Hello and welcome to the July 2021 Fledgling Flylady Thread. Thank you Willow for an excellent pair of June threads. Welcome to one and all, old hands and newbies, lurkers and longtime posters and anyone in between. This thread keeps us vaguely on track with Flylady and is where we post our Ta Das and Yes Ta Das (what we did yesterday 😁), our To Dos and To Didn'ts, and discuss anything that comes to mind (often not housekeeping!).

The beauty of Flylady is that you are never behind, the whole system repeats every month, just jump in wherever. The aim is to gradually get into good habits and regular routines that keep the house ticking over rather than having a huge blitz on it.

To help you with this I'll be posting links to Flyady's Flight Plan and other useful parts of the website, which is updated daily, it's also good to go in and have a browse (some of it is a bit twee though). Do NOT sign up for the emails, you will be inundated.

The system divides the house up into weekly zones, then in each zone there will be timefor decluttering, a small daily task (the Mission) and each day of the week has a theme too (eg Errand Day). You can switch things around to suit your circumstances, there is a weekly Sneak Peek page to help you plan ahead. There are also 31 Babysteps, small daily habits to adopt (eg wearing shoes around the house if you'd rather not). Finally Flylady wants you to make time for you and your family, so weekends are more relaxed.

Jargon
Flylady (and the thread!) has a little bit of her own peculiar jargon it can help to know:
S&S - swish and swipe - a quick go round a bathroom or cloakroom to keep it acceptably fresh
LoL load of laundry. We are not collapsing into hysterical laughter over the state of our washing baskets
Hotspots any areas that tend to collect clutter no matter how often you clear them - mine is definitely the corner of the worksurface by the kitchen door, and the bookshelf at the bottom of the stairs
5 minute room rescue a quick whizz round any room to create a semblance of order
Weekly Home Blessing (often Home Bleugh here) - an hour a week to keep the house acceptable. I think this can only be done in an hour if you only have one bed in the house to change, so take it with a pinch of salt. I spread mine over the week as I cannot get it down to an hour and don't have an hour to give to it either.
Ned and Ted - imaginary friends often draughted in to assist with washing and ironing
BRC Bag, or box, of Random Crap
(D)LMS (Didn't) Lose My Shit - often a necessary acronym around spouses and teens!
Naughty Corner - the thread's imaginary space for rest and recuperation when it all gets too much. Often stocked with soft cushions, blankets, drinks and snacks. May or may not have a free bar, fire place, sunloungers, hot and cold running barmen etc.
Cherry waves 🍒👋 - lovely type for cheery wave that stuck!
All Fed and No One Dead - a good outcome to a busy day.

The beauty of Flylady is that is can be adapted to any household setup - lots of DC or just one, or none; a partner / spouse, or ex, or those going it alone; those working within or outside the home; shiftwork, you name it.

Our motto is No Fledgling Left Behind, so if you are a returner or a lurker, welcome on board, there is always space her for more Fledglings.

Probably my millions of power of three posts have contributed as well. 😳

Can’t sleep and of course in these temperatures Cagletini suddenly requires sleeping as close to my face as humanly possible.

Oh well I’ve had a good faff about on Amazon tidying up my wish lists, lots of things moved to the correct lists and lots deleted. I tend to use it as a memory aid - whenever I see anything recommended or have an idea for a present or project I save it on there, even though I’m unlikely to actually buy it there. So it ends up a right mess.

I do now have a Crazy Plant Lady list though. 😁🪴🎍🌺

Must actually try and sleep. I have my first phone call with my second volunteer client in 8 hours. Piano in the evening and somewhere in the middle I have online maths (friend’s DS so we are pretty flexible with times) and I need to go and get DD1’s books from school. Argh.

Not too sure when I last put my ta das on here 🤦‍♀️ but I have been keeping up with the thread.
Saturday
🍹 Trimmed the poplar tree
🍹 DS mowed the lawn
🍹 Patched up holes in the pool
🍹 Went out for dinner and drinks with DH work colleagues
🍹 Went to ILs house, watched a movie (war with grandpa or something like that) it was really good & funny

Sunday
🍓 We took the benches out of the dining room and put them downstairs. We will add hinges eventually to add storage space.
🍓 Vacuumed up the mess from removing said benches
🍓 Visited DHs grandma, in the nursing home, we were able to sit outside and spend a few minutes with her
🍓 Helped finish ILs fence. There will be more to do, but that's it for this year. They'll do the rest next summer.
🍓 Swam (floated really) in our pool
🍓 Did my nails with gel, I added tips this time as my nails kept getting shorter and shorter. I did a turquoise/ blue ombre and added some glitter

Today I worked so no flying. We did have the insect spraying guys come spray today, inside and outside, so we shouldn't get bitten by any more spiders. The DC rotated the DW and should have done a load of laundry. I haven't checked.

Tomorrow is my day off, there's already a few things on my to do list, including;

🦥 Plan ILs anniversary celebration (Ruby) with SIL
🦥 Get a vehicle registered
🦥 Make sure DH has enough clothes for work this week
🦥 Grocery shopping - because I didn't go this weekend 🤦‍♀️

Pop lead on Nelly and venture into the garden- noisy birds half scared her to death and after hissing at scoutcat whilst he was in house he walked up to her and hissed back in garden which panic her and she ran back in and is now sulking on front room sill!
List written for shops,which is going to be done in two goes as it's too hot to carry much.first trip out will be soon as co op is 25 mins walk, Waitrose 15 so by time a zoolet ready and we've trudge over they will be open!aiming get all shop finished before 19,with break for brekkie and all put away too.will be first venture in since "freedom day" and I'm not gonna lie,but anxious...

I have caught up now.
Zoo good to have you back onboard.
Can’t remember who said what. Lots of board games being played.

Not functioning yet.
Boudoir.Yesterday.
Stripped bed and email with top sheet and light quilted cover.
Started on dusting. Discovered old magazines in bedside cabinet so sorted and de-cluttered those. Kept gardening ones to look through. Had lunch salad and fish.
Pottered about. Asthma questions on line.
Re potted some given peppers. Gave one to neighbour opposite for new greenhouse and had a chat.
Crosswords and then a doze.
Made Roast Beef etc. I know! DH brought it home . Took ages as temperature not up. Was delicious ate about 8.
Washed up while DH watered the garden. I did greenhouse.
Sorted chicken coop.
Dusted chickens 🐓😁 then they didn’t want to go to bed as been shut out as mite infested. Got 7 eggs on Sunday😳 one yesterday.
Have had window open all night and curtains opened. Woken several times by tractors. Very busy and one comes right past and two or three others can be heard as they turn past village green opposite us. Feel sorry for them as so hot but then good to get crops in. Long days.
Better get up, though I could easily have another sleep.

Morning all,

Woken at 6 by rowdy people walking along the street singing, then the dustbin lorry, read for a while in bed and got up. The washing I put on the line just before going to bed is nearly dry (I don't subscribe to the darking issue!) and I'm having a cuppa in the garden, where it is very breezy.

Today is Tuesday which means Plan and Play Day. Flylady's mission is to do a 27 fling boogie in the master bedroom (get rid of 27 bitems that do not belong there)

I haven't been remembering to post babysteps, its worth browsing them to get some good habits started. Today's babystep is laundry - do one load a day.

Wow, I have really been doing romance wrong all these years

She really has got more barftastic. Really didnt thing that was possible

So i have immersed in cool water and finished my book (that's 250pages read since Saturday people) And about to start my to do list once i have found clothes because whilst naked cleaning might be cooler we have a giant bay window that everyone can see in and honestly people gawk. So yeah not ever going to happen

But first coffee and laundry. Cos yay funsies. Oh and i switched up my to do list for today. Because of course i did. lol

Zoo- 🤣 i tried to repeatedly whack the washing that I left overnight on the line....until i felt like the 'spiders willies' rub on has fallen off... (god thats got to be the most oodest line i have written on Mn. 🤔 🤣.)

I left an huge pile of clothes downstairs at night after watching midsomer murders and crying at long lost families.
And getting to bed very late.

Next door (the side i dont like) had a wedding/party something that requires the whole party of 30 screaming and shouting at 10.30pm. My kids are trying to sleep....i did alot of angry muttering...then slammed a few windows.

Console ds who has a front tooth about to fall out and its really really wobbly. I struggle with over feeling how he is feeling so it feels like its my tooth about to come out- so hating it.

dancing when we first moved into this houseneighbour had DC same age as mine,but clearly no bedtimes and at 11 were drinking and playing music loudly in the garden.i stuck head over fence and in sweetest voice said "I'm sorry to be a pain in the arse but could you turn the music down a bit it's keeping my kids awake and whilst that's not affecting you the screaming meltdowns at 5am when they wake up and are overtired might"music off,took it indoors.still bit rowdy,but as their bedroom wasn't a connecting wall was all good!never had late garden party again!fudge is good at pulling out very wobbly teeth (unlike my mum who tied cotton round it,to door handle and slam the door)

Waitrose- most staff no masks yet all customers I saw were.lady serve me was,despite having lower between customers die to hot flushes to use her mini fan(and apologise bless her)and it was she who commented how didn't think that was right.
Had emails at home from both stores declaring preferable to protect staff by wearing them if you can,and they will be continuing to wear theirs.soneone clearly not getting the memos....

Morning all. I'm stuck to my bed with the fan on.

Zoo - yes! Even a small glimpse of the bottom of her bowl sends my cat into a meltdown.

In my house having critical levels of undergarments is "entirely your own fault" - clearly I am a hardened wench
