Can anyone recommend a washing machine?

Gilesmummy · 09/05/2021 17:55

I am looking for a new machine.. but everything I seem to like the look of has very long wash times for a normal wash.. 180/ 235 minutes!

my current one does a 60 degree wash in 65 mins.
Does anyone have one that has a daily wash in less time or is this just because they have to get the ratings down so everything is slower...
Thanks

Miele is the best in my opinion. Short cycle is 55 mins

MrsPnut · 09/05/2021 17:57

We have a Bosch, a 60 degree wash on vario speed takes 66m and a 40 degree wash takes 60m

Gilesmummy · 09/05/2021 18:53

Thank you . I will have a look at those...
I think I lost the will to live this morning after looking at so many .

I just logged onto mumsnet to ask for recommendations for a washing machine too! Ours died this afternoon and I've spent hours looking at them online. They seem to vary so much in price - its a minefield!

SunshineSuxx · 09/05/2021 20:21

Please don't even contemplate a Samsung. We've had so many issues with our 18 month old machine - and their customer service is beyond shocking. It took nearly 4 weeks to get someone out to replace a door seal, and that was with me phoning them every single day as well as bombarding their social media accounts. The warranty runs out on ours in September, and I have no hope for it lasting as long as this. May as well have set fire to £500.

They don't seem to have a UK based head office but use a marketing agency. It's so far beyond weird.

Haier. Amazing.

MrsPnut · 09/05/2021 20:31

Mine is an older version of this ao.com/product/wan24109gb-bosch-serie-4-washing-machine-white-76219-1.aspx

Forestiere · 09/05/2021 20:35

Samsung Ecobubble. Ours just gave up after 7 years heavy use.
Ordered another Samsung, it's a 9kg one with the Addwash function. Think it was £449 or thereabouts.

MyHusbandTheIdiot · 09/05/2021 20:40

ao.com/product/wau28s80gb-bosch-serie-6-idos-washing-machine-white-74140-1.aspx have had this for a couple of months now - I absolutely love it. Best machine we’ve had by far. Even the fancy features like the iDose which I thought would be a gimmick are really useful and make it an absolute dream to use. SpeedPerfect brings the cycles down to reasonable lengths too - around 60-80 min for most cycles.

TeaChocKitKat · 09/05/2021 21:00

I'd want to get more than 7 years out of a new washing machine to be honest.

CoastAlong · 09/05/2021 21:25

I have Bosch Serie 6 and it's the best machine I've had. Shortest wash is 15 mins, which I don't use. There's also a 30 min short wash. I use Mixed Load setting mostly, which takes 63 minutes.

I buy on ao.com and get cashback using topcashback.

I agree about not getting a Samsung. My bearings went twice on the Ecobubble. It took MONTHS to get any response. They have people in India dealing with it. I have never known such a shambles. The engineer told me they had this issue all the time. I had no machine for months and a family of 6. We have an LG now, it's fine so far, but I dread it going wrong.

saraclara · 09/05/2021 21:45

I wanted to love my ecobubble which is lovely and quiet and has all the programmes I need, they're not too long, and there's even a 15 minute quick wash.

But the spin is awful. It gets less water out than my old Bosch, yet leaves everything incredibly creased. I have to iron things I never used to need to iron, and it all takes longer to iron because the creasing is so bad.

JadeSeahorse · 10/05/2021 06:28

@iamthedanger

Haier. Amazing.
I would second this!

Bought one for my dd a few months ago. Whisper quiet, fantastic variable programmes and so well built. Makes my much more expensive Bosch look and sound clunky! ☹️

SimonJT · 10/05/2021 06:32

Miele with the autodose, they’re fantastic.

Ducksurprise · 10/05/2021 06:40

I've not had the same problem with Samsung customer service, in fact they have been great, although I have had then out a lot, basically have whole new machine inside a old unit.

I had a washing machine for nearly 30 years but since then even expensive ones such as miele don't seem to last 10years so I bought the cheapest 5 year warranty model which was a Samsung.

Igmum · 10/05/2021 06:40

Another vote for Miele here. Mine is over 20 years old and still going strong. Definitely worth the extra

JemimaTiggywinkle · 10/05/2021 06:42

Everyone seems to hate Beko, but mine is great.

I would ignore everyone’s advice and just get a subscription to Which? and look at reviews.

ILoveFlumps · 10/05/2021 07:55

We have the Miele Twindos. It's a great machine. Can do pretty much everything, including long and short cycles. Even has a 20 min cycle.
Expensive outlay, but, in the long run will save you money. This one is 6 years old, and replaced a 21 year old machine before that. They're workhorses.

MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 10/05/2021 08:00

Miele because theyre indestructible. Mines 13 years old and never had an issue with it. It's just a basic one but has options to shorten all wash cycles. A full wash takes 80 minutes. But there's also the option for a half hour wash at 40.

I honestly wouldn't have any other brand.

Panpig · 10/05/2021 08:00

I've got a Panasonic one and it is brilliant. Loads of settings, quiet, good capacity, is years old but gets used daily and has never had a problem.

Bat96 · 10/05/2021 09:03

Does anyone have an ebac mashine? They have very good reviews, not sure about their wash times though

OhRene · 10/05/2021 10:24

I can't recommend one but I do want to say, AVOID the Hoover Dynamic Next.

Yes the cycle times are pretty decent (59 minutes daily wash) it's got a great spin, isn't too loud, washes the clothes brilliantly, especially at 30 degrees, has effective quick cycles (14, 30 or 44 minutes) and even has a good time delay so you can set it to come on at a time convenient to you.

However, the damned thing is so bloody temperamental!!! In under a year it would randomly stop having a working start button. We couldn't get it repaired as it would work just fine when it wanted to and engineers couldn't see a problem as it worked for them. Ours is great for a month or so, then I have to haul it out, detach the lid and start pushing at all the wires and buttons inside making sure everything is secured and then it usually works again. It also randomly beeps at us, even when it's off at the plug. DH and I have decided that it's simply possessed.

So my advice is steer clear of the Hoover washers.

Definitely Miele!
