Is anyone doing this/just started?

We just started this week and oh my goodness, our house is clean! Someone could turn up unexpectedly and I could let them in and not die of shame!

Even toddler DD came downstairs today and said 'Oh, it's clean here!' Blush Grin

I’ve slacked off this week, so I powered through a full hour.

Did Kitchen and my ‘Friday focus’ was my office/dumping ground. Managed to fill a bin bag of rubbish and got a few bits to go to the tip. Looks slightly less of a dump than so pleased with that.

No proper housework today but lots of DIY! Finally got our kitchen cupboard door on and kickboard fitted 🥳🥳🥳 Lots of sawdust for Augustus to deal with on his daily trundle!

I’ve been slacking on the cleaning/decluttering/decorating front this week.

I’ve been making the most of a few good days of weather to start hacking back a laurel hedge - does that count?! Not finished yet and have run out of room for cuttings in my garden waste bin. But it’s looking a bit better!

Also need to get my backside in gear and order a spray mop.

Shopping list for when building work finishes :
Robo vacuum
Spray mop
Heated laundry airer
New sunnies because I'm so cool 😎

Popitdontstopit · 25/09/2021 20:34

Well I used my new spray mop's window attachment to clean my living room window for possible the first time Blush

SylvanasWindrunner · 27/09/2021 12:08

Ooh, spray mop window attachment?! Intriguing...

Miserable wet and cold Monday here. Living room is actually clean but I'll give sofa cushions a hoover and clean the windows at least. Maybe do throws if I can prise myself out from under them. Not done any level 1 stuff yet either - need a shove!

Wilma55 · 27/09/2021 12:36

Have you set robovac off to do his work? How often do you have to empty it?

SylvanasWindrunner · 27/09/2021 12:48

He is scheduled to come out at 6pm every day when I start putting DD or to bed or she'll just chase him about the whole time and get in his way. Means when I come down, he's almost finished and just takes himself home!

I empty him every time at the moment because he's still finding God knows what. If your house isn't as full of hair and toddler detritus as mine, probably less!

Thanks. Might wait for black Friday though there often seem to be offers.

SylvanasWindrunner · 27/09/2021 13:43

They had an £80 off offer on Amazon so I got Gus for £160, which isn't bad I think. Ooh yes Black Friday, need to work out if we need anything!

I do like a TOMM thread. I have fallen off the wagon completely but you are all kicking me into gear, once I’m home from driving the kids around I’m going to get on with Monday’s room. For me it’s stairs, hall and landing.

Indecisivelurcher · 27/09/2021 18:35

Living room day has been mostly managing dust from building works. Can't do any laundry as it's all unplugged! Chaos I tells yee, it's like they've never heard of TOMM...

DollyPartBaked · 27/09/2021 19:25

Today's the first day I've felt pretty much back to normal after my awful cold so got back on the app and have managed the level 1 jobs and most of level 2 in the living room (didn't do everything but enough so it looks superficially clean!)

Tomorrow is bedroom and i combine this with continuing to declutter our room.

dinosaurtin · 27/09/2021 20:33

I’ve done it! Level one and two jobs done. We often put a load of washing on in the evening here as well so I’m being my future friend as well.

freezerdinners · 28/09/2021 07:07

I have to say, although I haven't followed it to the letter, the routine (and this thread) is really helping me feel in control - and that's in the midst of building work and general household chaos too. Next I think I need to work on setting a timer - I have been getting sidetracked or too detailed in the cleaning. Fine for now as it does need it, but I don't want to end up doing more than I did before - just want to be more efficient!

Anyway so thanks to everyone for posting here as it is keeping me at it!

Indecisivelurcher · 28/09/2021 07:37

You have my sympathies re the building works @freezerdinners!
Same here, except I need to use the timer to make sure I actually do 30 minutes 😅 I'm interested to try the payloads too, when the builders are done and dh buggers off to the office!

Indecisivelurcher · 28/09/2021 07:38

Ha oops that should be playlists

freezerdinners · 28/09/2021 11:21

I don't have the app yet. How much can you customise it or save tasks for the following week? Sorry if this has been covered up thread...

SylvanasWindrunner · 28/09/2021 11:44

The saving tasks for the following week thing doesn't exist AFAIK, just rolling them over to the next day, which isn't that helpful. You can tick them off when you've done them, but not really the same. You can add and delete as many things as you like, change days, etc. which is useful - I've added stuff to level 1 and each of the level 2s to suit our house.

I have finally finished a full house clutter buster and Messy House clean-up. It's amazing how good the house feels.

Now I'm clear to stick to the method so that it stays a clean, easily run home! I'll have to diarise or I'll forget and then I'll be sorry when we get visitors.

SylvanasWindrunner · 28/09/2021 16:03

Well done @FlipFlops4Me ! Such a great feeling isn't it?

DollyPartBaked · 28/09/2021 19:12

Congrats @FlipFlops4Me - how long did it take you? I might be inspired!

Has a good day today - cleaned 2 x DCs room almost within 30 minutes. I think when I have the hoover out I'm now going to do the upstairs hallway as well so that's done ahead of tomorrow's hall way.

Our room remains the room of doom which is slowly being decluttered and did not get hoovered today - baby steps though

Indecisivelurcher · 28/09/2021 20:19

Well done everyone. We are an impressive bunch 💪
Got thru most things today, even cleaned 1 window! 1 down, 3 more to go upstairs. Now starting to see how everything will get a turn! Still no washing machine though...
