Waitrose delivery fees

Just a heads up that from the 9th September Waitrose are going to be charging for their home delivery slots. Although I'm a lifelong Waitrose fan, and I do understand there are overheads with staffing/vans etc, I am a little put out by this change!

My first paid for delivery is in October, and today’s delivery had one substitution only. I never have bags and I’ll probably carry on having deliveries.

MrsMackesy · 18/09/2021 12:31

The things I really don't like about Sainsbury's are getting the voucher for more expensive subs rather than the instant adjustment Waitrose and Tesco do, and also that you can't add any notes for the pickers, unlike with Waitrose and Tesco.

MrsMackesy · 18/09/2021 12:35

I find Sainsbury's website very slow to update too when you add several of the same item or take some of those off - you really have to check your final order carefully to make sure it's correct because of this.

Sunflowers765 · 18/09/2021 22:32

If you don't get vouchers from Waitrose it's probably because when you signed up for the waitrose card you ticked no marketing or contact. Then they can't send you anything! Sign onto waitrose and change your marketing preferences then you'll get vouchers! That's what I did !

Sugarandtime · 19/09/2021 09:30

Quite a few people I know are signed up with the My Waitrose card and didn’t tick the no marketing/contact box.
Some have never received any vouchers, some get them all the time and some like myself used to get them quite regularly and now haven’t for nearly 2 years.

@lockdownwithwhoresdrawers

Also, no email was sent regarding this I don't think?
I got an email about it - hit my inbox on 2 September.

I actually think paying £3 to not have to drive to the shop, find what I want, unload it onto checkout, pack into bags, carry to car, drive home, unload car is an absolute bargain!

MrsMackesy · 21/09/2021 10:04

Subs and nothing sent aplenty again this week from Waitrose. Delivery person said lots of empty shelves in store.

Click and collect is still free, so the £3 is just for the delivery part, not picking and packing.

Isn't it such a contrast between stores and days. I did have a few weeks with lots of subs and not availables but that was a couple of months ago.
Fluffycloudland77 · 21/09/2021 14:39

I’ve had an email offering £5 off an £80 delivery. Apparently there’s slots available in my area this week.

MrsMackesy · 22/09/2021 13:42

I wonder if it is an issue with Waitrose and/or in particular our local store @MrsPnut ? Friends nearby have Tesco deliveries and they are still only getting the usual level of one, two or no subs and they haven't experienced nothing being available to sub at all. I wonder if Tesco, being bigger, is more able to cope in these difficult times of Brexit and Covid?

MrsPnut · 22/09/2021 15:07

@MrsMackesy My delivery comes from a city in the East Midlands. I have the 5-6 slot on a Friday but usually get my email receipt just after 7am which gives me time to organise replacements or tell DH which subs to refuse.

I’ve just booked, thank you for letting us know.

MrsPnut · 29/09/2021 09:57

@Catmummyof2 Thank you, slot booked for 23rd.

LadyDanburysCane · 29/09/2021 13:23

I’ve had an email saying I won’t have to pay for my Christmas delivery slot this year (as an anytime smart pass holder) but I can’t book one yet (just tried)…..

LadyDanburysCane · 29/09/2021 13:31

Oops… that was Ocado (obviously). I HAVE now booked a Waitrose slot! Thanks for the heads up.

Grateful for this thread as I completely hadn't noticed this. We had been having some issues with them recently (forgetting whole crates of stuff; subbing meat items even though we put notes on about being veggie) so this might mean we look elsewhere

MrsMackesy · 22/11/2021 13:42

Does anyone know when the New Year slots are released please?
