Just has someone out to look at our 2 year old(if that?)Kenwood dishwasher. Its basically knackered. Surely a dishwasher should last longer than that....our last one, didn't last long either. Any recommendations please? We will use it a lot! So I need it to last.

We can see this thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best dishwasher page with plenty of great options, including info on the brands Mumsnet users love. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

We have had Whirlpool and Beko in the past, both excellent. Kenwood has been a disaster for us, we had a similar experience to you. I don't think ours was even 18 months old when the pump went.

GrumpiestOldWoman · 03/08/2020 13:07

My 8yo Bosch has just given up, and it's used/abused heavily. Previously I'd struggled to get 3 years out of cheaper ones. Just ordered another Bosch for £380, hoping to get another 8 years!

StillSmallVoice · 03/08/2020 13:14

Miehle. V expensive, but absolutely worth it.

FindMeInTheSunshine · 03/08/2020 13:18

Our Miele is on year 22. Also the washing machine and tumble dryer. Very expensive but been well worth it for us!

aureliacecilia · 03/08/2020 13:22

I had a Bosch one in my old house which I rated.

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 03/08/2020 13:22

Miele is fantastic. But, for just general everyday, affordable workhorse, I'd go Bosch any day.

Don't bother with AEG - expensive, but not a fraction as good as Miele

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 03/08/2020 13:26

Oh, I had a Siemens in a rental once that was the closest to a Miele but not a Miele I've had (moved a lot, tried a lot of different kit!)

FoolsAssassin · 03/08/2020 13:28

Our Siemans is on year 13 so far, DH replaced the catch mechanism yesterday which was pretty straight forward.

derenstar · 03/08/2020 13:30

We have a built in one by Neff which we are very happy with- had one in our old house which didn’t give us any problems in 10 years. Our current house came with an Electrolux model that broke after 3 years. We replaced it with a Neff Model and it’s still going strong 5 years on.

Apparently Currys bought out Kenwood. Stuck a Kenwood label on what would have been a basic curry dishwasher.

Miele. Their most basic model is still brilliant.

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 03/08/2020 13:32

Another vote for Miele, my last one was good for 10 years before needing a repair, and they do a great job.

Nat6999 · 03/08/2020 13:34

Mine is a Bosch, basic model. When I finally find a new house I will purchase another Bosch

TankGirl97 · 03/08/2020 13:35

We've had a Bosch for 6/7 years and it's still perfect. I'd buy Bosch again - or possibly Miele after seeing the reviews here!!

BikeRunSki · 03/08/2020 13:38

We have a 12 year old Zanussi. WE've replaced the pump and the door hinges.

DM had a 25 year old Miele, which gave up the ghost about 6 months ago. It was replaced with a Hotpoint. She is 77 and did n't think it was worth investing in a dishwasher that would outlive her.

dementedpixie · 03/08/2020 13:42

Bosch logixx with cutlery tray. Must be at least 7 years old by now

Elouera · 03/08/2020 13:45

Is it hard water causing the issues? Would a water softener help, or do the dishwasher tablets basically do the same?

Mum had one last 25yrs (soft water) from an obscure brand which has since closed down. They arent made the same I'm afraid.

Ginger1982 · 03/08/2020 13:53

My granny's hotpoint is still going strong after 25 years! They don't make them like they used to!

Yeah, but if you get a new Miele, don't expect that to last 22 years. They don't make them the same anymore.

That goes for most brands.

Normandy144 · 03/08/2020 13:56

We have a Bosch which is 4 years old and we like it. At the time it was the model with the best Which? rating, so I would suggest checking out what their latest advice is before committing to anything. You can sign up for a free trial I believe. Their reports which also tell you which models to avoid.

DramaAlpaca · 03/08/2020 14:02

My last Bosch lasted 18 years, my current one is seven years old and still going strong, but I don't think it'll last as long as the build quality isn't as good as the previous one.

Woodendollymix · 03/08/2020 14:08

Zanussi, just gone 17 years only replaced the door seals

Had a Siemens once when renting , it was rubbish.

youngestisapsycho · 03/08/2020 14:20

our Beko has been going strong for 11years
