Hi everyone. I have name changed as I have shared photos with family and friends and I don't want them knowing my usual name.

I have been stuck at home with lousy weather and self- isolation due to colleague getting COVID. I have depression so it's not been the best time tbh. I do have restless energy and can't settle on things so it's taken me absolutely ages to get things done but I have done some decluttering.

I am a teacher and I had loads of paperwork at home. In the end, I got rid of 9 cm height of paper for recycling plus a smaller pile for shredding, lots of envelopes and plastic wallets which I will take back to school. It took me all day and the next to sort this lot out.

I watched the Home Edit recently so I put my cookbooks in a rainbow.

I do have a confession to make - the rest of my house is a mess but I wanted to share my small successes. I will add more photos as I go on.

I’ve done a couple more. This cupboard is where I’m now keeping all of our overflow of tins. As you can see, it’s an awkward, L-shaped cupboard. I found two out of date jars of mayonnaise hiding round the corner! 😳
I’ve labelled what’s on each shelf so things don’t get lost.

Here’s my lovely new spice insert shelf thing. Now I don’t have to get everything out of the cupboard to find out what I’ve got.

Ah, lovely @Nuffaluff It's all organised and labelled. I had my overstock in an L-shaped cupboard but I had to move it because I couldn't see what I had extra of. Anyway, super work!

LOVE the spice rack. Bootiful. Can I make a little suggestion - you can take it or leave it? Could you colour coordinate them by colour of label? See if it makes a difference. Or maybe, that's me trying to impose my hang-ups on you. Blush

I am playing with my new Eufy today Grin So much fun.

Colour coordination - that is a whole other level.
I’m not sure I have it in me.

My bad 🤗

The hallway is getting decluttered tomorrow! I have piles of stuff on the landing that one emptied out of the children's rooms which have been ruthlessly culled.

WhereIsMyMojoGone · 19/11/2020 09:51

Good luck @CommanderBurnham and enjoy. Smile

I think I've lost my mojo a bit. Having had a stressful few days at work, I'm worn out and feeling down with little energy. Sad

OP posts:
CommanderBurnham · 19/11/2020 16:20

I've been the same. I started on the hallway, and all the junk that came of it has led the hallway being in a worse state but led to the drawer of doom being sorted as I couldn't dump stuff in there any longer!

Love this. You feel so much calmer after a checkout. Would be interested to know ho people manage paper photos. Boxes and boxes... Not sure whether to keep boxed, albumize. Scanning them seems too hard but quantities are huge. Great thread OP thank you.

MadauntofA · 21/11/2020 09:32

Having to isolate again for 2 weeks, photos are my plan to sort out - I'm going to do a couple of photo books for DDs for Christmas with the nice ones, and have a good cull. May take me the whole 2 weeks in between working from home!!

Babymamaroon · 21/11/2020 16:37

Brilliant thread! Have loved the before and after pics Smile

isadorapolly · 21/11/2020 19:52

I’ve been watching home edit and organised my books by colour but am now feeling a real urge to do the same with my fridge! I have 7 children and a big fridge but it’s still not big enough and even though I have a loose system it still looks messy (and needs a good clean Blush ).

Anyone here de cluttered their fridge or have tips on where to put things? I’m clueless really!

isadorapolly · 21/11/2020 19:54

Also I really want to swap my food cupboard with the cupboard I keep plates etc in. And give it a good spiv and maybe paint the inside. They are original cupboards that have been here since the house was built in the 1920s!

Ooh may i join? I've a dreadful bookcase and cupboard I need to empty

MadauntofA · 22/11/2020 06:30

Your cupboards look amazing izadorapolly - I would love those!Does your house have lots of other original features? Would your food fit in your plate cupboard?

WhereIsMyMojoGone · 22/11/2020 15:30

Of course you can join @polkadotpjs Smile

@isadorapolly well done on sorting your books by colour - does it make you smile? I'm sorry I can't help you with the fridge. The contents are always changing, too many people accessing it etc would mean you would constantly be stressed trying to tidy it. I did try but it's a no from me. I think if I was living on my own, it's totally doable. And your cupboards are lovely. I had the same thought as @MadauntofA: is your plate cupboard large enough to contain your pantry goods? If you are thinking of repainting the cupboards, perhaps you could paint the insides a different colour, maybe to match the plates etc. Powder pink or a soft blue or maybe something dramatic?

Thank you @Babymamaroon and @CrownAddict.

CrownAddict it's a simple matter of just going through each and every photo I'm afraid. I went through mine 3 times, culling photos each time, before I was happy with it it. I managed to fit it all into a shoe size box. All organised and dated into sections. I can get my photos out and not feel overwhelmed. But I was pretty ruthless. Good luck. You too MadauntofA

@CommanderBurnham Lovely drawer - no more stress looking in there. What happened to the before photo? Grin

@ChampagneCommunist have you tackled DD's room yet?

@pengymum well done on the declutter and the weight loss. I find a before and after pics really motivate me and I can see all the work that I have done. I like your idea about the board games.

@LemonBreeland well done, no stress is good.

I hope I haven't missed anyone out. Sorry if I have.

I've not been feeling great but I did do a tiny amount of sorting.

It's been a while. I've had a lot to deal with but I just wanted to show you my breakfast/drink/snack cupboard. I already had stuff in baskets and trays but it looked too messy for me so I invested some birthday money on containers. It makes me very happy opening this cupboard because it looks more together but it's also super easy to sort food into and get out. The snacks are separated by person so each one of us has a container as we all mostly like different things and have a shared snack container too. Didn't think I had so much to say about this 😁

@WhereIsMyMojoGone love those clear containers and the fact that everyone has their own! Where are they from?

CupboardOfJoy · 13/12/2020 21:40

Lovely thread!

I've re-organised a kitchen cupboard recently. Lots of Lock & Lock boxes and a labelling machine, made a huge difference.

@CupboardOfJoy Lovely cupboards. Makes such a difference.

@torthecatlady They can be found at John Lewis (expensive) or the iDesign shop at Amazon at £10.99 each, which is an investment but totally worth it for me.

torthecatlady · 14/12/2020 14:26

Excellent! Thanks! I'll have a look later this evening and have a measure up!

gassylady · 15/12/2020 11:47

Wow some fabulous ideas here. I’m chipping away at the decluttering and now starting to think of the organising. Inspiring thread thanks @WhereIsMyMojoGone. I couldn’t get past the squeaking and Americanness on Home Edit but love the look of the boxes and the scarf doughnuts. But most of all @Nuffaluff I’m craving those sainsburys spice jars Grin look nicer than my tesco ones and with a screw of lid more practical too!

WhereIsMyMojoGone · 19/12/2020 13:36

On to the baking goods cupboard which had these useless yellow drawers in it. They didn't fit anything in and took too much space so out they came. The out of date stuff was discarded and everything was streamlined.
