What do you wash with your bath mat?

To balance your machine. Seems dirty to wash it with anything else.

I wash it with a normal wash. Surely the whole point of a wash is that it cleans everything - whatever is on the mat will wash away as will everything on everything else.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/09/2020 16:35

Eh? I wash it with my other towels.

Abzs · 14/09/2020 16:35

Towels.

SoupDragon · 14/09/2020 16:37

Why is it dirty to wash it with anything else? Hasn't it only had feet on it?

SoupDragon · 14/09/2020 16:37

I shove mine in with whatever needs washing.

ScarMatty · 14/09/2020 16:39

Towels on hot wash

Ashdownstar · 14/09/2020 16:39

I'm a filthy animal - I throw everything in together. My children have all survived to adulthood (caveat - I don't let things go too long without a wash and I'd be more cautious if someone was poorly)

MJMG2015 · 14/09/2020 16:41

I have a couple & they're quite big & heavy- so I just wash them together & that's it

Even when I had smaller, lighter ones, I didn't wash them with the towels. But I'm 'fussy' I don't wash tea towels with anything else at all.

lazylinguist · 14/09/2020 16:43

Towels or anything really. The point of the washing machine is thst it all comes out clean, after all.

Ernieshere · 14/09/2020 16:44

Its had clean feet on it so in with the towels or whatever else is that colour.

Bananalanacake · 14/09/2020 16:45

I washed washable nappies with towels and sheets and nothing terrible has happened, bet I'm a sloppy person by MN standards.

AbsoolutelyKnott · 14/09/2020 16:47

Towels, tea towels and cleaning cloths. On a 60° wash with laundry bleach.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 14/09/2020 16:48

@Bananalanacake

I shove my washable sanitary towels in with my normal colours wash, is that filth too?

By comparison you could eat your dinner off my bath mat.

I don’t get it OP - how is a bath mat different from any other towel?

Mangofandangoo · 14/09/2020 16:48

I was with towels on a hot wash - it gets washed once a week and aired in between uses so it's really not that dirty

NoSquirrels · 14/09/2020 16:49

Towels. Any tea towels needing washing too.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/09/2020 16:49

I wash my towels weekly so it’s really not that dirty. No dirtier than the towels you use to dry your body.

Gumbo · 14/09/2020 16:51

I have 3 so I wash them together with all the toilet mats and the little indoor doormat that's by the back door.

Sunshine1235 · 14/09/2020 16:53

Towels or bedding - hot wash

Whatthebloodyell · 14/09/2020 16:54

I find the idea that dirty things can’t be washed with cleaner things VERY odd.

Ashdownstar · 14/09/2020 16:57

@WinterAndRoughWeather I do that with my San Pro too. Only thing is I don't put tea towels in the same load.
Re bath mats - it's a rule in my house that bath mat get picked up after every use and slung over the side of the bath so spiders can get out of the bath and scuttle off to wherever they go so grubby feet don't stamp all over them. Much easier to enforce since it's been only DH and I at home.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 14/09/2020 17:01

Yes we always hang the bath mat on the towel rail after use, else it stays damp.

I do find toilet mats gross though (not that it would stop me bunging them in any old wash), I can’t see the appeal. If there are men in the house, that mat is guaranteed to be soaked with piss.

FlyingLoo · 14/09/2020 17:03

I use an old towel that Ive kept just for this reason but I’m thinking I should buy another bat mat and just wash them together

AntiHop · 14/09/2020 17:07

Towels, cleaning cloths or bed linen, ie things that I wash at 60.

Alfiemoon1 · 14/09/2020 17:10

Towels

Bananalanacake · 14/09/2020 17:12

Winter, not filth at all, sensible idea to fill up the machine. My DP didn't give two hoots about me washing the nappies with his pants and pyjamas and towels, and he's pretty fussy.
I answered this as only today I washed a bathmat my MIL gave me ages ago for the first time, actually it lives under a smaller towel mat. I washed it with the downstairs mat and 2 of DPs jeans to answer your question.
