and he said it was brilliant and looked like new.

Hoping for negative for you.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/10/2021 07:23

red still have bad nights, but averaging 4-6,odd night i sleep a bit more.consistent bedtime/get up time, meditate every day.

Last night wasn't good.dd2 bad throat has reached me and woke up twice very painful to swallow then drippy nose began at 2am and that was sleep over lil zoo up at 4 with the throat so lurgies have been shared it seems....

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 21/10/2021 07:42

Sorry you all have the lurgy, zoo. I recommend hot honey and lemon all round, with a bit of ginger if you have any.

Good point, Red, I've not seen @HauntingHazel for a while. Hope all is well, Hazel. Enjoy your day of reading in the summerhouse, Red.

Up I think someone else in to deep clean and do the oven before Stilletto (Stilletta?) arrives is an excellent plan.

Bugger, just realised the time and DD is not up and will miss her train. Action stations!

Redsquirrel5 · 21/10/2021 08:16

Hope she caught her train. I used to go to school by train when I went to school( first Secondary) about 20 miles away then we moved in my 3rd year and it was bus. Loved the train.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 21/10/2021 08:20

Nope, I am sitting outside Little Tesco, where she is buying kit for Art Soc (that she helps run for the lower years) then running her up to school. At least it's forced me to get washed and dressed!

Redsquirrel5 · 21/10/2021 08:23

Try again iPad went very weird.

Zoo 4-6 is getting better. I am sleeping in because no one and no school to get up for so don’t sleep until late but two nights of 6 or more hours. 6 last night I can function on 6. It was 2 1;2 I was struggling with and GP said not safe so medication. Think I have been on them too long and getting too used to them. I find a lavender spray useful.

GoingGoingGoth · 21/10/2021 08:26

Thanks for sharing the recipe Willow will be trying it out in the very near future.

Yesterday was a good day, I got out in the garden in the morning and got quite a lot done. I then spent the afternoon trying to stop the pigeons eating the green manure seeds but hey-go

Then in the afternoon Teen & I finished a batch of scrunchies she wanted to do for a friends birthday, she’s still terrified of my sewing machine so she did the cutting ironing and fiddling with elastic. She says the ironing is relaxing so....

And then in the evening I finished a pair of wrist warmers while on the phone to my mum.

Am at work this afternoon so not sure how much Flying will get done, can’t really settle to anything on the first day of classes each month. I think the care home residents will like this activity, we’re painting glass jars to make tea light holders.

ScreamToTheSky · 21/10/2021 08:28

Morning everyone. The reality of working from home is hitting, well, home Hmm - Cagletini is really not well enough for nursery, think she won’t be going tomorrow either. But I have a quick staff meeting at 9 and a biiiig meeting at 10. And DH has therapy 9.30-10.40ish. So we just have to manage. At least being ill she won’t be running around causing mayhem, she may actually stay still to watch something. Silver lining Hmm

I woke up in the night with a sore throat too so I am hoping it won’t develop into anything.

po3.1
❗️Dressed meds breakfast
❗️Get laptop ready and open timesheet etc
❗️Zoom rescue for random crap in background

Redsquirrel5 · 21/10/2021 08:29

Yes true. I am still in bed. DH is going walking so I woke him and he is making me a cup of tea. Back is good just now. Will try a bit of housework today. Dusting would mean no bending.
Happy flying to those that can the rest of us will make tea and coffee in the naughty corner for anyone dropping by.

Dancingtomusic · 21/10/2021 08:55

Leaving lots and lots of hot water, honey and ginger in the naughty corner for everyone not feeling well Flowers

Goth- the glass tea lights sound lovely.
I would love to see a picture of the wrist warmers please.

Big waves to everyone.

YupIFreakilyHave · 21/10/2021 09:13

Morning everyone. Beautiful sunny day here today. I feel like shit though. I'm fed up of feeling unwell, so tired all the time and overwhelmed. I need an MOT and service. Or a stay at an Austrian health spa.

Again have lots of to-dos but I'll do what I can and post as tadas instead.

Going to catch up with the thread now.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 21/10/2021 09:38

Goth tealight holders sound a lovely idea. I would also love to see wrist warmers, DD is trying to teach me to crochet some but we're having an hours/day issue.

Scream good luck with meetings and Cagletini. Maybe hand her a paintbrush (without paint!)?

Tbf ds' school refuse to have them in if any symptoms. Even with negative covid test. So the school may well have no issue with that.

Yup I'm sorry you feel rubbish. Sending 💐 and 🍵 (that's meant to be soup).

ScreamToTheSky · 21/10/2021 11:42

Sorry you’re not well yup it’s dreadful when it feels endless 💐

Thanks willow we managed OK, panel was shorter today and I spent some of it in the kitchen to keep an eye on DS keeping an eye on Cagletini with the help of spongebob :o all done for the day now, but have admin to do later like timesheet.

Wall paint has arrived so must get Cagletini to bed earlier tonight and get on with the main painting!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/10/2021 13:02

yup can you get a rest in,even just couple hours at the weekend?sometimes that's what I need post when I've been going at everything too much when I'm below par

YupIFreakilyHave · 21/10/2021 13:23

Thanks everyone. I am feeling sorry for myself. Sad

Ta-da
Made banana bread

That's it. I'm taking it easy. I can't work out if the heaviness in my chest is cos I'm tired and poorly (there's lots of bugs going around at work) or whether it's because I am stressed (I feel like there's a weight on my chest when I'm stressed) or a combo.

Zoo - I'm off for a good few days now.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/10/2021 16:34

I haven't done much but sneeze/blow my nose/wash my hands
And knit...

Mc3209 · 21/10/2021 18:09

Looks like change in season brought in lurgies aplenty. 💐 to all under the weather.

We ve done a first settling in session at nursery with my baby! 😭 I think we are both traumatised. Next one is on Monday..

Been doing the usual flying, but did take yesterday off. Now the kitchen looks like a battlefield. Will need to tame it tonight.

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/10/2021 18:28

Zoo sounds perfect
Yup hope you start to feel better soon

I decided it was worth the long walk to the garden centre, so got the bits for repotting the plant that really really needs it, and accidentally came home with 3 new plants. No idea how that happened. Nope none at all. BlushGrin On a plus note it does mean that i have got my long walk for the week out of the way. On a minus note my legs are tired and i am still in the middle of sorting stuff so my bed is burried Hmm

Mc3209 · 21/10/2021 22:39

Hills what plants did you get?

Ta da:
🎉Kitchen found
🎉LOL
🎉Midweek s&s of the bathroom. Daily s&s doesn't work for me. Now cleaner does it properly weekly and I do another quick clean in between her visits.
🎉Downstairs hoovered
🎉Floors mopped

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/10/2021 22:59

Devil's ivy and an africian violet.

Also got the moss for repotting the monstera, we have been talking stake sizes tonight whilst i was soaking the coco noir peat alternative stuff ready for tomo. I need to make up a compost blend for the monsteria and the palour palm that also needs repotting.

I want to do african violet cuttings in the spring and propogate some new babies.

It was a good job i was walking otherwise there would have been more plants that came home with me Blush

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 21/10/2021 23:41

Oh sounds fab. I promised myself I won't propagate any more of my current plants as I simply don't have anywhere to put them..
And yes, a trip to a garden centre is a dangerous affair 😂
Good luck with repotting!

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/10/2021 00:31

I do have a good excuse...

Which is an interesting use. Apparently you get very healthy potos (devil's ivy) plants from doing this.
